Love Originale! Their sandwiches huge and are so good. They have a great menu with monthly specials. Quality ingredients, fresh bread and Italian food made by Italians. What more could you ask for?

Everything here always tastes so good. Its so fresh and high quality ingredients are used. Im never disappointed. I would highly recommend. The food always comes out fast. To-go options are great and food reheats up nicely.

We walked into this restaurant as a tourist not expecting much and I had one of the best cold sandwiches I have had in an long time. Simple sandwich with meat and cheese and perfect focaccia bread drizzled with olive oil and herbs. Simple but full of flavor. They should stay open longer so that more people can enjoy them. 5 stars all the way!

Happened to walk in this establishment out of the blue while being the tourist that I am and I am so glad I did! The food (I had the Diablo) was amazing! Fresh, authentic, and delicious. I’m sad I don’t live in Alaska to be able to come here whenever I’d like. Now I have even more excuses to come visit family.

Are you Italian? Im not. Thats why when I want an Italian sandwich, I go to Originale. Theres a cold case full of cheese and meat. The meat is big, and the cheese is even bigger. Its very unique because you can see the ingredients they use to make your food. Its sort of like an Italian Benihana.

What a joy to find an Italian restaurant the DOESNT serve spaghetti OR pizza! That alone should make you curious (since most Americans cant imagine what Italian food without those). But Originale highlights the do-one-thing-and-do-it-well principle. Their thing is panini. Fresh baked, perfectly toasted with loads of authentic Italian cured meat, fresh mozarella and great spices. No way to lose here. They even have smaller sizes for budget or portion control. Oh yes, get a cannoli!!

Nice surprise in the middle of downtown. They take their sandwiches seriously and give you an authentic taste from an Italian deli. Refreshing fare, tasty treats. My wife and I loved it. Only complaint is they are closed by 3 pm, so hurry.

Since leaving Boston I havent found a good Italian sandwich shop. That was until I walked in the door here. A friend of mine talked wonderful things about this place. Like how good everything was and that they make their own foccicia. I scored out menu online and was like yum. However I didnt see the quintessential Italian sandwich. Thats right the Muffaletta. Well I walked up and asked Do you have a Muffaletta all he did was point to the specials. BOOYEAH!!! As it was awesome salty crunchy meaty and just the right amount of brine. Will probably become a regular.

Had the Margherita Panini and potato salad. Fresh, hot, and delicious. The cheese mix was wonderful on the panini and the potato salad was a mustard make versus a mayonnaise make so it was absolutely amazing.

This place has the best paninis without a doubt! Fresh ingredients, to die for Italian meats and delicious cheeses! I’m up from the lower 48 and was wanted a quick but good lunch. I ended up with a quick and GREAT one! I had The Godfather and my friend had the Nonni. Both were perfection. Service was fast and friendly too which always makes every dining experience better. I’m very picky about potato salad and there’s was perfect. If you’re looking for a great meal option at a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong here!

Absolutely delicious food. Both my wife and I had Paninis. Very fresh and full of flavor. The service was fantastic and very friendly, with a comfortable environment. Coffee was very smooth and had bold flavor. We will definitely be going back! They have fresh meat and cheese that is sold also, they will cut and package it for you, like a mini deli.

My husband and I were walking around downtown Anchorage last year and stumbled on Originale. The food here is simply phenomenal. Tastes fresh and delicious. I have to make a note about the consistency and the quality control. I have gotten the same sandwich (Nonni) every time Ive ordered from here. Every time Ive received it, its amazing. Great service, always on time when we pull up for curbside.People referring to the high prices - most of the quality meats and cheeses used are very high in price if you were to buy them yourself. Its not a Subway.

Got a very good tasting sandwich with fresh ingredients but I feel $18 for one sandwich and a bag of chips is overpriced. Will not be returning anytime soon.

The food is impressive. Really amazing sandwiches. However its definitely not kid friendly. I was waiting with my kids for my husband to have lunch and it seemed like they were just trying to get us out the door asap. Every time we looked at them, they were staring at us. Excellent. Probably gets busy at lunch but I ducked in early before a meeting at non-peak hours. Everything tasted great. Very traditional and family focused with kids and parents all meeting one another. I recommend.

Nothing to say that others havent already said, but here are my five stars too. This place is a reason to live in Anchorage. Theres no shortage of wonderful food in Japan, but I crave these out-of-this-world sandwiches. My favorite sandwiches in the world.

Really, really good hot sandwich (#9). I havent tried all their menu, but Im going to try now that I know such a place exists. Honestly, this was my first trip. I really like the Italian feel. If I was qualified to say it is real Italian cuisine, I would... I think it is. When I sat there admiring the decor while enjoying an amazing mocha I did feel kind of transported. It looks like they sell some really appetizing deli meats and cheeses. It is likely that I will end up putting on a few pounds exploring the menu, I cant stop thinking about it, and Im on a full stomach. Perhaps its just a welcome change from Turkey leftovers.

Tasty deli sandwiches. 4 stars because this is Alaska and there isnt a place to put your jacket. The chairs dont have backs and there isnt a coat rack.

It really seems as if you just left Anchorage and went to another country.Great location snd I would recommend this spot to anyone in groups.

A wee bit pricey for a quick meal but well worth the price for the yummyness and freshness. Its a lovely little place tucked away, nice and quiet. The food and desserts are made fresh. I had the New York City and it was delicious with yummy herbs. I will definitely coming back again!

This place rules. Mom and Pop, proper Italian, deli-style restaurant. Theres not a lot of frills and the sandwiches have only a few ingredients each, but the ingredients are very quality and well presented. I love going there! You can get a delicious, hot and spicy sandwich with a tasty little side of potatoe salad and a home made canoli! Take home some fresh sliced deli meats and cheese for your fridge at home, too!

This is a family favorite of ours. It is a wonderful little spot to get great food.

Delicious sandwich but rude staff. Customer service goes a long way. The soup wasnt very good. The noodles were cooked so long they practically disintegrated. I just asked to switch it out for the side of potato salad for my wife and they refused saying it was free. Its only free if you buy a menu item, which we did. If I came off the street and didnt buy anything, I doubt it would be free. After a $35 lunch, delicious but pricey, the rude staff ruined it for us and we havent returned.

Potato salad was excellent but only received about 2 bites in a tiny plastic cup. A large salad was basically the size of a side salad for $12.

For an Italian like me so far away from home it is fantastic to have a place like Originale and being able to get some great Italian food. Ingredients are very high quality and the staff is very friendly and helpful (and they speak Italian!).

If youve never gone to Originale and you feel some sort of emptiness or inadequacy in your life, the answer to your problems is solved on 4th and D. Sergio and Roseli have created a restaurant that encapsulates not only the authenticity of an Italian deli, but also their passion for providing some of the best cuisine youll ever hope to find in the northern hemisphere. Those paninis are fantastic, but I recommend taking them to the park rather than eating in. The ambiance inside is a little uncomfortable just because its so empty and quiet. They need to fix their seating arrangements.

I love the savory traditional sandwiches they make here Il Diavolo is my favorite, a succulent spicy sandwich, and the focaccia isnt too thick. As an authentic Italian eatery, Originale is one of the afew places I can safely order a sandwich without being subject to mayonnaise! I grew up in a deeply Italian neighborhood in NJ and have long sought those flavors. Benvenuto a casa, i miei amici.
