Bill is amazing shop owner and a must visit in the area for anyone looking for fishing gear or bait.I walked in a random day with my rod and two jigs I had purchased. I let Bill know I was a total newbie and didn’t have a clue how to tie the rig. He taught me how to tie my own fluke rig and tied one for me. He charged me nothing!!! What a great guy!!!!Go to Combs. You won’t regret it.

Bill is a man of his word. Told me he would get a reel in for me in 3 days. 3 days later my reel was ready to pick up! Talked for a little and was on my way. Stand up guy and a great shop. A+

They have a huge selection on everything that you might need. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I also think their prices are very reasonable

I am a disabled senior citizen. Today I stopped by at Combs B&T for the first time where I met Bill the owner. I told him I was looking for a light/medium boat rod with a long butt handle. The old saying they dont make em like they used to comes to mind with these new fishing rods these days. For whatever reason most handles are shorter then rods made years ago?When I fish off a boat I like to keep the handle tucked way under my arm and my hand on the reel. Bill suggested that if I cant find a rod with the handle I like he could put on an extension for me. I have shopped B&T shops from Emmons Ave. in Brooklyn to Montauk Point and NEVER have I had such friendly service as I had today.Because I have trouble with my breathing, Bill brought out a chair from the back so I could sit. That makes me feel this man really cares about his customers, these days thats hard to find.We got to talking about fishing lines mono vs braided and Bill brought out a diagram showing me how lines differ using different weights with mono and braided line. I was talking with him for a good hour or so as his customers came and went. I bought a beautiful rod there today and Bill is going to add on about 3-4 inches to the handle, when I go back to pick up the rod I will bring my reel, so Bill can put fresh line on it.I look forward to Bills call to pick up the rod. I walked out of Combs B&T today feeling as if I ran into my long lost friend. Today I had a great day thanks to Bill at Combs B&T !!! Joe G.

An avid and longtime fisherman, Over the years, Ive been to all the shops on LI. They all have the same tackle, same prices, nice guys. But Combs is the only place I will ever go. Billy always shows me the spots to go to, pulls out his map and points me in the right direction. Hell recommend a different lure than the one I picked, even if its cheaper. He was a fishing captain back in the day and has been running this shop since the 80s- this guy knows his stuff. He knows the channels, the hot spots, what bait to use to reel them in, and always has on his scanner/radio checkingnin with all the guys out on the water and listening to where the fish are biting, what the hot spots are, and where theres no fish to be found- hes got the inside track and is literally knows in real-time where the action is. He helped my neice for forty five minutes, showing her how to use a pole for the first time, how to use bobbers, he was so great with her. All my buddies go there and refuse to go anywhere else, even if they have to drive a little bit of a distance. In my humble opinion, best tackle shop on Long Island- not because of what they sell, but the tips, tricks, info and time he gives to each and every customer that walks through that door. Lifetime customer for life, right here.
