Great prices! Clean store! Friendly staff! Only downfall is they get stuff I like and it only is there a short time. But the rest of the stuff I listed makes it 5 stars!
Aldi is always fun, you never know what you will find. Its a busy store and theyd benefit from having more than one cashier at times, but Ryan, who waited on is today, was the best. Quick and personable!
I love me some Aldi! Its such a pleasure shopping for groceries and getting great value (and not paying ridiculous markups at some of the large grocery chains). At this point we do 90% of our grocery shopping at Aldi. The other 10% is at one of the large chains for some of the name brands and items that Aldi doesnt carry.I love the simplicity, many of the products are better quality (often w/o the many junk ingredients used by US manufacturers) and the checkout clerks are crazy efficient. After the remodel, theres a larger selection of produce and frozen items. We buy ice cream at Aldi - its excellent, and at about half the cost of the large chains.Ive read that Aldi has had such phenomenal growth theyre starting to cut into the market share of the large chains. Id love to see those chains adopt some of Aldis practices to drive down prices that leave me with my mouth hanging open sometimes, like using the quarter system for their carts, something thats been common in Europe for a long while.
Nice place to get groceries, just hate that some of their prices have jumped up significantly in the last couple of months.
All items were in shock, check out was fast and personal was friendly.
I am pleasantly surprised and will definitely shop there again. The fruit is nice and fresh and the selection of cheeses, wines and they sell many other quality products for great prices. I think they have the freshest produce in this town. Highly recommended. Bring your own bags or grab an empty box while you shop as you have to bag your own groceries, but for the prices, I think I can handle that!
Its not fall-out shelter food anymore! Decent shopping at decent prices. Not like some others.
Aldis is a great grocery store. This store more often than not is out of things I go there for.
The fresh veggie selection was lacking. Only a few heads of broccoli left and they were small. 3 heads of cauliflower left and they all had yellow patches on them. No asparagus even though its asparagus season. No vegan selection. Only 2 checkers with a store full of people.
Our favorite place for groceries. Prices are great, selections are outstanding, produce is always top notch, and I can get out of there in 30 minutes. I also eat gluten free food and they have a nice selection of available options.
Found some really good gluten free food. Pretty cool 😎
They rearranged the store! But its all good. Still the same quality items at a low price. Just be ready to get your produce when you walk in the door.
This aldi is phenomenal. Always well stocked and super clean. I love the variety ever changing products that Aldi has with their aldi finds program. They are always super friendly and fast service! As well as having a ton of products that are such a great price. Can’t go wrong with shopping at aldi!
Always have what I need and its always the quickest choice for grocery shopping even with so many options to choose from
Its great having an Aldi in Ames! Surprising selection and great deals on the staples. Produce quality can be hit or miss but is generally good. Theyve got the cheapest milk in town I think.
Love. The prices
Decent as always... They didnt have half the stuff from the home decor section of their ad that came out yesterday... Not even a spot on the shelf for it. Hmmm
Cant beat Aldi prices!
I have always loved aldi for the prices and deals and whatnot, but this specific location I have had a problem with for the past few years. I’ve started to go less and less because it seems like half of the items I want to get are very close or are already expired on the shelf. I’ve gotten produce and bread that were already moldy but didn’t notice until I go to use them that day or a couple days later. It got old pretty quickly and thought I’d share for all who read reviews.
Nice store. Didnt have much time to shop was waiting for the bus.
Go to place for European chocolate and sweets that are usually over priced at competitors’ places
Great groceries, but didnt get the winter seasonal job. I dont hold it against them.
This store is clean, and the value is incredible. It’s always surprising to see how low your total is compared to how full your cart is. Lines can be long, but for the savings it is completely worth it.Also of note: They have a wide selection of organic and gluten free items in addition to other things.TLDR: Aldi rocks and you should go.
Love this place! Fresh produce and you cant beat the prices!
Lines to the meat area, people bottlenecked at the front door, 2 cashiers, Ames Aldi has been badly managed
Super cheap, and great culture! Love the business model.
Super affordable prices
Great prices.
Love this store! Great value on quality items. Dont expect to find name brand items here, you wont find them, thats why you save so much money!😀👍 It can seem a little different than what your used to in a supermarket, but dont let that scare you off, its a great store!!
