The store is great. The product quality for the price is much less than expected. We purchased two gallons in Ankeny and two gallons in Ames. Colors did not match.

Great store with knowledgeable staff & quality paint and supplies. The only place in Ames that stocks my favorite short comfort grip paintbrush - so perfect for cutting in and doing trim.

What a company! Ive always been a fan of Sherman-Williams but today they went above and beyond. My paint somehow crapped out sitting inside my home in a climate controlled basement. Its only 1.5 years old and I went to patch a wall and the paint wasnt useable. It had somehow became a lump in the bottom of a milky liquid. The gentlemen that helped me out at the counter got approval from his manager to replace my paint for me. I was going in there expecting a replacement but I was prepared to pay for it at maybe a discounted rate for my inconvenience but wow was I impressed when they said it was on them. They have earned my business for a lifetime. Thats quality service.

I stopped in to buy masking tape but was unable to locate the exact type I was looking for. The 2 store employees working were both busy helping other customers so I waited patiently for one of them to be free. After a bit, another customer walked in and was greeted. I was not ever greeted. When one employee became available, he asked the customer who came in after me how he could help. I looked at them both and said I had not been helped, or greeted and I was in line before the man who was now being helped. So I left. Obviously my business was not important to them. I went to Lowes down the road instead where I was greeted by 3 cheerful employees and one of them took me to the item I needed. Sherwin Williams is a much smaller store and I would think they would have better customer service. I was wrong. I will not be shopping at Sherwin Williams again. Lowes will have my loyalty and my business now. Thanks Lowes!

The employees are always very friendly and helpful. Offer to take things to your car. Dont treat you like an idiot when you dont know whats going on. The only thing I would say is that you should be mindful of up-sales. They recommended a paint that was too top of the line for what I needed. I had no idea, and now Ive paid about $400 more than I needed to. Make sure you dont let them oversell you.EDIT: I changed this to a five star rating. After seeing my review, they called and offered to give me money back since there was a sale coming up. This is what customer service looks like.

They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I wanted to stain my front porch and wasn’t sure where to start. They helped me pick out the kind and color of stain and reminded me about brushes, trays, etc.. Definitely would not have known what to buy without them!

Literally ran over 5 of their 5 gallon paint buckets and not a single one broke open. 10/10 buckets.

It’s the best paint I have ever worked with. I have tried different brands, but none cover as well, or apply as smoothly. It also holds up to wear and tear well.

I work at home remodeling and therefore buy a decent amount of paint. Sherwin Williams is my go-to store for paint and paint supplies. They have excellent customer service and carry great products. One of the employees Ethan is especially knowledgeable and helpful.

The sales person apparently did not know what shellac was. That’s downright pathetic. I called the paint store because I needed some expert advice and I ended up talking to somebody who didn’t know what shellac was. Last time I make that mistake.
