Good job but kinda pricy. So went to batterie plus
I have used the services of the Alaska MacStore since it was at its previous location on Dimond. I have consistently been very happy with all aspects of their business. From helping me with technical issues to performing repairs, the entire staff has been extremely helpful, responsive, efficient, professional, and their charges are very reasonable. It is convenient to be able to park right out front of the store. I am grateful for their excellent services.
Awesome small business! The staff is all super nice and ridiculously smart! They take the time to listen and then offer their recommendations on what you need or what they can do to fix your Apple issue. They are an independent business separate from Apple, so they don’t work for free, but really the original Apple techies before there was ever an Apple store downtown. It’s a business you can trust! They saved the day and install more memory when my laptop was crashing due to low memory space available. I have even just needed Apple cords and called to see if they have it. If they don’t, they will order it for you and call you when it gets in. They treat their customers the way small businesses used to treat their customers back in the day. They are reasonably priced, trustworthy, really want their customers happy! They go above and beyond for them! You can’t go wrong going here for any of your Apple needs, but you could go wrong going anywhere else!
These guys a great.... Good service, knowledgeable, timely.
I brought in an older iPhone 5 of mine that the battery had gone out on. My dad was still running an iPhone 4 which was so outdated they were not putting updates out for it. For $60 they put a new batter in the iPhone 5 and its been working like a charm for him for the past several months without any issues.
Quick and friendly experience.
Called the MacStore and explained the issue with iPhone 8 camera prior to visit. Over the phone, I was advised that (sounded confidently) I have to replace a camera for $100 and they have a computer to identify the root cause failure (hardware or software). I stopped by the store and left my phone for troubleshooting. An hour later I called and they told me that the brand new camera part did not fix the issue, and apparently, they didnt use a computer to test it??!?!? Then, they said its likely to be software or board problem. (I had to pay them $50 which is understandable as it was for diagnostic fee.) But, there was a piece of dust or hair inside of the camera. I went back and asked them to remove it. I waited for 45 minutes to have my phone back. There was a mark on the edge of the screen where they might have pry-opened screen. I got tired of waiting for nothing and it is inexpensive iPhone 8 device so I just let it go and will not go back there again.
They do not stand behind their work. Product itself is great, their craftsman ship is not up to quality. Would not recommend anyone to this store to repair any product.
I called a local apple store and asked if they could look at my Mac and see whats wrong with it and i said i believe its one of two things but i couldnt confirm this without another mac so i asked if i could get it checked out and they said yeah and i asked how much would it cost to look at and they said there would be no charge so they told me to bring it to one of there stores or authorised retailers so i want here and asked them to take a look and wanted to charge me over 100$ to take a look so long story short i said no way and never went back to this wretchedly terrible store not to mention they had a sign that said to check if something was wrong would cost 20$ not over a 100$
I have never quite had an experience like this before. I trusted this store based on reviews and for 700.00 they returned my computer with no data. I had years of photos all my passwords. I’m a writer, I had stories. Now I have zero. But my computer does work. They didn’t mention this option would lose all my data and I didn’t know to ask. Why would i put 700 into a computer and lose everything. They just kind of shrugged their shoulders and charged my card. Robbery.
Apple stores were closed during the pandemic. I had issues with my brand new Apple Watch. Apple care assured me this 3rd party would be fast, and responsive. I was tickled to have my watch looked at. It was in a locked like sleep mode. No one had ever seen this issue. Dropped in and gave them my watch. The new guy there was learning so was trying to be patient and understanding. The big boss came to assist. Showed him the ropes and let me know they couldn’t do anything in person. It would be needed to sent to Sacramento. 2 weeks later I call and ask the status and I’m told they have been calling me since and listed me the wrong number. Needless to say that was strike one. No apology given. Then I’m told I need to be in person to Trouble-shoot. This is a new person a female. I let her know to check the stores notes, we tried to everything we could. She sends it to Sacramento 2 weeks later then estimated.I’m called back from this same female employee to pick up my watch. I’m excited! I get there and wait 20 mins for my turn at the register. She starts with. “ They only had it for 2 days. So I don’t think they did anything to it. Has a note on it saying. “ couldnt recreate issue “”I basically let her know that’s frustrating. They had plenty of notes. They could see it was not paired and in a locked status. She agreed and blamed it on Apple. Told me another customer has done this 5 times. They should have given me aheads up that it wasn’t fixed, and not to waste my time coming here. She proceeds to be rude, and defensive and tells me “ I’m lovely to deal with”If you want to be disrespected, and your time wasted. Feel free to pick this establishment. I will NEVER use this place again. So unprofessional on so many levels.
