Gage came and removed many trees. The last time 4 trees from the yard. David returned to remove the stumps and I am telling you he was awesome! We now have green grass. Thank you Gage and thank you David. We couldn’t be more pleased. Highly recommend this company.
Not fare. I work there. I do feel we are the best tree service in Alaska. Its been a real rough go for the last 2 years, but I think we are over the hump.
Gage Tree Service was the only service in Anchorage who was more than willing to help rescue my cat out of a tree after hours. They were kind and responsive, and showed up just as we got him out ourselves, and did not charge us anything. Highly recommend to anyone who needs these types of services.
I had Gage remove a big-dead spruce tree. I couldn’t believe how fast the tree was gone. The crew cleaned up after and were carefully not to tear up my yard.I also had the stump removed. After the stump was ground out, the one-man operation cleaned up and leveled the dirt. I’ll use Gage for any other tree issues.
Gage was recommended by a family member who is very knowledgeable about yard improvement. I called and found the nicest, most helpful person answering their phone. Great Impression! So I hired them to help me with the tree removal of a huge dying tree. They were excellent at this task so I hired them to plant new trees and transplant a tree whose roots were too close to the house. Again they arrived at the appointed time and replanted the tree in another location. Next I hired them to put Christmas lights (Yes, they also do that!!) around the contours of the roof and a few trees. Anther five star job, so they just finished making my house festive for another Holiday. They have the BESTEmployees who have become Friends over the years. And it started with the kind and friendlyperson who answers the phone at the Gage Office.
Best customer service hands down. I am so thrilled to have such a wonderful experience with this company. Also they were the first estimate we called for and followed through with. I am literally overjoyed with their work ethics and would recommend to anyone in who needs a tree removal ( those spruce trees arent going to magically come back alive folks)! Plus it was WAY more affordable than I was originally thinking which made the process even smoother. All around- AMAZING!
Put me right to work, love the new experiences.learn something new eveyday.
These guys are the greatest! They definitely deserve a raise. They chopped down 15 Trees in one day!!!
We hired Gage Tree Service as they were one of the contractors listed for a dead spruce tree removal program and they had the cheapest quote to remove a dead spruce tree from our backyard, the stump, as well as a cottonwood tree and stump. Our experience started off well enough. They came out in a timely manner to give us an estimate. The problems started once we received our estimate. For almost a month we couldnt get anyone to return our calls/emails about scheduling the work. After about a month my husband did get in touch with someone. We were told the scheduler would be in touch. Two weeks would pass, no word. My husband would call and we would wait two weeks. As part of the incentive program we are participating in, the tree had to be removed by the the end of this month. Needless to say, we were growing concerned that the deal would fall through. Then this morning out of nowhere my husband received a call that they we coming to cut the two trees down today. Luckily, we were working from home today to be able to receive them. I thought it was rude and unprofessional to give such short notice with no prior communication that our house was even scheduled. The crew showed up and completed the work. They did do damage to our property in the process. They damaged our fence when they were taking out a tree stump, there is now a hole about 2-3 feet wide in our chain link fence. They also drove their heavy equipment onto our yard (after days of rain). Once they drove off we noticed a long and deep rut in our side yard where the tire dug into the wet ground. We have not received our bill yet from the company but discounts for the damage or plans to come and repair the damage had better be part of our next round of communications. This all happened today so the company has not had time to respond, but at the moment I am not impressed with the service we received and would not recommend this company.
They did a pretty good job you know getting the tree cut down. They took the brush away and cut the logs in nice lengths. I definitely think they could have cut the stump lower than what they did but it is what it is. There communication was also not the best. Overall good though.
Top notch service, start to finish! Gage Tree Service did a wonderful job pruning the out of control tree in my yard. The consultation with the trimmer made me feel at ease and the pricing was very competitive. Highly recommended!
My neighbor used Gage Tree in the past and highly recommended to me. I am very happy with their work. Best value in town.
I hate to be that review writer, but one of your employees reflected poorly on the professionalism of your business by driving one of your trucks aggressively on the Glenn Highway this morning (3/12/20) about 7:15am. The truck was weaving back and forth between lanes and tailgating folks who were already exceeding the speed limit. You may have a great tree service business, but your employees should be more mindful of how their driving reflects on your businesss reputation. You probably just lost some business from a lot of Glenn Highway commuters this morning.
I’ve been using Gage for years. From inspection of trees to removal to clean up they do a great job. Highly recommend.
