Have been taking my Subaru here since purchased it used years ago. They recently did a timing belt and replaced my head gaskets. The car is running better and quieter now then it has since I have owned it! Highly recommend them. JT and Jerry were great communicators and very easy to work with.

Small auto repair shop but good service and good people

I dont EVER give out 5 star reviews, but JT and his staff will get this one. He answered detailed questions on the phone prior to having my vehicle towed there, they called to confirm drop off by tow company, and were quick to call with diagnosis and with the repair. Additionally, they did NOT attempt to upsell to extra items that MIGHT be addressed, but explained them in the context of a 28 year old (but very reliable vehicle). In other words, yeah, we could spend hours looking for the minor oil leak, but if youre competent enough to check the oil regularly, its fine. Having run a service department in another industry, I appreciate this more than most. And any service writeup that describes my car as unhappy, especially when turning, gets my vote for having a genuine sense of humor about people and vehicles. Cannot recommend this business enough.

Great place to take your import in for repairs. The owner, JT, is a former Toyota dealership technician. Specialized Import offers ASE certified service on all imports, including newer high-end Audis BMWs and Mercedes. Unlike some other shops, JT has the computers the tools needed to service the cars that are so new that they are hard to fix DIY as well as the older vehicles that other shops just dont want to waste time on and put effort into. They accept cash, as well as visa and mastercard with the EMV chips. Since Covid, this local business is encouraging social distancing and masks are required here. There is sanitizer readily available as well.

One of my more interesting reviews. The only reason this place is getting a 1 star flunk rating is because the service writer (((((LIED))))) to me hands down when I read this invoice. No wonder he was hesitant to give me an invoice which I had to ask for and now I understand why. We had 3 conversations prior that he couldve informed me but I guess they dont want my network of potential business.🤷 I paid my bill prior to receiving the invoice which I had already complained about being over charged. The mechanic has no fault in this and they had more than enough opportunity to fix their faults with lack of honesty regarding rates. Just beware of this type of behavior. 👎

JT and Jerry have taken truly the best care of me and my cars over the years. They are kind, honest, caring, incredibly skilled, and give great advice. I won’t go anywhere else after going to them, like another reviewer said, I’d trust them with my life - they’re that good as a mechanic and as people.

Were able to take a look at my car with short notice (they saw it the same day, other mechanics and the dealership said it would be 5 days to almost a month before they could even take a look at it). My issue turned out to be a rock stuck in the rotor, they pulled it out and didnt charge me. Good, honest, helpful people; my new first choice for auto repair!

We have been using Specialized Import for years. I have been told I can get cheaper elsewhere. My reply is always, I dont care. They light heartedly fix my non mechanical selfs screwups and repeatedly give me less expensive options or tell me what I thought was needed was not. They could have easily taken advantage of my family countless times and have not. Work has always been good. Trustworthy and good - a recipe for my loyalty.

This is the only place I take my Tundra. Honest mechanics, excellent service and communication, reasonable prices. Thank you Jerry and JT.

Great fast service, they were able to look at my car and let me know what was going on promptly. They maintained great communication with me about options for fixing my vehicle and did everything they could to help me out. They also have one of the most reasonable labor rates that I have seen in town. We will definitely return.

The Specialized Import Auto team is very conscientious and customer service oriented. I recently experienced a transmission issue with my Toyota Tundra. The team replaced my transmission under warranty. I was simply amazed with Specializeds professionalism and ethics. You dont find a company like this very often. I am a repeat customer and highly recommend them to all my friends.

Ive found these guys after some frustrating issues with my lights on my 2007 Prius. They have helped me out a number of times and Ive been impressed EVERY time. Theyre friendly, courteous and professional - they also dont talk down to me when it comes to car stuff. I appreciate these guys and Im really glad Ive found them!

Great place to take my 2010 Subaru Forrester and always pleased with the service. I trust these guys with my life. Lets face it---if your car stops running in the middle of rush hour traffic you are in deep trouble. Besides my car smells clean after they are done with the servicing. I am a non smoker and fired my last mechanic because my car smelled like a carton of cigarettes were smoked inside. Im telling you these guys are great!!!

Jerry (counter guy) is the face of the shop and he does an outstanding job! Always answered the phone and covered my questions in detail so I understood everything. (I am not a car engine guy!) I always felt like they were being straight shooters and gave an honest/fair appraisal. Good guys!

I just moved to Anchorage from Fairbanks and my 2001 Subaru Forester needed some work. This shop was highly recommended to me by a couple of long-time customers.The shop exceeded my expectations- everything from making the appointment to speaking about the service needed to picking up my car-the customer service was top notch. Lucas and JT were honest, informative and helpful, the service was quick, affordable and thorough (without doing work that was not needed). Im an owner of a 2006 BMW 530xi sport wagon. Originally went to dealer to deduce and fix front end clunking noise. Received an action plan identifying front left & right sway bar links and control arm bushings w/ a corresponding estimate of $672 to repair [among other items with the alarming term of FAIL associated with them that totaled $3968.46 on top of the $672]. After paying $100 just for dealer action plan, I wanted a second opinion. Brought vehicle to Specialized Import Auto Service. They looked into sway bar link and control arm bushings and found they did not need full replacement. Specialized replaced only items needed, but more significantly, they accurately identified and fixed the clunking noise problem, which was actually the result of and associated w/ work previously done by dealer. Total charge for the latter was only $98 -- one hour shop labor. They are friendly, efficient, straightforward, knowledgeable and honest. Both counter service personnel and mechanics are clearly working to repair your vehicle without gouging you, the customer. I would highly recommend them for your import vehicle, including BMW, Mercedes, Volvo, and Subaru.

I bought an old beater of a car that needed a lot of work. This is the only shop I have taken it to and ever plan to take any car I own. I really trust these guys. I normally feel very vulnerable in mechanic shops because I am ignorant. Jerry, JT, and every mechanic there are all very professional and eager to show off their work and teach me what was wrong and how they fixed it. Cant say enough how grateful I am for their integrity and trustworthiness.

Had a great experience with these guys, super reasonable rates, very friendly, efficiently solve your problem. I was recommended by a friend who has been using them for 16 years.

While traveling more than 4,000 miles from home to Alaska up the Alcan highway, our 1996 Toyota Corolla experienced a serious leak in the brake line in the undercarriage in August / September of 2014. The local Toyota dealer in Anchorage could not readily obtain parts, and James Trueblood came to the rescue. He dropped everything else he was doing to immediately fix the problem. He handcrafted a fix from generic parts, replacing both the gas and brake lines -- successfully correcting the problem in a professional way, allowing us to drive the car again and return home to the eastern United States. His charges are fair and he is honest -- in my opinion he is likely the best auto mechanic in the state of Alaska.

3 stars because it took 3 hours to get an oil and some air filters changed while i sat there patiently waiting and was told it would only be 2 hours.