Great service, quick, clear communication about cost and options, and they helped me with some warranty work I didn’t realize I was eligible for.
I found a MacBook Air and took it to Anchorage to see if I could get help locating its owner. The official Mac Store downtown rebuffed me, refusing to even plug it in to see if it worked. The independent, authorized repair facility Alaska Mac Store was very helpful. They plugged it in to charge and boot it, Got the owner’s name, left messages on Facebook and Instagram for him, and even agreed to hold onto it for the owner, who had it in his hands the next day. Great service even for non-customers. Now I know where to take my Apple devices.
What nice guys! They were professional yet courteous and explained to me things I need to do regularly to keep my Mac in good shape. They also removed an app that was spying on me. Great service at a great price!
I can’t recommend Alaska MacStore enough. From my initial phone call just to ask questions to when I walked out the door with my upgraded Mac, they were top notch. They were so helpful and knowledgeable about the questions I had. When I took my computer in to have the RAM upgraded and an SSD I stalled on a time crunch, they completed everything in under an hour! I’m so pleased with everything and totally stoked on my like-new computer.
Great customer service! Havent had anytime on my newer computer, but will update after Ive had time to test the product.
Counter service is friendly, they seem to do an OK job, however, I was told I would be notified as soon as the work was done. I was never notified, and left three phone messages over the course of four days never receiving a single call back as to the status of the phone I left to be repaired. Finally I was able to call and got someone on the line where I got an answer to my question. They need to do a much better job of communication with customers.
These guys gave me better service than the Apple store! My iPhone quit charging so I took it to the Apple store. They took a quick look at it and said it looked like the charging port was fried and they couldnt repair it, but they could sell me a new one. No thanks. So I called the Alaska MacStore and they said drop it off for an hour and theyd see what they could do. I came back 45 minutes later and they had pulled out a fragment of a broken lightning cable that was blocking the port. Problem solved, and the price was fair. Highly recommended.
Have an iPhone 5 that had an intermittant home button operation problem. A tech opened it to see that a swollen battery was actually the likely problem. Left it with them and got a call back in a few hours. All fixed. 99 bucks. That was the issue.Very fast. Very accurate.
I am so happy with the service we received. I feel like I can trust their extensive knowledge in helping me with my computer issues.
Avoid this place at all costs. Two weeks ago I came in to inquire about having a screen replacement done on an Iphone 6S. I asked about the time frame. I was told that since it was on a Friday it would be mailed to Apple on Monday and I would have it back by the next Wednesday. I called on that day and was told someone would check and call me back. No call ever came. I called again the next day still calm and was told it was not back but someone would check and call back. Yet again no one called back. The next day I went in personally and was told Apple still had it. I requested that someone call Apple and check because I had to have the phone back. They said they would get the manager on it (who just happened not to be in) they said he would check and call back. Again no call back. I have been down there two more times and called one more time. Two weeks later and still have no answer and no call back. Now I have had to purchase a new $900.00 phone because I had to have it and still no phone. AVOID THIS PLACE. Rude and unresponsive employees that just blame Apple. They never follow up. If I could give them 0 stars I would.
Fast and knowledgeable service. Very courteous staff. Computer repaired within 24 hours. New entrance at back of the building allows for a more professional entrance. Highly recommend Alaska MacStore.
