One of the best burgers Ive ever had period. The hamburger at Provisions Lot F is simply perfectly, with two thin beef patties on a simple bun. I didnt even need condiments to go with it because of how much flavor there was.It was served with some EXCELLENT baked potato pieces that were crispy and flavorful as well. It is not a large burger with many facets to it, it is a simple and confident gourmet hamburger that gets the job done. The restaurant decor is great - simple and elegant. Do expect slightly higher menu prices compared to other casual places. I will definitely be back to try more menu items and snap some pictures of the premises. Provisions Lot F is an excellent, sophisticated but relaxing restaurant.Highly recommend!
I heard great things about this place and was so excited to go. Unfortunately, the experience was sub-standard—and I’m being nice. First, the atmosphere was very nice and staff was pleasant. The orange juice and fruit was fresh and tasted great. That’s where the goodness ends. All three of our meals were not very good. The bacon was undercooked, potatoes way overcooked, toast was dry and they offered no jam. My husband’s biscuits and gravy had very little gravy. Perhaps it was just an off day or the effects of being short staffed as most businesses are these days. But, at about $25 a person for breakfast, I was hoping for a better experience.
I had brussel sprouts salad with salmon protein added, and crème brûlée for dessert. My experience with the salad was that the salmon was a little salty (my sister got the same thing and also commented on this). Overall it was an interesting mix of textures and flavors and I enjoyed it. The creme brulee, on the other hand, was fantastic. Perfect flavor, consistency, and crust. My daughter ordered the chocolate flourless cake, which she said was very rich and chocolatey and came with a lovely mango and passion fruit sorbet.
Fresh squeezed orange juice, and tasty eggs are always a treat. Always a great place to take my son when visiting ISU. The home potatoes are good, but the seasoning is a tad too much, and they seemed to be at room temperature. I enjoyed the atmosphere and everyone was enjoying their morning. Fix those small issues and you get five stars.
Wait staff was great. Food was good and the restaurant is always clean and looks great.
Little over priced, I had the hamburger. It was 2 preformed patties you could get at Sams club, a slice of I think Swiss cheese a leaf of lettuce and maybe grilled onions, nothing you couldnt get at burger king, came with seasoned fried potatoes, that for $14.95, $3.00 for iced tea. Service was good, not many items on the menu to chose from, wasnt impressed
Do you love good food? Come here! High quality food, great service, very clean and unique flavors. We LOVE this place for breakfast and weekend brunch but lunch and dinner are also amazing. Some things on the menu stay the same and some things change. Its not an extensive menu but the food is high quality and delicious. Its a unique restaurant
We visited this gem while on a college trip. The coffee and food were outstanding and the service was impeccable (polite, prompt, kind). Overall, we had a 5 star experience and we cannot wait to be back when in town!
The atmosphere was wonderful! Our service was also great, we sat at the bar. The drinks were very small for $9, the one pictured was a Spicy Heidi and it was way too spicy, but the Bloody Mary was good. Biscuits and Gravy are my go-to when at a new place but these were a little lacking in my opinion. The eggs over top were WAY too underdone with the white not all the way cooked. The waffles were again, okay. The waffle was extremely hard to cut and pretty chewy, but the caramel and bananas were yummy. Overall a great ambiance but maybe just need to try different food choices next time!
Fantastic!! Found this gem of a restaurant by chance when I googled “best breakfast in Ames”, and boy were they right! I ordered croque madame off the brunch menu and it was perfection. I’ve been dreaming about that breakfast since I left Saturday. Will be back to eat every time I visit my daughter at school!!!
By far, Provisions is one of my favorite restaurants in Ames. It is very easy for me to make that statement, as every time I have had a meal at Provisions I have been incredibly pleased. The high-quality food product and skillful preparation makes every dish I have tasted truly remarkable. This is one of those restaurants which other restauranteurs and chefs must go to, as Provisions sets the bar high. The great food is very well paired by the charmingly friendly chefs, managers, and staff.I look forward to my next meal here!
This place is truly awesome! I had the Alantic Salmon dinner and it was just the right seasoning and not over cooked. If you go I suggest the salted caramel cake for dessert. Hopefully Ill go back before I have to leave Iowa.
