This is a must for coffee connoisseurs. Excellent espresso served in nice ceramic cups if you tell them it’s for here.Try the cookies. We tried the ginger molasses. Great pairing with a perfect Americano.Seated is ample but also very intimate place to sit and read the local paper.Thank you to the ladies for serving us so well.

What a great place. I have been going here for a while now. I love how they treat their customers. They do their best to remember your name and your order... they have customers everyday so dont be offended if they get it wrong or dont remember. They are only human. But their customers service is top notch. Always willing to give you suggestions and just carry on a conversation or answer your questions. I also enjoy the fact that they sell some local product there (like the masks and candy bars). Its a very friendly and inviting atmosphere and a wonderful place to go. I even go out of my way sometimes just to go there, noting it will brighten my day. So please dont just take my word for it. Go experience for yourself. Its definitely work it... remember to always smile 😃

We were visitors from Michigan, found this place on goggle, my family was very happy with whatever they ordered. Avacado toast were the best. I am a big time chai fan, their chai didn’t disappoint.As a small business owner myself, I always like to support small businesses. The staff was very professional too.

Environment are nice. They made excellent coffee latte with various flavors. However, food quality are not taste standard meal. I ordered burrito and its dry. I personally not like mushrooms and asked them to removed it. Sorry, its already included prep food. I have nothing say to it... My wife ordered egg sandwich, its not impressed either. Yet, their bread with blacken are taste great but not what is inside...

Delicious bites to have for breakfast and great coffee (get the sludge if you want something strong 💪).Always a little busy but the wait has never been longer than 5-10 mins. The drinks, and food does take a few to come out.

I highly recommend the Dark Horse Coffee Co. Yeah they make great oatmeal and coffee. The care that goes into their service and their beautiful shop made a lasting impression on my trip to Anchorage.

Amazing customer service. Gave great advice on the options. Ended up going with a Caramel Breve and it was delicious. Drinkable from the moment I got it. Cute little spot too!

They serve loose leaf tea! And they steep it for you! Amazing (not at all being sarcastic). Got a large cup of organic English breakfast and enjoyed it on their terrace (indoors felt a bit hot, outside was at a crisp 55 F degrees). The ladies behind the counter are very nice.

This coffee house fits the description- its like a house thats been around for a long time, before the tall gray buildings overshadowing it were built. The espresso and coffee here are excellent. They also offer sandwiches, pastries, and other baked items if you want something to go with your coffee. Indoor space is limited right now but theres an outdoor porch with tables and chairs if youre wanting to hang out and watch busy people in suits and uniforms stroll by in downtown Anchorage.

Started today with a cinnamon vanilla latte at a coffee shop I wish I had the opportunity to visit more often. Dark Horse sits between the Denaina Convention Center, City Hall and the Robert Atwood Building, so they are always busy. But the atmosphere is always warm and the drinks are always great, so being part of the crowd here makes perfect sense. They also offer french press and tea pots for only $7, so it is easy to enjoy an extended morning stay while you read one of their complimentary Anchorage Daily News papers. What I love most though, everyone is treated with respect here. I’ve know a few people between homes and jobs who might not have been welcomed in other establishments but are able to spend time out of the cold, enjoying a cup of coffee and a friendly game of cards (or one of the other games they have for customers to use). Their menu is good as well...extremely generous oatmeal portions!

Food was great and so was the coffee. Nice cozy place to hang out. I would definitely recommend. Its usually crowded.

Old little coffee house feel. You will wait in line if you go in the morning... its very crowded because its small. But its way better than the franchise coffee shops. This one has charm. Theres small living room type seating and a little patio. Coffee usually good, limited food menu but good... try the quiche or oatmeal ;-) Not open evenings.

Nice little coffee shop in downtown Anchorage. The inside is cozy, warm and the breakfast egg sandwich is delicious. It also service Breakfast, lunch and pastry type food. You also have regular coffe, frappuccinos and smoothies. As well cold brew coffee. It has a little bit of everything for every type of coffee and non-coffe drinkers.

Service is good but no soda in store, coffee on the bittersweet and pastries are on the dry side (only good with dunking in coffee)

They let their regulars jump ahead of you when they’re super busy. So that’s fun. Otherwise the coffee is good and the employees are sweet.

Ill come back to try their avocado toast (they were out when I visited around noon), but Im never really impressed by their coffee. Sour shots + over-steamed (too hot) oat milk.

