I was at the Menards in Ames for the first time. I didnt know where things were at. The employees were very helpful guiding me to the proper area. The checkout person was good. Customer Service helped me get the forms and how to get the 11% rebate.

Ordered fence pickets in March but the sales staff didnt tell me they were back ordered, gave me a 2 week delivery date. Menards assured me in Aug that they called the company and the pickets were coming but then canceled the order in Oct. The general manager refused to price match on in-stock pickets to make good on the sale/delay. I was told, all sales are subject to availability of product, apparently even after the sale was completed.

Completely no people in the store tonight!! I picked up decorating outdoor lights, no lines at checkout. Very quick trip!

I was offered help within 5 minutes of entering the store. Very clean, peaceful & organized store with a huge variety of stock.I understand showing off their light fixtures, but I think having so many turned on is overkill & wasteful.Overall, this location is a great store with exceptional staff!

Best of any home improvement store in Ames. Plus they sell mustard.

Great, clean store. The product I found in the app was in stock and very easy to find, which seems like a novel idea these days, but seriously, it used to always be like that. You know, youre informed of positive stock and its actually true. Remember those days? Well, this store does, too! Im definitely going to take another look at making Menards again my go-to home supply and repair store!

Normally Im a big fan of Menards, but I sent in my last round of rebates December 1st to the exact address on their rebate form and website, and it was just returned as not deliverable as addressed, unable to forward, screwing us out of $128.54 in rebate credit. Theyre all long past the final date to mail them, and their customer service is backed up so much that their website says itll be 10 weeks before I get any response. I feel lied to and cheated. Cannot recommend shopping here anymore.

Not enough knowledgeable people. Lumber yard is understaffed and the slowest yard Ive ever been to over 3 states and 10 years of carpentry. I hate that they carry what I need. I go so far out of my way to a avoid this purgatory whenever I can.

Menard has good prices and most the items we need for our home improvement jobs. We are on our 3 whole house remodel so cost and availability is important.

We have been in many Menards across Iowa, but none compare to the Ames store. Friendly, available staff-we never had to wait for help. We will be back!!

The value cannot be beat, but dont expect much help. The 11% is awesome to use for large projects. The store is clean and organized. The employees generally dont know where items are so make sure to download the app. It will show you exactly where in the store the item is located.

Employees taunting customers for not wearing face coverings. One employee without a name tag followed me through the store then confronted me. Reality check: you can’t enforce it in Iowa anymore. 100% of my business will now go to Lowe’s which doesn’t discriminate.

This is 3 time I have tried to use the sidewalk and the snow has not be done on the public side walk. Its been 3 days since it has snowed. Will call city in Tuesday as Monday is a Holiday. Very unsafe and not far to Ames.

I prefer Menards over Home Depot and Lowes!! Very good prices and everything I could want from flooring to lighting, and everything in between!

They always have the nicest employees who are always willing to help. If the employee doesnt know the answer for your question they will find someone that does. Prefer Menards over Lowes.

I really like Menard and its becoming my go to hardware store in Ames. It maintains that small town feel like ace, while offering a huge selection like Lowes. The other big thing is that I find the staff to be more friendly and helpful here than Lowes too. Big bummer for me is the lack of DeWalt tools, but they still offer a pretty good selection.

I really appreciate how Menards cares for their customers and employees and requires masks. They have a great pick up system that allows you to avoid entering the store too. Really pleased with how theyre managing things during the pandemic.

Very large, very clean. We had a problem when the inventory was off, so I was charged for a product they did not have in stock. There was no problem getting a refund very quickly and I was on my way. All in all it was a good experiance.

Purchaded 3 pieces of drywall. When picking up in the yard, nobody was around to assist loading. Other than that, average experience.

Okay, I have to say it. I have become a fan of the store because it has everything it is well laid out the prices are excellent and I cant think of a downside other than that ridiculous check out policy. Im not sure why they adhere to the crazy line logistics, especially when youre carrying 12 foot boards or some other giant nonsense.

In Ames....clean, logically organized...I can usually find what Im looking for. The times I needed some help the floor staff was very helpful and friendly!

Love that we finally got a Menards and the size of it is huge. They are way cheaper than other places and love that you can also pick up groceries when youre out an about. The only downside is due to how new it is finding items is hard and employees dont know where it is and end up using the app

They have everything, and its all decently priced. The guy who helped us was a bit awkward.. he just kind of walked away towards the end and didnt ask if that was all we needed help with or anything. But other than that.. we love menards!

