10/10 the best breakfast/brunch in the city! Incredible art. Impeccable service. Scrumptious unique food.Cody was the perfect server. Attentive, yet not too much. Gave killer recommendations (ie added eggs & avocado to “Love on a Plate”).Pictured is “Love on a Plate,” biscuit sandwich, and pecan sticky bun.

One of my favorite spots for events, dates, or even just a delicious bite. Fresh and local ingredients make every dish pop, and everything on the menu is worth trying. A monthly fresh sheet allows the chefs to explore new dishes and the bartenders to shine with fun, often seasonal cocktails. Great service too!

I enjoyed the atmosphere, the decor and firepit on the deck. The staff are polite and responsive. I had the cauliflower tacos - very nice - and the harissa hummus with veggies and pita - not too spicy. My date had a steak, potatoes and veggies. The French onion soup was yummy. Prices were decent, too.

Stopped by on a Monday at 4:30. The place was mostly empty. After being seated there was a little bit of a wait until we could order. I ordered the BBQ burger. The wife got fish and chips and the kiddo had a grilled cheese. After about 15 minutes, the server brought my wife a beverage. I never received mine even after asking for it a second time. Another 40 minutes later another employee brought us the food. My wife commented I hope the food is worth the wait after the 35 minute mark.We wouldnt see our server again until he brought the check- which didnt show up until I spoke to the hostess asking how I could pay so we could leave. We were seated next to the servers station with condiments, glasses, tableware etc. I understand sometimes someone has to be seated there, but I didnt appreciate being bumped into every 5 minutes with someone sliding their butt along my shoulders no apology offered.I asked for ketchup and never received it, but luckily we were right next to the condiments and I was able to grab my own. The food itself was pretty good. The fries were crisp outside and tender inside, perfectly cooked. My wife said it wasnt jump for joy, but shed eat it again. My BBQ burger was well prepared but did not have BBQ sauce.Although the food was quite good (7.5 - 8/10), I will not be back. The experience was bad, especially for a weekday afternoon meal.

Classic Benedict and Chorizo Burrito! My friend already jumped on half the burrito, so there is double the amount shown. Only 4 stars, because the potatoes were slightly wanting. A bit more salt would maybe help, but they were good in the sauce. The Benedict on toast and bacon was amazing. The place was clean and had a wonderful modern vibe. Definitely more on the pricy side, but better quality than if you go to some cheap diner. Overall I would go again for sure. Great place for locals as well as the tourist.

Oh, dont you just love when you go to a place where you simply cant order wrong? Wait to be seated, order and pay with server. Every dish we ordered was a five-star example of its kind. And the sweets! We were told to come for the pavlova, which was amazing, but everything else was just great. Pecan sticky bun, pavlova, and peanut butter pie were addictive. The chocolate mousse a fine treat for its kind but definitely not the show horse compared to the others. The halibut tacos, french dip, and jalapeno burger were top, the chicken part of the the chicken fried chicken was excellent and the noodles pleasant, while the sauce was very strongly soaked with the wine component, so less smoothly cohesive as a dish. The rice bowl had a great flavor but some of the rice seemed dried out and so it chewed super hard among the veggies. That delicious peanut sauce ended up making the dish too spicy to share with the kids, but before mixing it together, they got some of the delicious sweet potato out of it. And the restaurant itself is open and beautiful, with a good humor and friendly-familiar vibe. Like, they serve water in whatever type glass, not all matching, and that was a fun effect. Just a cool mix of make yourself at home and have an amazing meal. Their baby chairs were in good repair and the kids menu had quite a variety. I personally dont drink but one in my group got a bloody Mary they enjoyed. Im guessing that menu would stand up well in its competition too. Were visiting and so wont be back often (hence why we tried so much!) but when we do come back, well make a stop at South! Keep this one in business. Five plates, one polenta fries (oh so good!), one drink, four desserts, plus generous tip came to $195.

At first the place is really kinda retro style. Fairly decent place. The sourdough pancakes were ok but boarded more like a crapé than a pancake. We had an awesome experience at South. Our first time. We were looking for a place to celebrate my sisters first time in Alaska. This is the place. Nice semiprivate dining room for special events. We had two of their special cocktails.... The gin and juice and bees knees. Both great. For dinner we shared one tapas...ahi poke and 1.5 pounds of AK King crab. Never had the crab before. We were surprised how each leg was already opened up. Does everyone in AK do this for you? Our server, Cindy, took excellent care of us. She recommended the chocolate mousse for dessert. It was outstanding. All in all a perfect place for a celebratory dinner.

They were good dishes and well prepared but somewhat lack luster in the taste. The polenta was nicely fried but not much in flavor.