If you are from the west coast this place only compares to grocery outlet. This place is great. Tons of variety and savings.
I found everything on my list and paid less than my normal shops at Walmart or Fareway. This was my first time I have shopped here. I definitely will be going again soon.
Cheap stuff compared to other grocery store. If cheap doesnt bother you, you could save some money
Aldi is basically the best grocery store ever and if you dont shop here you should!! Awesome produce, great organic options, and just so much more I can get for our family of 4 than I ever could before. Now our fridge is fully stocked with so much food!
I live off of it! My grocery store of choice for years
Nice store. Good location. The usual great products. The produce section seems larger than other Aldi locations Ive frequented. Dont forget your quarter for the shopping cart.
Tried to do a return for bad time lady was very rude done with Aldis in Ames Iowa
Its a wonderful place lots of kosher items for sure and its missing vegetables, fruits and so forth so hopefully Aldi will bring more choices in that area. There is no kosher cheese yet, NO Cabot cheese or milk either that i saw there. The cans and other bread, and misc are very nice
Great and cheap grocery store. No big name brands but they still have a lot of quality items. I’ve been going here for groceries ever since I came to Ames 6 years ago. Budget friendly for families and college students.Well stocked and clean most times.Make sure to bring a quarter with you so you can get a cart and be prepared to have your own boxes/bags for your groceries. They usually sell bags for cheap at the register but it’s something to consider!Staff isn’t super friendly most times but I think they just have a lot to manage usually as they switch between register and stocker within the same shifts.
Its nice place to shop at and the products price is very reasonable
Prices are great at Aldi. Products are also great! Great prices for great products is the way to go. My family, older and younger all agree. SUPPORT ALDI!!! WE WANT THEM AROUND!!!
Good prices, but inventory is very inconsistent - you never know if theyll have an item you purchased there before, and they may not have many items you need. For example, I needed teriyaki sauce - hardly an uncommon item - but they had none, nada. They werent just out of it temporarily, they dont CARRY it. Hopefully this type of situation will improve. The employees were indifferent. Youll pay to use a cart, (and get a refund when you return it - but its still a pain) and pay for any bags you use. The Ames Aldi is not in the best of locations (shares a parking lot with an auto parts store and Texas Roadhouse) and the entrance from 5th street is so steep that youll scrape the front of your car going into it if youre doing more than 2 mph.
Great deals. Great selection. But... They under estimate the popularity of items on sale and as a result they sell out of basic items like spaghetti sauce.
Will never shop there again long lines one person and he very rude ....
This place was amazing! Theyre so many things pretty much whatever you need when it comes to food at a very low price.
I find treasures here like the apple straddle loaf! Only find it there
Recently got turned on to Aldi. The food is delicious and I am saving probably $20 or more a week on groceries. This particular store is clean, easy to navigate, and has a great selection. Staff is friendly too.
Great prices!
Fast and easy
People are bad at following directions (arrows in aisles) but employees are kind and promptly open more registers.
I love this store. I always find great deals!
How can you not love Aldi! The most affordable prices on food pantry items. Go here often to shop for groceries! Especially if its time to stock up!
Aldis is my favorite grocery store. I know its going to be good quality, reasonable price. The lines may get long from time to time yet the checkers are also some of the quickest people I have ever seen.
Decent selection of affordable groceries, though I wouldnt buy the fresh vegetables. Aisles feel cramped, but that may just be from the number of people in the store. Great for impulse purchases.
I miss the old Aldi that wasnt as busy. The secret is out about how awesome this grocery store is. We mainly shop here for produce and frozen veggies. Great selection of wine and miscellaneous items.
I like the store. Fast service friend people.
Went for frozen veggies, lettuce & a few other items I was out of, of course I ended up with more than i thought. On the plus side I am sure I have plenty of food for 2, 3 maybe even 4 weeks. I will just need to pick up milk & maybe coffee creamer & more lettuce & frozen veggies.
Reminds me of European Lidl. A bit smaller, but you can find there everything you need. They have different brands than in other groceries, but from what I have tried the quality is good. Bring your own bags or use boxes that are in the store.
Great food at great prices and friendly staff
The prices are good and the produce is usually okay but I never have good experiences with the staff. They seem very disinterested, dont pay attention to shoppers trying to get around them while they stock, and while being checked out fragile items get tossed around.
