Absolutely DELICIOUS authentic Egyptian food! I havent eaten most of these dishes since I moved out of my parents house and was so pleased with the menu. The food took quite some time to prepare but the chef is such a sweet woman and each dish had that unmistakable home cooked love. For any non-Egyptians not sure what to order: I recommend the Mombar and the Molokhiya with chicken. My girlfriend was hesitant but shocked at how delicious they were! No matter what you get though, you cant go wrong.
I visited the restaurant twice (in the same week) thats a good sign that I liked the food, overall it was a good experience and I had a good time with my family. quality of of food to an Egyptian food was very good. What I hope they could improve at speed of serving the food - my recommendation ask them while ordering, how long it would it take to have the food ready. time from serving first item in the order to getting the last item was more than an hour. overall cleanness of the floor, place around need to get better
The food, atmosphere, and service here are all excellent! This is definitely one of the most unique restaurants Ive been to around the OC. For my first experience with Egyptian cuisine, the waiter gave me some recommendations. The molokhia and stuffed pigeon were great, and I also ordered the fakhfakhina and oum ali. There were so many other menu items I still want to try, so Ill definitely be back for many more visits!
God! This restaurant is trashy from the parking lot to the lobby area. I hesitated to park in the parking lot because of the trash everywhere. When I went inside, I though it was an abundand building or something. I ordered beef liver, hummus, Mombar and Sayadeyeh fish. It was awful. Nothing tasted well. I had to ask for napkins and remind my server that I hadnt gotten my water yet. I dont know why they act so busy; there was only one table and I was second. NOT going back.
Unfortunately worst customer service. Three times weve requested to order food, but waiter never came back to get our order. The restaurant was not packed at all. Weve ordered hooka and weve got it after 45 minutes. Taste was horrible. We ended up only drinking mint tea. This is our first and very last time going there. Our advise NEVER GO THIS PLACE. If you go, you will be very SORRY!!!!!!!!
Best Egyptian food on the stateGreat service from the professional ZainCan’t wait to go back
Not only because I am an Egyptian that I would say this place is beyond amazing, but also because I have been there countless times and their service is amazing and the workers are friendly and funny.
Not the prettiest of places, and definitely not the best place to sit in if you dont like the heat of the kitchen, but the food was definitely good. We tried sitting outside, but the heat got to us so we moved inside. I went with a party of 11 and the food came out hot and fresh. The bashamel lacked seasoning, but looks amazing. The kooshari was incredible! My sister-in-law loved the stuffed pigeon, and my daughter ate up the moolokia. It wouldnt hurt to hire more servers and to clean a bit more
Nice little place, hookah was great. They do take a while though, only had 1 cook busting everything down in the kitchen. Nice outdoor area too.
I remember this place being good many years ago I recently went and its under construction. The service is terrible I ended up leaving!
Yummy food and lively atmosphere at night. Food is a bit pricey but very tasty. I wish the macaruna bechamel portions were larger considering the price. Its nice to have a place to get Egyptian food.
Love the homestlye egyptian dishes! I had the mossaka ans hawawshi. My husband loved the kawaraa, said it tasted like home! Then interior design could use some work. Food was great ambiance was meh.
This place was terrible. In no way shape or form was this food any good. If you want to do hookah then go ahead. But if you want good food please do not ever go again.
Service is mediocre. Food came late, didn’t ask us how things were going, we had to go up and ask for the bill, etc. They charge you for everything - even water is not free. The plate I ordered - Kushari - was not freshly cooked and it was obvious. It had that leftover food smell. For appetizers, we had liver and it was good but it was supposed to be spicy, and wasn’t.Only pro is that they serve authentic Egyptian cuisine, which is hard to find. Not sure if it’s that good tho since all their food is just OK.
Cairo restaurant was my first time trying Egyptian food. Im from LA, so I drove to Anaheim to give this restaurant a shot. Wow, was it eye opening. It was definitely a different kind of Middle Eastern food that Ive tried in the past. I was able to try a lot of the authentic Egyptian foods on the menu, which included the Stuffed Pigeon with rice, the Egyptian croissant, the salab, and the koshary. It was all really great. Apparently, these exact foods, you can find in Egypt as well, which is why I found the selections to be impressive. If you want Egyptian food, then Cairo restaurant is the place to go. The parking here is great too, which is a big plus. I shot two YouTube videos at this restaurant, which you can find on my channel Rockstar Eater if you want to see a virtual tour of the experience.
Awesome food, beautiful place, cooked with love. Great presentation and delicious taste
My girlfriend and I went during Ramadan for the iftar-buffet. Really nice variety of food and ALL of it was wonderful.Even the drinks and dessert were really good.