Great experience! Setting up a consultation/estimate was easy. They were on time & had very reasonable prices. I had a good size pile of tree branches, saplings, and other yard debris. They chipped it & hauled all away super fast!
Did a great job but showed up at the wrong time.
Levi was extremely helpful in addressing my tree concerns. Very knowledgeable and attention to detail. Work was performed in a timely fashion with a crew second to none. Would recommend
Worst company I have ever worked for! The Anchorage branch manager is very poor at his job and very good at lying to your face and making excuses. They will tell you they want to retain talented employees and take care of them but in all actuality its all lies.Actions speak louder than words. They are advertising that they offer paid vacation, which they do not have. No benefits either. Also, I would get tips from clients by credit card or check which I never received. When I confronted the manager about it he said that they have no way of knowing that they received a tip even though the amount paid was more than the due bill. I was also told they put tips in an employee fund to help pay for employee softball games, only a few staff played, and other events which never happened, but when Christmas rolled around they said they couldnt afford a Christmas party or bonus for only about 10 guys. Lies, lies, and more lies!Gage tree service also highly encouraged us to NOT use workmans comp when injured so that their rates wouldnt go up, but rather offered to pay out of pocket. I was forced to work in unsafe conditions with run down equipment that would break routinely. Over worked and underpaid!Basically they are a very shady company to work for and will fire you the second they dont need you or bring up problems with the company that they dont want to hear about.
In the summer they helped clear out the trees that were far overgrown for their location. Good initial meeting and then the job was done ahead of schedule. In the winter they put lights on the outside of my building - which is really eye catching. When lights need replaced, it is as easy as sending a text to the salesman/manager and it is done in just a few days. The crew that does the work is courteous and respectful of the businesses in the building and the property. We are very happy with their work - Thank you!
7 trees in three and a half hours!!!!! Wow, what a crew! The guy who climbs the trees and tops them, working all the way back down is incredible. The ground crew work FAST!!! Everything was ground up and they were out of here quickly. I recommend this crew!!!! Eagle River, AK
Jessie and Justin came and put the finishing touches on my Christmas lights and decorative garland. They graciously gave me a lesson on how to use the timer and were prompt and professional. The house is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
The lights they put up in downtown Palmer bring me such Christmas joy! I’m impressed by the quality of their work and appreciate their timeliness when it comes to getting lights repaired after wind storms
Gage Tree Service was responsible for the clean up for our entire neighborhood. They arrived and completed the job on the first day they were expected. The staff was very friendly and performed outstanding work. During clean up the truck accidentally clipped our mailbox. The employee immediately notified us of the damage, and replaced the mailbox and numbers that same evening. Sometimes its hard to find professional service these days, but this service was top notch. Highly recommended.
We have used Gage tree service twice. The first time last summer to remove twelve dead trees. Yesterday to clear all brush and stumps. Their crews are the best I have seen. Professional, efficient, friendly and thorough. The finished work is perfect. Anyone needing tree or yard services could not do better than Gage!
Have used Gage for snow removal, tree replanting, alder/brush clearing and tree trimming. A service was great, employees pleasant and got our moneys worth.
Truly knowledge with trees, pleasant and helpful staff, Ill only use them in future
Gage does great work but their prices are out of control. Recent estimate of $1200. for removing two trees, followed up by Greatlands estimate of $900. and had the work done by Affordable Tree Removal for 750.00. Quite a difference!
We are always pleased with the hard work that they do ! We had a new lawn put in, but before the lawn was the clearing of the trees, stumps & bushes. Very Fast & Efficient Service, they cleaned up our mess and the new lawn is in. We have used Gage Tree Service for the past 15 years and will continue for all our outdoor yard projects.
Why do I love this place? They pay me to.
I have mixed feelings about Gage. I have used them 2x now to take down trees in my backyard. Both times they dropped a branch on something and broke/damaged it. The first time they dropped a large branch from the birch they were taking down and it split my lilac tree. I was left to deal with the aftermath of fixing it up, and fortunately, it got better. After that incident I went to their shop a couple times to just buy wood chips. Those experiences arent bad and they do have a couple of nice guys who have helped me out. If you want to tip them, tip them in cash! The second time I hired them was this summer to cut a leaning birch down in my backyard. I tried to get everything as clear as possible since it was in a tricky position. And I spoke with the gentleman and his trainee and told them about my concerns about what happened last time. I asked to be very careful to not damage the three ornamental trees below the one they were cutting. I even asked him if I should move anything else before he started. He said no. Anyway, ultimately he dropped a piece of the trunk, it bounced and shattered my landscaping light. I also had to help with taking down the branches because his helper wasnt necessarily being as careful as he shouldve been around my patio lights. Im not sure why they didnt call in another guy to help so I didnt have to work on the job I hired them to do. I will at least say that they did discount our bill to cover the damages. If you have a tree you need cut down and its not in a difficult spot then I dont see any problems. Otherwise, give yourself enough time to shop around and get quotes from reputable companies.