Great atmosphere and excellent food. We came here for breakfast. My wife is on a gluten free diet so she ordered an omelet and was very happy with it. I had the brisket hash and was really impressed. There was a lot of fresh flavor mixed with the BBQ of the brisket. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Provisions Lot F as a well kept secret in Ames! People are a little too generous with 5 stars so I usually only give 4 stars unless the experience is above and beyond. Provisions met all of my expectations of a good restaurant so to encourage excellence I only gave 4 stars. Dont let that discourage you though, Provisions Lot F is well worth a visit!
Wonderful menu, great service, save room for the desserts!
We sure miss coming here. My husband and I share an entree because i am unable to eat a meal of my own due to stomach surgery. This allows us to taste alot more things in the long run. Cant wait to come back once everything is back up and running again and try more things!!!We were able to come have brunch today finally! So yummy and of course the staff was friendly as ever.
Full disclosure; I only got a house salad but it was delicious. The staff was very friendly and the facility was very clean. Ill definitely eat here again the next time Im in the area.
During the school year, Id come here with my downloaded lectures and study with a scone and cup of coffee. Sometimes an egg. Sometimes a ham and cheese croissant. Always delicious. Took my dad here for Fathers Day and I think the shrimp and grits were probably the best thing Ive had from this restaurant. ISU classmates: this is where you take your parents when they visit (or make them take you there). Highly recommended.
Delicious food and great service! I had the breakfast sandwich which was huge and delicious! The a la carte menu makes it really easy to mix and match what you want to eat if the predefined orders are not what you want! Would definitely recommend!
I have been here at least 50 times (inside and take out), and I have never been disappointed. Always exceeds expectations! Wonderful.
We ordered beef short ribs and pan seared salmon as our main entrees. For our appetizer, we ordered Roasted Bone Marrow. I have to say, everything came out perfect! Wait time was minimal and the food tasted great! We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice sit-down restaurant in Ames, IA.
First time here and wont be the last! Wonderful breakfast, the bacon was perfect! Friendly staff, hip and stylish establishments that has an open kitchen, bar, and bakery/cafe. The music was fun to listen to, loud enough to be heard without inhibiting conversation. The bakery items looked amazing, hoping to go back and try some!
Had a great dinner at Provisions tonight! Nice bartender, great drinks and the owner was not only funny but very gracious with taking care of our meal! Thank you Provisions!!! Happy anniversary to us 🥰
My companion and I arrived about 12:30 and found the restaurant 3/4 full on a Wednesday. We were greeted and seated right away. The decor is fresh and modern with an open kitchen and lush greenery and art.We were pleasantly surprised to find a menu that offered vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. We began with the bread and spreadable cheese. The bread was fresh but the cheese was lacking. Some additional herbs, salt, or garlic would have added to the dish. We also ordered beverages. I had a glass of wine and my guest had a lemon orgeat lemonade. It was scrumptious and worth the $3.50 price tag.For entrees, I chose the grain bowl without the cheese and my guest had the steak tartine. My favorite part of my grain bowl were the pickled white onions, an unexpected tart, yet sweet bite, in an otherwise mildly spicy entree. The disappointment was the sweet potato. I understand that they don’t cook each sweet potato to order, but biting into cold sweet potato was a turnoff. I give the dish 3 stars. My companion rated their dish 5 out of 5 stars. The homemade chips we crisp and fresh, properly seasoned and not greasy. The steak was tender and properly cooked. It was flavorful and served on a thick slice of bread with blue cheese, arugula, and horseradish. The grapes were fresh, crisp, and juicy. We rounded out the meal with a turtle cheesecake and two coffees. The house coffee was good and the cheesecake was not a wow, but really good. The service was passable but not very visible. We would have liked to have had more interaction. She had little menu knowledge. Our bill before tip was $61 and change.