Delicious authentic Egyptian recipes, friendly and professional staff. Sanitization and Social distancing well considered. Great restaurant
Been a frequent customer since 2016, recently the quality of the food and service went down. Not going to eat there anymore.
Amazing food and amazing service. 110% recommend.
Egypt in Anaheim, whoa. I went to Egypt in December, and I felt like I was back in Cairo, at least food wise. The counter person recommended koshary, and it was a home run! Its healthy, too. I loved the homemade garlic sauce and the hot sauce that you can pour. The sauces made a real difference. I poured each on the other side of the dish, and tried both with koshary. I also ordered oum ali dessert, which came out hot. It was a bit sweeter than what I normally like, but it was pretty good. There is a huge hookah lounge on the side of the restaurant, and some smoke came into the restaurant, which made me feel a bit unpleasant because I dont smoke. Overall, the food was good, the prices were okay, the service was decent.
Do yourself a favor and go to mahrousa this place has the worst service anyone can ever ask for … seriously a shame to see my people being lazy in America too
Place is OK, clean sure.. place to go if sheesha is ur thing. Food is average at best
Nice food, though the lamb was bit chewy but babaganush, Hummus was excellent
The hookah is really good, i am syrian and i was amazed by the Egyptian food in this restaurant... thanks zain and hamada for the best service, you rock
Good and authentic Egyptian food. I like there open buffet in RAMADAN.
All the food is amazing, their catering is super excellentSimply woooow 🤙🤙🤙🤙
They have a very good variety of Egyptian food. They are very busy and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Thank you for the best Turkish coffee 😊
Quick in and out no b.s
This is a great restaurant to take 🇪🇬 lunch.
Bro, you down for Cairo?Time to check off another cuisine off my To Try list. Cairo Restaurant & Cafe is an Egyptian/Mediterranean restaurant & Hookah lounge. While not a smoker, I do enjoy my fair share (and then some) of food. Seeing Egyptian fare featured on Travel Channel programs & what not throughout the years, I finally capitulated toward my culinary curiosity.Doing my due diligence, I made some reconnaissance online to determine what I wanted. Not content for Mediterranean, I only had eyes for Cairos Specialty Entrees. I had my heart set on the stuffed Pigeon with rice/grits, but at $28.99, I couldnt justify the cost. Also, koshary is the national dish of Egypt. However, not being a huge fan of lentils, rice, pasta & garbanzo beans in combination, I wasnt feeling it. What I did order, were superfoods Egyptian-style - molokhia a la carte & Alexandrian beef liver w/ rice & baba ghannoujMolokhia-Known as saluyot to the Filipino community, and jute leaves in the West, I could instantly taste the garlic in this nourishing soup. Molokhia is mucilaginous, meaning the leaves act as a thickener, like okra. Not having a vegetable taste, each spoonful was fortifying & comforting, being rich in iron, niacin, riboflavin & other vitamins.Alexandrian Spicy Beef Liver-A lot of food! The liver was cooked well, with just enough spice to not burn out my palate. The baba ghannouj was excellent. Bright, creamy & cool, I couldve ordered more on the side, if I wasnt full. The rice & accompanying pita bread rounded out a sumptuous meal.Service was good. I didnt wait long for my food, and the woman accommodated my request for substitution. The interior is spartan & not the most inviting. I didnt check out the hookah patio, but I suppose Id sit outside, next time. The parking lot was messy with trash, when I arrived. I imagine Cairos business mainly comes at night. The area seeming a little dodgy, Id recommend bringing a +1 or group when planning a visit.Color me impressed, Cairo Restaurant & Cafe! Your molokhia hit the spot & Im now jacked up on Vitamin A from your Alexandrian spicy beef liver. Prices are reasonable, and even on the lower end of the spectrum, when compared to several eateries in nearby Little Arabia. I look forward to having a go at the rest of the menu, and maybe, just maybe, Ill splurge & order the stuffed pigeon, after all.
Awesome and various choices for the Iftar-Buffet, excellent dessert dishes and outstanding customer service.
Food is OK, more people come at night for hookah than for actual food
Food taste very inauthentic and does not taste anything like real Egyptian food. When I was driving on Katella ave I took a turn left on Dino circle and was able to look at the back of the restaurant. I cant tell you how disgusting it looked. Very poor hygiene, terrible customer service, ridiculously high prices (compared to other restaurants in the area), and the food is not even delicious. I cant think of one good thing to say about this place
Wasnt good experience .. the service was bad and we get the buffet we paid 25 each .and wasnt even food to eat.I found just the bones from chicken when I asked the lady she said was on the oven I wait 30 minutes and nothing . she just brought a piece of chicken because suppose to be in the oven still .. and all night had stomach and nauseas .. last time I visited that place .. ..
Very good food and their koushary is the best.the staff are friendly and respectful.Would recommend it to anyone
Great Egyptian food and reasonable prices.