They are not bad. They are just a glorified middle man. If you want to just buy a computer, you might as well just go straight to apple. They have to wait just like everybody else in town for the new products to come out. I bought a custom computer (top of the line) about 3 weeks ago and they still cant even tell me when it will arrive. They are knowledgeable, but I wouldnt ever go to them for help. Computer Renaissance right down the street from them are much better equipped to handle repairs and equipment. Just my opinion, but I wont be doing business there anymore.
Who could ask for more. Repair, Apple Support, shipped in and out quickly......I recommend these guys. They save my butt and my computer. Thanks loads
They never returned my phone call, but when I walked in they were prompt, courteous and patient, so the star rating is for that. They confirmed my issue (MacBook Pro battery was dying and causing the whole thing to run unusually hot) and fixed it right on the spot at a reasonable rate. Thank you!
Great store, really good customer service, and they really try to understand your tech issue or situation.
I am only giving this business a second star as the only nice thing was the front desk lady who took my laptop back twice. I came in for a repair under AppleCare, cool. They had to take my laptop overnight to diagnose the problem & pricing with Apple, cool. I get a call back the next day and say they can order the part and have it ready overnight, cool. Day two I get a call saying the part is causing my trackpad to heat, need to order a part that is not faulty, cool. Call day three, say that they are still working on part will have to wait until Monday, cool.Next week, I go and I get my laptop on a Thursday. Run home to turn it on, it looks amazing! Its like I never had an accident with it. I went to turn on my study music only to realize the sound doesnt work. I went back, they apologized and stated that the soundboard was broken, ok. They explained they can order a new one for me. Today is two days shy of them having my computer on/off with problems. I drop it back off today for them to switch the soundboard, they said they will call me back in one hour, cool. I get a call back one and a half hours saying the computer if fixed, cool.I go back to pick it up and was explained its all fixed. I run back home to watch a video lecture to see that my right side of my speaker has 100% sound output, whereas my right side only has about 25% sound output. This issue is not fixed, after being reassured that it is.I am not impressed with the quality of the repair. Customer service is decent though. Im bummed I spent $100 on this repair. I will be getting in touch with Apple to see if theres any other options.
Fantastic service. Quick, courteous, highly recommend.
Oh my, Joe at Alaska Mac Store was ever so helpful. I have always been a fan of the store and have been going there since my first mac purchase years ago. I go there for all my purchases and tech support and they are always reasonable and helpful. today they surpassed themselves. Joe helped me with a minor (but very annoying) problem that has plagued me for at least four years. He worked with me and taught me not only how to fix it today but how to keep it fixed...and didnt make me feel foolish in the process. Thank you Joe.
These guys rock!! When it was time to buy a new iMac, I wanted to shop locally. Jack was super helpful and made my purchase easy and smooth. I made a mistake with the first model I chose (all my fault) and they worked with me to upgrade to the larger version. I walked out of their store feeling like they went above and beyond!! Later I decided to upgrade the RAM and Sierra got me all set up with what I needed. I love that they are a smaller, more personal store than going to the mall. Ill definitely be back for any of my future Apple needs!
Very poor experience. I have a broken phone and set up a screen repair appointment. I rushed in to make my appointment and called ahead of time as I was running a bit late to do traffic. I verified everything was good and set up and was told to bring it on in. After driving all the way from Chugiak I am just told briskly My calibration machine is down I had just called 30 mins before and was told everything was good and to bring it in. The store clerk had nothing more to offer and said nothing so I left. I do not appreciate the tremendous waste of my time.
These folks are super friendly, professional, knowledgeable, efficient and quite fair on prices. They were super patient with a technology luddite (me) who REALLY needs help when it comes to computers. In addition to removing Spyware, cleaning up my iMac and getting my iPhone and iMac mailboxes reconciled, they actually provided good tutelage and made me a bit more savvy. Ill certainly return to these guys if I EVER need tech support again. Theyre fabulous.
Great class & teacher. It was nice to have another guy able to help on an individual basis thanks for offering these classes & for free!
