Bill is the best there is! I’ve been shopping with him for years, and we love visiting, even when we don’t buy anything. Not pushy at all, and one of the most genuine, down to earth human beings. He shipped me shoes all the way to my university when he didn’t have them in stock. Great staff, great products, great service. Period.

This owner is rude! He made fun of my shoes and feet! He also smelled like the classic tuna sub from subway for some reason(i used to work there and am very familiar with these sandwhiches scents. Do not come here if you dont want to be foot shamed...

Ignore any good review because all of those are from people related to people that work there and they are trying to seem like a good business. The workers completely pressure you to buy shoes, this has been my experience and DOZENS of other people’s as well. The workers are blatantly rude and are trying to all of the sudden seem like good people. If you really need shoes in Ames go literally anywhere else, you’ll probably find what you’re looking for at Shoe Carnival for better prices and more variety too. Not worth getting pressured to buy overpriced shoes anyway.

Ignore all of the bad reviews that have been posted lately. This place had 5 stars before all of these random people that have never shopped at this store started reviewing it. The management is great, and they never push people to buy things that they don’t need and/or want, they are just there to try to help you find things to fit your needs. I am not sure if all of the one stars are bots or just fake reviews, but this is a great store!

This is the only place to come for shoes in Ames! I have been a customer for six years, and I have never had a negative experience. Bill is always incredibly helpful, and he goes above and beyond to assist me with finding shoes to provide structured support for my feet. Additionally, I had no idea that heels could be so comfortable! He got me hooked on Pikolinos, and I will never go back to any other brand of dress shoes!

Please be, and do better. I thought Iowans were supposed to be kind. Pushy salesmen, will do nothing to convince a customer. Understanding that no means no can would help your business. Not So whats it going to be? are you getting the shoes or not. That Will hurt a business.

Customer service here is literally so bad. Of course you’d have no record of me, along with the other customers visiting the store, I would think that most people who have an unpleasant experience at a business choose not to purchase anything. Which would make sense why you would not have any records of all these customers with bad experiences. Your shoe store isn’t a hotel, a visit without purchase would be OFF the record. No card payment = no record. Stop dismissing people’s negative experiences to save face. It’s Literally so pathetic.

Left me with a sour experience. Never in my life have I felt like my race had a factor in my shopping experience, I don’t want to say the owner was being hostile to me for being Latino but I would not doubt it. Being aggressive is not a good sales technique, if I could put 0 stars I would.

I bought some chacos here. The salespeople were very helpful, informative and kind. I have never felt pressured in the 10 or so times that I have been in the store.

One of the employees there made me feel VERY uncomfortable. They kept commenting on my feet. They were being very aggressive towards me too. That person should be fired! No person should ever go through that when trying to purchase shoes. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable! Don’t come here!!!

The guy here is incredibly rude! i understand the need to sale for the day but he was so pushy and unnecessarily mean to me! when i expressed that i changed my mind and didn’t want to buy the pair he continued to push and even insulted me! if this is his tactic to sale then i suggest he find a new career path! such a horrible experience i left with a dent in my wallet that i couldn’t afford and feeling so insulted!

I had purchased a pair of Birkenstock’s from here and protectant for them. Was instructed to apply the protectant to the footbed of the shoe. I even clarified that the footbed was the correct place to apply and was told that it is. When I had got around to applying the protectant, I applied it as I was told and it has completely destroyed the footbed of the shoe. I tried to do some fixes found online but nothing seemed to work. I appreciated the customer service at the time of purchase, but I cannot get over the fact the owner of the store misinforming a customer resulting in a shoe being destroyed.

I was in the area about two weeks ago visiting family and decided that I needed to support local businesses in the area. Im all about working hard and being persistent but I couldnt deal with the person manning the store. Quarantine has made me weary of people to begin with but I dont think my experience here was in my head. I just wanted to browse to see if there were anything in my style. There was but it was definitely out of my budget (covid-19 lack of funds) so I asked if they had anything similar but cheaper but they acted as if I had slapped their grandparents in front of them. Cut to present day, I come on Google reviews and see that they treated other people a similar way. Its bad that they treat people like this but also nice to know Im not alone.

This store is absolutely a disgusting place ran by disgusting PREJUDICE people. Nobody should ever have to walk out of a store feeling degraded just because of the color of their skin!!! truly the worst shoe store.

The staff is horrible, and I know they just trynna make money but there’s a way to do it. Don’t make people feel like they needa buy something if they like what they see. And even if they do find something don’t insult them and don’t discourage them by telling them that they should get something more pricey, or watever y’all think they should get. Rather let them decide on their own. If you ain’t white, just be aware, you might not get the same treatment.

This place is so second rate. They are too pushy and not at all eager to help me find what I need. I wanted sandals, instead I got a pushy, rude guy trying to sell me some sandals. I would have paid more attention to the products presented to me, instead, I was distracted by his rude and obnoxious demeanor. I will be going to Payless shoe source drone now on for my sandals. El piojito will get my business as well.

We had a little mishap where we came home with the wrong size shoes for my son. After wearing them for a few days he mentioned to me that they seemed smaller than he thought they should be. We took them back to the store and without any difficulties, the store let us swap shoes that had been worn outdoors and had some grass stains already for the proper size. I’ve always appreciated Trade Home’s great customer service but they really stood out today.