The Ames Menards is a clean well stocked store. The only issue at all is that some of the employees do not have much experience yet as this is a newer store. But they have always been helpful and resourceful at finding answers

Very nice addition to Ames Iowa. they have just about everything you need for home improvement and maybe a few others you didnt know you need. The small grocery is a nice addition at these stores as well....the only issue I have with Menards and not just this store, but the Menards policy on their 11% discount is such a pain when you have to mail it in and hope that the rebate company will process it and get it back to you. I wish someone in corporate could figure out a way to get this put online as almost every store that does discounts like this have an online way of filing. Overall its a nice new clean store making it easy to get around and find what you need.

Its a good size and they have many things, but not everything. I was looking for child locks for cabinets and I had to go to 3 different places for this very simple and universal item... strange. Anyway, I would shop at this Menards.

Super mega awesome place that you should go to buy wood, caulk, poles, wrenches, hammers, gutters, toys, groceries, schedule 40 pipes, silt socks, pro-rib steel, access panels, ladders, outlet covers, lamps, flowers, soil, river rock, river pebbles, garden edging, weed eaters, chandeliers, couches, nails, nuts, bolts, screws, hammer drills, regular drills, cheese, clothes, ovens, doors, garage doors, fridges, mattresses, paint, tape, carpet, rugs, and a whole building if you need one. (I honestly described 6% of this store in this post) ;)

This place is huge. They carry a massive variety of items for home and garden. The biggest problem and one of Menards greatest assets is the size of the store. If you forget to grab a garden item and youre in lighting its a long hike back. Make a list to save steps.

What a great huge home improvement store. Still do not understand selling mattresses at a home improvement store. I also do not like the groceries. But it is beautiful and the people are helpful when you ask them

Pretty sure I prefer Menards over Lowes or Home Depot now, Id never been to one. They have a bit of everything but food and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Think Ive dropped maybe $75 in about 3 visits starting a vegetable garden, yeah....thats nothing I know but Im a rookie working on 1 income and 5 other bills. Work in progress..

A welcome alternative to Lowes for building materials and other large home improvement projects. It feels much easier to find an employee here who can help you find what you need. Not sure how I feel about the built-in grocery store, though. Seems a bit much.

Spent way too much time here...NOBODY knew where anything was at. Ran all over, inside/outside to get my material for the job Im doing. Totally unsatisfactory.

Its a nice store and lots of employees. However what the website says is in stock isnt so our trip was wasted. The clerk looked quite a bit but still wasnt able to locate the item.

I am not expertise in hardware，so Menards will be my 1st choice because I can easily find a knowledgeable staff to help me. Plus Menard’s staffs are very friendly and patient！

They certainly have lots of things. Found a long narrow screwdriver and a laser level, and got some Easter candy to snack on, so thats nice. Store is crazy huge.

I was in a couple days before the grand opening to buy some retaining wall block. As I started loading a young man (Tre), I believe, came up and without hesitation started helping me to load a pickup full. He was very helpful and nice to talk to.

They went above and beyond to correct a delivery issue I had and it was great working with them!

Busy! Busy! Busy! This place is huge but busy! Lots of selections for any and everything! Parking lot was packed so had to circle for a bit. The entry way seemed a bit congested with people getting carts, signing up for the credit card, getting balloons, and doing returns. Love the layout and wide isles! Very knowledgeable staff!

The Ames store is set almost exactly the same as the Marshalltown store, which I go to frequently.

Excellent place to refill propane tanks price wise, until this evening. Terrible customer service. The young lady we spoke with inside to let her know we needed assistance rolled her eyes right in front of me and told me someone would be right out to help us. Needless to say, it was her. Probably won’t be doing business with Menards in Ames. Very rude and unprofessional.

Terrible customer relations. They are using the current health crisis to extort money from customers by charging a dollar apiece for a 3 cent paper mask, just for the privledge of walking in the store.

Nice, clean home improvement store. If you want help dont go in the evening. Help is scarce and unreliable. If you are confident in shopping for your project the evening is for you.

The store is large and has a wide selection of home improvement stuff. Along with mostly friendly/attentive staff, I also noticed how hard floors were. By the time I made it to the checkout, I saw the pathetic, thin strip of anti-fatigue matting for the cashiers to stand on. How disgraceful for a place that sells better cushioning options, to NOT give their employees some consideration and relative comfort. Plus, Im pretty sure theyre asked to stand at the outside of the entrance to the aisles, if theyre not busy with a customer. They could offer employees a stool, or at least better cushioning. I hope management takes notice. Treating workers better encourages them to perform better and stay longer.

Its a new store some of the employees seem to have no idea what a hammer is and some seem like they would come to your house and help you with whatever project you are doing so I am up and down about this store so far but I can say that in the next few months I forsee this place being a 5 star store

I noticed during a prior trip that they had a rental truck available. Today, I called ahead to see if the rental truck was available as I had a number of larger items that required a truck. The problem is that when I got to the rental center/customer service, I was told that the truck could not be rented because it had temp plates. I know that it is fairly new but they need to get it together.