My iPhone 8 the screen was black out and I cannot see anything so I take my iPhone to Alaska Mac I was taking to joe he told me the phone was broken but my iPhone still have the warranty from Apple he have to ship my iPhone out to apple so they could send me a new one so I ask joe how long will it take Apple to ship me a new one he say it only take 24 hour so I agree with him Get my iPhone to him the next day i call him he say no not there yet he say Monday so I waited till Monday I call he say oh still not there yet he say maybe Wednesday. So Wednesday I call he didn’t still not answer my call so I walk in I ask him why it take so long he say because this and that so Friday day I walk he told my because they can’t not they cannot rum my iPhone that why Apple can’t send me a new one so he get my iPhone back and tell me to go to Apple store i think he a lire he didn’t not ship my iPhone out I been waiting for almost a week bad customer service I will never go to this store again.
I was trying to clean out my Macbook Air to give it to my younger brother. Needless to say I accidently erased my OS and nothing worked. My mom spent countless hours trying to fix it, many calls to the Apple Care agents.....nothing worked and Apple Care wanted over $200 to reinstall the OS. Alaska MacStore did it for $50.00 and the computer is like new. Thank you Joe for all your help and for the reasonable prices.
Took my iPhone into the store to be repaired, they were unable to repair it so I bought a new one using the apple warranty. Two months later my phone malfunctioned it couldnt be repaired, factory error. On multiple occasions, they insisted on replacing it with an AT&T iPhone and wouldnt get it that Verizon and AT&T are not compatible. I tried several times to talk to the manager, who had always just left. I took my phone and my business to the actual Apple Store who told me my phone was purchased over a year ago. This company scams...be very careful!
Super nice store. Very helpful and friendly. Good service and good workers. :)
We brought in our 2017 MacBook air for screen repair. When we got it back the screen was shifted over the edge of the bottom half of the laptop. And the trackpad did not have a click to it anymore. So we went to Apple directly, once we got to the Apple Store a genius took apart the MacBook to correct the mistake from Alaska MacStore and had told us that the housing was bent and battery was loose inside the device because the screw was screwed in so tight that it broke the plastic threads. Needless to say Apple has filed a report because the repair quality was very poor and the MacBook came back to us damaged.
I picked this store after researching various locations and am extremely happy with my experience there. I strongly recommend MacStore - fast service, friendly and knowledegeable staff - it doent get any better. They are geting all my future business and hope youll give them a try too. Youll be glad you did!
The guy was awesome, I was so frustrated but he was so patient and was able to help me 😊 The boys loved their paper airplanes too that he made for them
The service is awesome they were very helpful
Great staff!
Took my computer in to get the OS re-installed, and pre-paid the $50 fee. It was supposed to be done later that day. Went back to the store at the agreed upon time (2nd trip), and my computer wasnt done, but I was promised it would be done by then end of the day on Monday. Went back Monday (3rd trip), and my computer still wasnt done, but was promised that it would be done on Tuesday, and the store would call when it was ready. I did not receive a call on Tuesday, so at the end of the day, I called to check on the status, and was told not only were they unable to fix it, but that I would not be refunded my $50. So I went back to the store (4th trip) to collect my unfixed computer and speak to a manager about getting my money back, since they were unable to provide the service - but - no manager was there. Received a call the next day from the manager saying (rudely) that they would refund me. 2 weeks later, I still have not received my refund, and upon calling in AGAIN... I was told a manger will contact me at eventually to talk about the status of my refund. Thanks for wasting a ton of my time, being rude, and most importantly, charging me for a service you did not provide. I would give you 0 stars if I could.
Loved it, helped me update my Mac!
This store is a jokeVery poor service .
The staff is awesome and super helpful!
Had battery repaired, and system updated. Within my first few weeks of travelling the system starting crashing randomly, and now the battery wont charge at all, and the computer wont turn on
I had some complex issues & he resolved all of them. Thank you
It took 5 trips to get my replacement iPhone battery. Complete waste of time.
Store has moved to Lake Otis and Tudor near Golden Donuts
They dont sell phones 😥