Got 3 quotes and this one was the highest by over 1000 dollars. What they have is availability, they could get it done fast than anyone else but Im not in that big of a hurry
Didnt show up for scheduled appointment. Took time off work to meet for an estimate on removing a large birch from my property, but they never showed up. Got a cop out answer from the office staff that I originally made the appointment with. Unacceptable... moved on to a more reliable tree cutting service.
Appreciate Gage Tree for handling a mishap with power outage and neighbors trees.
Gage tree service is awsome this was my 3rd tree cut by them . They were ontime and very speedy concidering it was a 60 foot spruce. Dropped it without touching any of my surrounding landscaping and when they were done and cleaned up you would never know they were there. Thanks for a job well done. Looking forward to you cutting down another one.
Gage Tree Service did a great job trimming our trees and brush and then did an execellent job grinding three stumps left over from the 2012 Fall storm in Anchorage. This is the second time we have used the firm. They are all friendly and hard workers.
Finally a service in Alaska that does you right !! If you are not happy with the job that Gage Tree Service does, you simply can not be pleased !! They went way beyond my expectations and they did it fast and very neat and orderly. The way stuff grows around here, you need people and services that understand how to do it right the first time !! THANK YOU !!!
Went in for an interview for a tree climber position. No receptionist, the place was a mess, as I had to sit on raggedy couch. The manager was polite but towards the end of the interview he mentions to me that I came looking for work at the worst time and that he has no work. Said he even has some of his employed climbers out of work here and there. The next day I look on Craigslist and find an ad listing for the exact title I went in applying for posted that same day! Basically i was told a white lie. Also during the interview the manager was asking inappropriate questions regarding my girlfriends income and work history (asking if she is on a welfare check and what agency) which had nothing to do with the position or me as a prospective employee. During the interview a gentleman walks in and disclosed that someone who works with the company came to him with a Gage Tree Service chainsaw offering to sell it. Meanwhile theyre talking and Im sitting there thinking, arent we in the middle of a interview here ..?Time management, visitor servicing environment on site, honesty, theft/safety, organization and cleanliness was not up to par.
I used Gage to put up a christmas tree. Wow, it looked great, and then......Its been a battle for 6 years to get the tree re-adjusted. Every year the lights go out here and there, as expected. But what I didnt expect is crappy follow up.Just like another reviewer, After making appointments to have a guy come out and discuss what to do to maintain said tree. nada. guy doesnt show up. This happened twice this week. Taking time off from work for a no show is unprofessional. Theyve made agreements to show up to re adjust the tree, last year, and then two weeks later, nada.more no show. Ive made phone calls and left messages, no return calls after four days.....From their reviews it sounds like they do a great job of tree removal, but when it comes to maintaining a 3,500$ dollar tree decorating job.you are out of luck.who wants to turn on a 3,500 dollar tree and have half the lights out?not me,I started calling in early september, left messages, its now late october. These guys have enough business to loose and not care.for your tree decorating needs, try someone else,------------------update, it is now another year, 2016,I called in september, no return phone call.I called early october, appointment made, no one showed up.I called again the next week, answering service told me Id get a return phone call, nope.I waited a week and rented my own cherry picker to do it myself.I am glad I did, first off, it was cheaper to do the work yourself,I discovered the guys wrapped the tree tight with the light strings, no hangars, no loose fitting, at the top of the tree the tree was growing into the wire, so tight. yes, I realize trees grow, but you need someone to show up and work on the tree to accommodate growth. Also, rather than go up and down the tree, they went around and around, making it harder to adjust the strands looser to accommodate growth, poor foresight.the owners website quotes, accountability, customer satisfaction, making it right, returning phone calls.I have experienced none of the above.I suspect if you are like me and get a tree up, you will get put on a do not return phone calls list, as christmas trees are high maintenance and a pain in the arse.I would have paid to have someone work on this tree.Gage taught me it is easier and cheaper to rent a lift and do it yourself.its a 55 ft tree.....yes it was easy.do it yourself.your tree will love you
We hired Gage for Christmas lighting services. They were friendly, responsive and did an outstanding job.
