I highly recommend checking them out. I had a bit an accident and spilled water on the keyboard and a worker help me to bring my MacBook back to life by drying the parts inside that was in contact with the liquid.Definately saved my computer. Very friendly staff.Overall happy customer :)

We had to replace several parts on a custom built gaming computer, particularly the graphics card. They were fast in diagnosing the problem, clear in providing the various options, and helpful throughout. The graphics card we decided on ended up being on back order so they returned the computer with a loaner card until it comes in. Wonderful customer service!

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. I went to his business which is at his home and asked him to fix a part on my laptop, I only wanted an estimate and never received a call back to update me. I called back two dafter after not hearing anything from him and he told me that he had went ahead and started a repair with glue.... and he couldnt get it to work so he gave up and recommended that I just buy a new laptop... I just wanted to pick it up. When I went, the laptop display was even more broken then before I had dropped it off. I did not look at it until I got home as I was running errands and did not have time to check out his work. Obviously when I saw the damage I was upset and wanted to ask how it had happened or if the guy could fix what he had broken. When I finally called just a few hours later he immediately got defensive and started to verbally attack me. He continued to call and call and lie and degrade me over the phone. I should have called the police, but I just didnt want to interact with this man any more. For example, he yelled at me saying come over and Ill shatter your screen I have video proof of all of this.

Youll find anything they sell at significantly cheaper prices elsewhere. You should consider this business ran by scalpers, if you dont believe me check any of their online listings on either craigslist or facebook against the retail websites of the manufacturers.

Took my dinosaur of a laptop in to get it back up and running after having it off for a couple years. Brandon offered to sell us a refurbished, far newer laptop for about the same amount of money I was going to spend it get my old laptop going. After transferring all my photos and other files I have a like new quick running computer. Awesome service, would highly recommend!

CONTINUE TO 666I knew I didnt hit him and I had video proof of me not hitting him BUT him hitting me! ALL IN ALL I shouldve researched this guy on Iowa courts before I did business with him. Brandon Glenn Sayles is a very poor business man who is dishonest to people who dont know much about computers and very VIOLENT. I saved up all my money on those parts for him to be paid $150 to take my parts out and swap them with junk WITHOUT permission. All in all. I didnt get my parts back that I saved up my money for.*READ*IF YOU EVER DO BUSINESS WITH HIM TAKE PICTURES OF YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE YOU BRING IT TO HIM AND BE CAREFUL AS HE IS VIOLENT. I RECOMMEND RECORDING EVERYTHING WHEN YOU MEET WITH HIM FOR YOUR SAFETY. If I didnt record this incident I would be in jail right now for Assault. BE CAREFUL.

If you are looking for computer repair other than internal laptop issues, then ACR may be for you. However, If you are looking for someone to assess laptop motherboard issues do not even bother. While they were upfront about not wanting to do motherboard assessments (need the fans cleaned/replaced), they provided generic reasons as to why they did not want to do it (to hard to access, to many screws, cant charge enough to assess versus the risk of damaging the computer) and then suggested I try doing the repair on my own.

I would be very leery dealing with this guy! Beware! I purchased a truck from him and he won’t surrender the title and won’t be honest and give a straight answer to me! He has lied to me several times in the process! Please anybody be careful if you are even thinking about doing business with this man!

I was looking into getting a reliable Gaming PC, and stumbled upon Ames Computer Repair. They were very helpful in helping me figure out what I would need, and gave a a great deal on a refurbished one. I was very Impressed by the customer service and helpfulness. Would reccomend.

A couple years ago, I gave into kid- pressure and let my kids download free minecraft. Right. We got a free virus that made it impossible to connect to the Internet. Low on money, we went months unable to use Internet, until I found this guy, based in Ames. He fixed my computer for much less than what the Geek squad quoted me, and it has run like new ever since.Now that I need one with more capabilities for my kids schoolwork, Ive seen that he is now selling refurbished desktop computers too, and have no qualms about getting one. He does very good work, at a very reasonable rate, and quickly too. Im glad to see he is still in business and in our area because if/when I ever have computer troubles again, Im going with Ty.

I took my Toshiba notebook to another repair shop that has a good reputation among some of my friends, and the people who work there were very nice, but the diagnostic would cost $40, and I was relatively sure that any repairs would be much more expensive than the diagnostic--though the other shop did order a replacement charger for me. It turned out that theyre closed on Saturdays except by appointment, so when I saw three favorable reviews from other customers of Ames Computer Repair, I contacted the latter. (One of those reviews was written by a well respected doctor at McFarland Clinic before he moved to practice at a clinic in Arizona.) Three problems with my computer made me suspect that malware was involved: Office 2010 wouldnt open and kept posting messages saying that the the license (or ownership?) of the software couldnt be confirmed; my network icon disappeared; and my notebook no longer had access to the Internet. Long story short: TJ, the tech repair person to whom I turned over my notebook, had the computer ready later that afternoon, and he did a lot of work to make the notebook functional again. Total cost: $40--and my notebook is now working better than it has in a long time. Based on my first experience with Ames Computer Repair, I enthusiastically recommend this repair business!