Terrible customer service at this place!! I told him our plates one was too raw and the other overcooked and dry and his response is sorry about that no bother to fix anything!! If your looking for good food and good service this is not your place!! Not worth the money or the drive at all. Never again!!
Best Arabic food in AnaheimEverything you want and crave Is on their menuClean fast and organizedLove this place
Been going there for years.Service is pretty good, had a down time where service was so bad but it picked up again.Food been always great. So far so good.
After waiting for 30min, someone came and took our order finally (thats what we thought at least).. then after 15 more minutes, I asked the same person to add two appetizers to the order.. then 15 minutes later, another arrogant guy comes and asks for our order.. told him we already placed our order at least 20min back.. he went and came back saying that they did not take our order and asked for it again???????At this stage, it was completely insane and unprofessional ....... never again to visit such poor restaurant, irresponsible and insulting staff ...Not sure how they are staying in business but I assume some customers like to be ignored and insulted !!!!!!!!!Disgrace to any Egyptian to have this place called Cairo... Jordanian waitress thinks he is next thing after sliced bread but he is actually a piece of %^*+Wasted 2 hours of our Sunday.
Oh my God, first time had egyptian food and it was great experience, food quality, great service and affordable price, thank you .
A Place to remind me with my home country Egypt
Food is good and the service was great
Foods delicious but often too crowded! I go there every week sometime 2 3 times a week coz Foods good.they have this Mediterranean flavour that one might like. Recommend to try atheist once
I went yesterday at 6 Pm with my family and friends we asked for 2 mixed grilled the food was Cold and the meat Taste was weird And it was uncooked as well we left most of our plate and we went to another place it was very disappoint This place was usually provid a good Food
The service was very badThe food was cold and taste it was so bad
Horrible good taste. Food was reheated and not fresh. This place is only good for Hookah
Sandwich shawarma is very bad and awful and the meat is burned and I didnt recommend to eat there again and I think they made the sandwiches from leftover meat
Great food but bad service, the servant looks at the ground so u can not catch him and ask him something, the owner should increase the number of servants
Good food. Not as good as moms but close
Amazing customer service and food was delicious
Worst service irrespectable management!! Arrived 25 mins late after a 2 hour drive with a group of 11 people and a reservation on the phone, to be told that since I am late and they got more calls, and now they are busy, I will have to leave in an hour... I was never told they had any of these restrictions and the manager was totally irrespectable walking away while we are talking to him!! If you are the owner, your Manager Mohammed made you lose 11 clients just by not being professional and ofcourse losing all future clients that I would never recommend the restaurant again... infact he gave me an in correct number for you when I asked to file a complain!
I’m having hard time conveying how horrible is this place starting with how terrible was their welcoming attitude and how bad, poorly cooked and tasteless the food was . I will never recommend this place to any one .
Best egyptian desserts, they make it fresh and the prices are great. You can order online and go pick it up. If they have a drive through will be amazing.
Like the place and love the food. My recommendation is egg plant with ground beef. 😍
Best Kushary ever
We went during the day. It was less crowded at that time. We were a party of 5 people and everyone thought that the food was great. The service was great as the waiter explained the items on the list as we asked about the.I thought that the coffee was awesome also.
Okra Castrol is fairly a great choice to try there. Egyptian noodles rice was delicious too. Fresh 🥗 salad could use some more 🍋😋. Great service and food was worth waiting for. Good luck 👍 to All.
I live in san diego and go there once a month! Food is 10/10 I’ve tried their breakfast and LOVED IT! Reminds me of my visits to Egypt! Koshari, mombar and molokhya are so great! All of their drinks are amazing especially their fresh fruit cocktails and watermelon juice.Staff are nice, might need more servers but I Highly recommend this place!
Be prepared to wait at LEAST an hour for your food!
I love their food, but waiters dont wear uniform so i cant take them serious
The great spot for food and hookah
I love their food!
I just love their cleaning service.. also Turkish coffee &platter was dam good
Food was great. The loud music was annoying.
The atmosphere at Cairo is very nice and lively. The food is remarkable and the service is very pleasant and friendly. I come here every chance I can.
Got okra stew, liver and hamam mahshy with malokhia. Every single one of them was bland. Will not return.
They are the best restaurant offer Egyptian traditional foodI like it a lot
This place has the smallest portions its unbelievable the lamb chops have less meat on them then a chicken wing and there was only two for 24 dollars
Poor customer service and bland food. Never going back.
The coffee and tea are great. The service was great!
Ol customer service. Food is horrible. Old food get reheated. This place is good for nothing but Hookah
Im pretty sure I will be back soon 😍
They forgot to bring my order as it was one hour to closing I waited and waited and the. Just decided to leave then they brought my order in a plastic bag as I was paying. Hookah was not the best either.