LOVE THE SHRIMP RANGOON PIZZA. It was absolutely divine. I also love love love the flourless chocolate cake. Wait staff is always so friendly. I wish the menu was a tad larger but I understand they want to do a few things VERY WELL- which they do. I believe some of the options are a little intimidating if you dont have an adventurous palette, however, so check their FB page for an updated menu
We stopped in for a double-date dinner on a Saturday night. It was about a 15 minute wait. We looked at some the desserts in their case while we waited. I always appreciate being able to see what I will be ordering later. ;)The restaurant is beautiful and romantic. It would be PERFECT for a date night, anniversary, or Valentines Day. Lots of soft lighting, dark accents, and comfy chairs. Our service was great. Our server took our orders in a timely manner, kept our waters filled, and struck the perfect balance between being attentive to our needs and not hovering. She was great!Bone Marrow: I absolutely loved this. I am a marrow lover, but had never had it properly at a restaurant before. I loved it, as did everyone else. I would absolutely order this again.Todays Bread: Delightful fresh bread with a yummy soft cheese spread. A good way to start a meal. Ive never seen bread like this before, which is almost chained. We loved it.Chicken Thighs: My husband loved this. The skin was crispy, the meat moist and flavorful. The star of this dish was the fried lemon slices though. They were light, tangy, and crispy. Just wonderful!Ham and Fig Pizza: We are STILL talking about this pizza. It tastes like Christmas and the holiday season, and was amazing. The crust was well cooked, and the flavors blend together so beautifully. I highly recommend this dish!Brussels Sprouts Salad with Steak: Perfect steak salad. The steak was a little gristly (but I actually like a little gristle on my meat) but was well cooked and super tender, which made it easy to slice. The dressing adds the best amount of acid, which balances with the sweet dried cranberries. If you like steak salad, you should definitely give this one a try.Chocolate Raspberry Tart: A gorgeous balance of rich, decadent chocolate with sharp, fresh raspberry in a delicious crust.Lemon Meringue Tart: Delightfully tangy and light lemon filling in a thick crust. Perfect for ending a meal on a light note.Pumpkin Cheesecake: A slice of fall wonder. Creamy and light pumpkin cheesecake, on top of a delicious crust. The cinnamon crumble topping is amazing.Salted Caramel Cake: GORGEOUS. A thick serving of chocolate ganache on top of decadent and moist cake layers. We will definitely be back soon!
I will always make the trip to Provisions. It is a beautiful restaurant with an incredible menu, nothing here ever disappoints and every dish Ive tried has been fresh, flavorful and plated like a piece of artwork. You cannot go wrong with what you order, just be sure to save room for dessert because if you think their food menu is incredible, the dessert menu will leave you wondering why you dont eat at Provisions every day.
Awesome food, drinks and atmosphere! Great date experience and energetic setting for time with friends or coworkers!
Spatial, not too sweet cakes - excellent, friendly, and inclusive.
We really like the food here. We have been coming for awhile. We suggest starting with the daily bread if you come here for dinner. The homemade pasta was fantastic. Their is a wide variety on the menu. Can’t go wrong coming here for any meal. The desserts are phenomenal. We loved the cheesecake. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good too.
Had a great breakfast there today and the service great too!
Excellent menu. We ate a wonderful brunch.
Mixed experience. Best house salad Ive ever had. Superb dessert (éclair). But the entree, a NY Strip Steak, was barely average.
I had the Quinoa burger and salad twice during my week stay in Ames. The food was good just wish the menu offered more options.
I had the combo breakfast. The bacon was a nice thick slice and cooked perfectly. The portion are extremely generous. My mimosa was beautiful and delicious 😋. The wait to get in was a little longer than a half hour (probably due to covid procedures) but it was worth it. I would definitely dine there again.
The waitress was super nice, the food was great quality, and the presentation is so satisfying! The decorations inside are gorgeous and the breakfast prices were great considering that I left very full and enjoyed every bite. 10/10 recommend. I can’t wait to enjoy the full potential and livelihood of the place once the coronavirus is gone!
My date and I had a great dinner. We started with the bread which was perfect- crusty on the outside with warm soft bread on the inside. I had the meatballs, just a tad spicy (but I dont normally do any spice so maybe it wouldnt be noticeable for someone else). My date had the grilled salmon on black broiche. No complaints from him. As a side note, their iced tea was awesome! Our server was great as well. Cant wait to go back and try other dishes.