Theyre always nice to me when I go in there and they know whats going on if you ask me where somethings at they know exactly where its at and they can tell you how much it is Good place in Ames
Great and affordable clerk wasnt very friendly
Nice store friendly staff
Great prices! Great customer service!
I didnt think this through and brought a laundry basket and then couldnt lift it out of the cart! I would suggest multiple bags instead😂😂😂
Great prices for good quality. not enough registers open but staff is great.
Wide selection of items good prices
Always great prices and easy to get in and out of. If youve never been to one before, bring a quarter to get a cart and bring your own bags! The staff is usually pretty speedy and friendly
A nice clean store with a good selection of products.
Great for staple items, you cant get everything here but I can stock up and save on a lot of essentials
Has almost everything I need at a good price. Sometimes theyre low on cashiers, but they make up for it in the speed that theyre able to get people through the line.
The best grocery store around for the price. Im not kidding.
Always shop here. Great prices just careful on the produce
Great store horrible customer service. Automated phone calls are a great way to drive away customers. I am left without closure, a way to get help, and I have questions unanswered. Change your business model absorb the cost of paying someone to answer phones.
Whats not to love about ALDI? You may have to bag your own groceries but totally worth it for the great prices, friendly & quick staff and good selection of food.
Those eggs are so cheap. Lots off other stuff good too! Old lady says she got eggs for 36 cents once
Always something new, great prices, great staff. Its amazing what a person can get for under $200. We shop bvb the others too b.c. there are somethings you cant always get. We will always shop with Aldi.
A worker was very helpful and kind....
Best and cheapest groceries in Ames! Got half a liter of coconut oil for 3.5 dollars!!I wish it would become more popular!
Love Aldis. Never know what new thing I will find to try or a good buy on something else. And very good fresh produce.
Good product selection and nice clean store
Cant find help locating things but otherwise great deals love produce.
Prices went up after they changed locations but still pretty good all things considered. (Ive always wondered what would happen if you tried to get more than 6 gallons of milk)
Food Market is full of FOOOOODDDD,,, wowowow,,,Almost every possible edible product is available.Fresh Fruits,Dry fruits,Vegetables, its awesome..Specially I must appreciate the polite behavior of staff. They are very cooperative and friendly. :)
Best prices in town. Good quality too. They widened the aisles but the carts are wider too so its still easy to get into a traffic jam.
Very good selection of products and especially produce. Good prices on fruit and vegetables.
Always amazing! Have a full car full of groceries! Had an amazing cashier named Ryan. Thank you Aldi!
Really appreciate their line of sustainable seafood, no MSG added, no Antibiotics products. Would like to see larger variety, but thats not Aldis scope. The prices are very competitive, especially for their organic foods.
Classic aldi. Low prices and slightly too few cashiers for the amount of people wanting to check out
New and very clean. Shelves stocked well.
Cheap way to feed multiple people in your family. Not higher because selection is limited.
Very low prices with quality groceries. Theres a wide selection too. Its worth sacking your own groceries to save a lot of money. Example: gallon of 2% milk for $2.03.
Nice store. Reasonable prices. Alot of variety.
Where theres a bag your own-smirker on every worker.
I buy my milk, eggs, and bread here. You should too.
Since the new store opened its been a good resource for cheap food if you r on a budget. Im not on a budget and I have no complaints. Always leave the quarter in the cart to pay it forward
This is a really nice a s remodeled Aldi. The store is clean and always well stocked. Several speciality products here such including a great selection of cheeses. The inclusion of nongrocery items (shoes, garden products, sheets, etc.) is a little disappointing as more variety of grocery items would be better. Easy to see from the road with enough parking but the parking lot is arranged oddly and sometimes difficult to enter and exit. Good prices and good service unless you get a cashier that throws your items in the cart. This doesnt happen most of the time.
From my experience, this store has the cheapest price on poultry and other meats. chicken thigh was 99c/lbs yesterday(suppose to be the cheapest in ames) and most product was fresh and in good quality. other product was also in great pricing.pros: good pricing for foods, good meat quality, friendly servicecons: doesnt give out plastic bags but they provides boxes. need to use 25Cents for the trolley.
I wish Ankeny Aldis was like Ames Aldis
