I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to get a new bike or get repair work done on their bike. The guys are super friendly and knowledgeable and they help you choose the right bike for you. My roommate and I both got bikes from there and we have been having a blast with those. I got an old Trek and it rides like new which proves they did an awesome job with the refurbishment. Also I had my old bike serviced and they did an awesome job on it and that too very quickly.

Great experience, incredibly knowledgeable staff, and always honest with you. Ive asked the staff lots of questions on multiple occasions. They dont just give you an answer, they often explain the why behind it as well. Theyre also almost always able to accept your bike and look at it on the spot. Any time Ive had issues with the bike theyve been able to correctly diagnose them and quickly repair them. Its a good place to do business.

My husband and I have been stopping into bike world frequently for disc golf supplies and always talked to Steve about the local courses. When it was time for a bicycle I knew I had to start there. I had been eyeing the Electra Townie bike series for years and when I had enough money I knew that I was going to buy one. I was able to get the last one in the shop after a quick test ride around the building. Steve helped me with picking out a helmet while the service team made sure my bike was ready for the road. He helped me install my new bike rack on my car and the service team installed my new bell and basket. They did everything with a smile and cheerful demeanor, even when we were outside in the cold installing my bike rack. The team was very knowledgeable about the sport and the bikes. I will definitely go back to them if I ever need service, parts, or another bicycle.

Seriously awesome experience here. Stopped by on a whim hoping to check out my options, and Will was so knowledgeable and helped me pick a great bike for my needs. This location sells gently used bikes too, and I was lucky enough that they had the perfect used Trek at a steal. They have an impressive selection, especially given COVID shortages. Having limited mobility in my hips, I wasn’t expecting to find the perfect step-through bike in colors I like on my first visit, but these guys set me up! :)

Steve has gone over and above a number of times over the years to get my friends recumbent back on the road and wheels turning. Come out to the truck, come out to the grass and got er done. Plus when I needed a large helmet they had it at a good price. They get you going.

Drove from Minnesota to pick up my bike and the staff was awesome. Very helpful in picking out some accessories to go with the bike and great to chat with. Would definitely recommend and if I’m ever in the area again I would love to stop in.

Staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The associate at the Ames store (blanking on the name) was very helpful talking about both the bike I wanted and some comparable options. I ended up going with the Dual Sport 3 and he helped me pick out some accessories (computer, water bottle holder, kick stand) for it as well. Great overall service and they were good about staying around my mentioned budget.

I purchased a bike on their website a d drove from St. Louis, MO to pick it up. The staff (phone and in-person) were knowledgeable and friendly. This would be my LBS if I lived anywhere near Ames, IA.

These guys are my heros. I came with my bike dilapidated, my bike crank arm fell off and the tires were resisting to pedaling, and they were able to fix it up within 30 minutes and at a good price.

Im new to biking and Bikeworld was amazing and friendly! I walked in bikeless and not knowing much besides what I researched. I found they had it available and they had me test ride the bike in addition to others. Once i decided on the bike, they were patient with me and told me pricing as we kept adding more items for my bike rack and general biking (helmet, water holder, etc). In addition to that, i was walked through how to put on my bike rack and they even allowed me to record it for me to reference when I needed to do it in the future.I used their layaway option and paid half the first visit and half my second visit.Two weeks later and I finally took the bike out and was able to get the bike rack on all by myself! Had the part I was looking for - hard to find until I got to their website. Good price and item description. Fast shipping. Ordered the part Sunday night and got it Thursday morning. Confirmation emails and shipment tracking in between. All around a good shopping experience.Update: turns out I was given the wrong part - not exactly what I ordered. Im not an experienced bike mechanic, but the job of replacing a left crank arm seemed straightforward. I ordered the correct part but was given a shoddy aftermarket replacement. I didnt understand the difference until after I had the arm on the bike. I trusted them to give me the right part and I got the wrong one. Now Ive got much larger, and probably more expensive, issues to deal with getting my bike working. Make sure if you order online from this store that you get precisely what you order.

I just wanted say how much I appreciate the service I received at Bike World. I stopped by to have them check my bike. I had just got it out of storage and wanted to see if it needed new tires and see if it would shift.They pumped up the tires, mounted the chain, took it for a test drive and said that it was fine.Jonathan, thanks for all your help.

These were for a project that needed no rush or hurry, despite that the team went above and beyond to find me what I needed all in one stop. I compared many different hardtail bicycles from a variety of manufacturers and in the end the Trek Roscoe 7 fit my riding style and budget. I did not want a 27.5 oversized tire, but Steve at Bike World Ames took the time to swap out the tires on my Roscoe with the tires on an X-Caliber, which I had just purchased a month earlier for my wife. Doing so sold me on the Roscoe. I could get four different rides for the price of two bikes!

A great experience! They have very friendly and knowledgeable people. If your bike doesnt really need new tires they will tell you that and not try to just sell you something. Thats integrity!

Steve was super helpful, and Bennett politely answered our questions and helped us know about return policy and biker short sizes before we even arrived at the store. Steve made two quick adjustments to my daughters bike, and it has made her riding so much easier and more enjoyable now. The entire staff was pleasant and busy yet took time when questions arose and we needed assistance.

I am from Buffalo NY and couldnt find a kickstands for my husbands and my new Trek bikes locally or online anywhere. On the Bike World website they had the items I wanted listed as in stock, so I placed an order for 2 Bontrager kickstands and a few other items, but unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 Virus, most of the items I ordered were sold out. Wow! They could teach a seminar on how to do customer service right. I just needed an inner tube changed and I felt stupid not knowing how to do it myself. They had the perfect way of making me feel normal and pampered and appreciated that makes me want to come back for every little and big biking need I may ever had. Seriously, Mikey was great, not sure of the name of the other guy who made me feel at home. But regardless, I will be back, and I want to complement them on their shop atmosphere. I went in to Bike World in Ames for a new helmet and with a price range in mind. Selection was pretty good, prices were reasonable for what was offered (no deep Amazon-like discounts but I was willing to pay a bit more in order to patronize my local business), and customer assistance was immediate. Unfortunately, I was directed out of my stated price range instantly without being shown their cheaper options, and when I said Id still like to shop around my price range before buying, the sales associate simply walked away from me mid-sentence. I was taken aback given that there are other bike shops in town.

Drove all the way from out of town to get a bike repaired on Sunday. Got to the store and its closed on Sundays from September till April. It would have been nice if the website stated that instead of saying it was open.

Brought my bike in to get the chain replaced and brakes fixed (most of the parts were already there, just needed to be reinstalled). They took incredibly long to fix it, and way overcharged me for cut-rate parts. I looked up the chain they used and it can be bought online for about $5, and the other parts couldnt have cost more than $15. All in all they charged me $60 for two simple repairs and took about a week and a half for something that could have been done in less than two hours.My bike didnt have handlebar tape, and it would have been nice if they had just thrown some on since I made it clear that I wasnt happy about my experience. But when I asked how much it would cost for handlebar grip they told me that their cheapest was $20, not including labor to wrap it. I ended up buying some online for $7 and wrapping it myself.Also, while in the store I heard the owner complaining about how cheap students are. Sorry dude, paying for college is more important than having a nice bike!