Liked the waitlist. Menu is very limited. We had the lasagna bolognese, ahi tacos, the provision burger, and the margherita pizza with an extra order of crispy potatoes. Potatoes were perfect as well as the lasagna. The tacos were good. The pizza was bland, soggy, and utterly tasteless. Do not order. The creme brulee was perfect, the lemon blueberry cake was the best dessert on the menu, the chambord cheesecake was ok the pot de chocolate creme was ok. I think we will try once more when Rona had left. Get desserts forget the pizza, burgers, and entrees. Too expensive for what you receive. 20 for a lasagna is way overpriced.
One of our favorites in town. Always delicious!
Great food.... lovely coffee.... the blueberry cheese cake rocked.
As always, our food was wonderfully, and artfully, prepared. Service was good. I cannot sing enough praises for the Salmon on Black Brioche Sandwich. Its amazing!
Short story:Best Chicken and Waffles I’ve ever had and I’d consider myself a worldly eater.Long story:Has an amazing selection of bakery and deli items. Sourdough bread is phenomenal. Biscuits and gravy is fabulous. All of the cakes are delectable (I’ve almost worked my way through all of them). The old bay potatoes are beautifully crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I didn’t think there could be anything special about potatoes until I tried these. I love the strange and interesting beverage selection they have as well.Moved to Ames at the beginning of covid lockdown. I had my eye on Provisions for awhile. Last month I finally saw it was open for carry out and have since been FIVE times. I guess this is my love letter to Provisions Lot F.P.S. I saw some people dining in a few days ago so they might have their dining room back in action. Great indoor seating if it is open again.
Was there on a Saturday morning/brunch time. Not many menu choices and it was chilly. Had to wear my coat and we werent even by the large windows. Wasnt impressed although it was easy to make a reservation.
Cocktails were excellent, food sounded good but I didnt eat. The poor review is based on the service. I sat at the bar and had to wait at least 5 minutes for a beer or drink every time my glass was empty. I would understand if it was busy, but there was more people on staff than there were customers.
We had a very nice quiet evening that highlighted an exceptional pan-roasted salmon and a scrumptious hanger steak. We asked for the chefs recommendations and were not disappointed. The atmosphere, service, drink options and food are second to none.We will be back, and I would recommend you give it a try too, you will not be disappointed.
Visiting our daughter in Ames, this was the first place she recommended, as she has been here several times. She ordered the Butternut Squash Risotto and my wife had the Spring Primavera. They both commented their dishes were delicious. I had the NY Strip. Cooked perfectly. My sides were arugula and roasted potatoes and mushrooms. Scrumptious! Meggan was our server. She was super! Also, shout out to our bartender during our wait to be seated. You were worthy of your own tip. Thanks! Are you currently in Ames? What are you waiting for?
Excellent food, a menu that changes frequently but keeps a few standards around each time, very nice atmosphere and great desserts makes this one of the best options in town for a classier night out!
Very nice and accomodating. Great food and the service is amazing 👍😌
Thus place has amazing food I travel alot and like to try to stop at places Ive never been glad I stopped here the food is to die for excellent salads with great choices for protein chicken steak or salmon or you can choose all three plus many other amazing dishes also a full dessert counter for your pleasure
Great pancakes and great kids meals.
Delicious food, friendly service! Great spot!
Most efficient curbside that I have had during the pandemic. Curbside meals were available promptly at time specified. Food was adventurous and scrumptious.Came back for breakfast the next day. Tables are clearly marked for adequate space for diners in the counter service/cafe. Again great good. Especially recommend the chicken and waffles
Amazing food, great service, and wonderful atmosphere. Well worth the price for the quality food and experience
I went to lunch here with a few co-worker. The wait time was suppose to be 5 minutes, which was not bad considering this is a new restaurant, but we decided to sit at the bar. Service was fast and friendly. They knew some of the people in my party. Everyone I was with enjoyed there food. I had the Roasted Porchetta sandwich which is pork belly and loin with a salsa verde on a chabatta bun. It was delicious. I would go back again.
Thank God, we finally have a fine dining place within the Research Park area! Food thats served here is really delicious and I will highly recommend trying the Toast with Fish Spread (shown in the attached picture). Do keep in mind that this place is really expensive, but it shouldnt discourage you from giving it a try atleast once!