Showed up at 6:50... along side whoever opens. So the 0645 was more like a WAG than actual opening.Was directed to go sit in dining area... said I wanted to look at shop... was told “No go sit in dining room while I open.” Left to find a more hospitable place.... which we did.No idea of food, coffee or anything else other than very poor customer interaction. If the owner.. shame shame. If employee, needs to be fired.Just my 2 cents as a coffee shop owner.

Coffee was good. I think they were a bit overwhelmed when I visited - it took 6 or 7 minutes before they took my order, and I was the second person in line.

The chai was brewed to perfection and the burrito was packed with tasty veggies. Great environment, friendly staff. Bravo.

I discovered this coffee while I was attending a conference across the street. I came to this coffee 7 times for breakfast, had the oatmeal with berries and banana + a latte coffee with soy milk, all very good and unexpensive! I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs a local spot to start the day right. The only less positive note that I could share is the fact they are a lot of homeless hanging out. I really dont mind, but it sometimes makes you uncomfortable. Last but not least, the staff is absolutely nice and friendly, although they are extremely busy!

Coffee is really great and people who run the business are so friendly. A great place to drop in for a coffee and sweets on a cold winters day. Do yourself a favour and experience this place. You will not be disappointed. Once of Anchorages best kept secrets.

Oatmeal and coffee are hard to beat but Ive had to edit my five stars.. Ive seen one of the servers be more than a little rude with customers and one colleague on more than one occasion now. Its a shame because the places simplicity is its drawcard.

Always love it here. I go almost every morning for a breakfast smoothie with my best friend, and they make it just right. They have our order memorized and know who we are when we walk in. Thats the best part about coming here, plus the loyalty cards are a nice bonus too.

Like Cheers for coffee. Friendly, great coffee and a rich variety of teas. If you go a few times they always remember you. The outside seating is a summer treat. Consistent. They also do a lot of community volunteer work without fanfare. I live downtown and will meet with people here whenever I can.

Would recommend this for a great cup of coffee. I hear the oatmeal is spectacular too.

Really good lattes. I like that they use Monin Syrups. I prefer them over the other brands. They get pretty busy so you should not expect to grab a coffee and bagel super quick. Overall Coffee is great, food options are good (quiche looks yummy) and atmosphere and service is friendly.

Ive been a regular at Dark Horse for many years (whenever my work brings me to Anchorage). The coffee is great, the staff is warm and friendly, and it has a cool/eclectic Anchorage vibe. My favorites are the steel cut oatmeal w/works (raisins, walnuts, cranberries or craisins?, granola and brown sugar), or the quiche which is delicious!!!

Cozy small house atmosphere. Wonderful personable vibe for downtown, and they have the best Cold Brew! Excellent quiche too. Free Wifi and friendly staff. Great place for light business conversation.

First time there. Had the Butter Rum Mocha with my Dad. Very good. Comfortable home like setting. The only place open around there that early morning.

Love this place! Food is always good and they make London Fogs to perfection. Plus the baristas are always wonderfully friendly and polite, even when ridiculously busy (which they are most of the time, because they are that good!). For example, a gentleman accidentally cut in front of me in line and while I wasnt going to say anything, when the gentleman noticed and apologized both baristas indicated they had noticed it and were going to kindly correct the error. I love that kind of tact and attention to detail! Dark Horse is now my favorite coffee place, beating out Kaladis 15+ year run at #1.

Nice shop, I love the character. Sad my first time there when it was extremely busy so I think that lowered the quality. I will try again knowing my aunt and many speak highly of it.

Power Chai! Full of spice and dairy free! Staff is always kind and ambiance welcoming. Patrons were also great about my littles as they happily munched cheesy bagels.

Dark Horse is fantastic. Incredibly friendly baristas who quickly learn your name and drink of choice. Great brekkie items like quiche and breakfast burritos. Sometimes a bit of a wait during busy times but no one in line cares. Its worth it.

There is a different brewed coffee each day which is okay for variety, but I would like to see a consistent house brew option available. Some mornings when there is a convention they will run out and it is not worth a wait. The regular full time staff are amazingly friendly and courtious, you will know right away if you have to deal with a part timer. The esspreso is high quality if you have time to wait during the week. The avocado toast is really good if youre hungry!

By far my favorite place in Anchorage to have a double shot espresso, sit down and enjoy it. Havent tried any of their other drinks and probably I never will. Really strong coffee.

I got yelled at when I closed the front door enough to open the fridge door directly behind it to get a drink. Your coffee smells great and I support local businesses but will not be coming back here. Its disappointing to come back to my hometown and be treated like that. Go somewhere else!