It was pretty good food was a little cold but overall good place to go
Very nice place, plenty of parking, roomy inside, room for two lanes of traffic. Darker kind of ambiance, though lots of windows let in natural light. Music was a little loud, but maybe I was under a speaker, they played a variety of music from Willie Nelson, to Billy Holliday...Theres a combo of tables/chairs and booths available, though the chairs are wicker it was pretty sturdy...For an appeitizer I ordered the house salad, which came with house made vinigrete, currants, and sunflower seeds, very tasty...I ordered the Provisions burger, with I believe spinach on top, and carmelized onions on the bottom, covered in cheese, provalone I think... The bun was nice and soft and didnt dissolve in my fingers...when I thought there was a second night issue with the patties, I asked them to replace the sandwich which they did.The fried potatoes arent my favorite, but were good, and come topped with a sprinkle of cheese on them... the iced tea was also very tasty... Overall not bad, Ill return! Also they have an onsite bakery too!My only complaint was the water came to the table in a sealed glass jar, tepid or room temperature, not good, plus not good for bacterial growth if sealed all day... no free wifi, or bike racks... thanks for reading and God Bless You.*EDIT* tried for a second visit tonight, 7/20/17, waited 45 mins for a table, no go, decided that was a good thing for John, Christine, and crew and try again maybe next week, will call ahead next time. Also maybe they could start offering free Tea or Soda or water for those long waits, maybe benches would work too for a chance to sit down? 😀
Amazing service & amazing food! Will definitely be back!
If you’re even thinking about dining here, please do. Libations were incredibly well curated, food was exceptional in presentation and taste. Service and overall atmosphere were unparalleled. Coming from someone who has worked in the service industry for over a decade, I don’t see a single aspect where the mark was missed. Very well executed!
Great scones, coffee, and service! Get there before 9:30 a.m before they sell out of their best bakery items.
We came for Brunch on 3-14-2021. One of the best meals I have ever had. The pancakes were the best I have ever had hands down!
Great for breakfast/brunch, the lunch menu had a disappointing selection. Would recommend their sister restaurant The Cafe
I was a guest for a graduation brunch. Atmosphere, evironment and service were pleasant and excellent. How did my name surface as a critic?
My friend and I were amazed by how classy Provisions Lot F is. My friend has a the avocado toast and it was huge! She said it was very filling. I had the biscuits and gravy and it was so wonderful. The portions are big so you dont have to worry about not feeling full.
The food is delicious, the staff is polite, and very nice atmosphere!
Wait was long, but worth it. Everyone in the family enjoyed their meal, and the desserts were awesome too. The potatoes were ridiculous. I could have just eaten a whole plate of them.
The food is awesome here, that is why we keep coming back. But, our last two attempts to eat here left us so frustrated that we did not stay. Loosen up on the covid restrictions! The staff seemed so fearful that it was unpleasant. We wont be back.
We have eaten at Provisions many times pre-pandemic and have loved the entire experience. During the pandemic, we have picked up breakfast a few times and the food is just as great as it would be in the restaurant. The best breakfast sandwich Ive ever had. Highly recommend the brunch during the weekends. Their chicken and waffles are hard to beat. Get it to go or stop in! Our favorite place to eat in Ames!
Amazing food, took it out to Ada Hayden Park and thoroughly enjoyed my chicken and waffles
The menu is small, but the food is fabulous, especially when youre there for brunch. Their potatoes are extra crispy and their french toast with seasonal fruit and crumble is the best french toast Ive ever had. Also, the restaurants pick-up service during this time is exceptional. Its easy to order online and pick-up, and the employee that brought my food to my car was extra cautious. Its great to see a company take care of their employees at this time and do what they can to stop the spread, so they get extra points for that!
Ordered their Provisions burger and its side of potatoes. Wow, good stuff, no condiments needed.
My all-time favorite restaurant! Amazing food, drinks, wine selection, and desserts! Great atmosphere! I come frequently and always have an amazing time!
Excellent food and service. Have never had a bad experience here.
Great food and the staff was great as well . Made for a great date night !
