Ive come here about a dozen times. Theyre always insightful, punctual, and cost efficient. They know what theyre doing and wont try to rip you off. Im not sure if its a chain shop but these locals know how to run a business that favors their customers. I highly recommend em to anybody with ANY car troubles. They dont work on just tires.

This review hurts to post.After many years of recommending En-Tire the last year has been a series of poor experiences.I have a strong feeling that they are finding it difficult to keep staff with skill or care... but this doesnt seem like the only issue now.In the last two years I have had multiple times where I have had to return the vehicle because it wasnt done right.The final straw was being lied to twice in one day.(1. Lots of GM trucks crack the front differential housing... Not true per two GM dealer service managers and two other mechanics. 2. Cabin air filter, youve been driving around without one... and then magically 20 minutes later see how dirty it was. Either you lied earlier or this filter isnt the one from my car.)Go to En-Tire now if:1. You like being presented with a bill that is nearly double the estimate (happened today to my daughter).2. You like NOT being contacted to authorize charges beyond the initial scope (happened today).3. You like spending more time returning an unfixed vehicle (happened multiple times in the last two years to my family).4. You like being lied to (see above) and risking potential damage to your vehicle.Very sad that a shop I have recommended for 15 years would fall so far.Update: 07/13/21You can now add one more reason not to go to Entire.5. When speaking over the phone doesnt work (those are maintenance items... which doubled the estimate without any approval, that happens all the time... when three other shops including the largest GM service center in the state say otherwise, if you are saying we did it... which I was not, only pointing out a coincidence that if I owned the shop would concern me), then if you post a critical review, you get a super aggressive phone call where Jeff does not listen, just argues. Not looking to improve but looking to blame. Not cool.Sad because I really dont enjoy finding a new place to trust.Lowered to 1-star because of the call today.

Friday September 3rd I found myself on the side of highway 30 East of Ames about 3 miles with a major coolant leak….needless to say I was in a pinch with another 60 miles to my destination of Grinnell where me, my wife & kids had a hotel room for the evening as we were in town to watch my niece play volleyball at the college in Grinnell. I was able to limp my vehicle back to Ames and leave it at your shop overnight in hopes that you could help me out (mind you it’s late Friday night on a holiday weekend) you went above & beyond to get us back on the road and home safe the next day, you let me pay over the phone, left my keys in the car, & all that at a more than fair price! I work at an independent tire shop myself & was super impressed with your service & price! Thank you!!

My Chevy dealer told me I needed tires. I bought tires from En-tire (got a rebate). I said there was also a rattle in the front end and I felt it wasn’t responding well. En-tire that I needed struts. The job was done and then rechecked when a rattle persisted. They got me right in to double check, fixed a minor issue and my car is riding better than it has in years. The guys were so nice and I hope I never need to take my car anywhere else.

Had 2 tires replaced here. Called around to half a dozen locations for pricing and En Tires beat everyone else... Staff was knowledgeable and to the point, but still friendly. Service was quick. Only been here the one time, but I left feeling like I WASNT ripped off and that I WAS well taken care of - which hasnt been a common experience for me. Id feel good coming back.

I usually take my car to EnTire for a variety of services and they always do great work. However, whenever I need to call to schedule an appointment, check the status of my car, etc., I always hope I dont have to deal with Jeff. He is extremely impatient and unfriendly. I am very kind when I call so Im not sure why he is always so rude. The other gentleman that answers the phone (I cant remember his name) is much more professional.

I want to highly recommend En-Tire car! Both Jeff and Tyler went above and beyond to find the cause of a very annoying, loud sound that my car was making when heading into wind. This sound had been causing annoyance for maybe 2 years. I had taken it to one other place twice without success. We wanted two tires replaced (one had a hole in it and the spare had been put on by us) and were quoted for 2 tires, they called to say it was done and the bill was double. They made the mistake of putting on 4 tires. When my husband said we just wanted 2 the owner took off the cost of the tires (after a lot of back and forth) but we still had to pay $50 for the balance and rotation. If they werent sure how many tires we wanted, a phone call would have been appreciated. We dont really have an extra $300, or $50 for that matter, sitting around. I went to pick up the car after hours and the tire that had the hole in it was thrown in the back and the spare was missing. Had to go back the next day to get our spare back. Tyler is awesome to work with, he is the one who actually took the time to apologize. The owner is super unfriendly, disrespectful (especially to women), and unfriendly. Im really glad I got to talk to Tyler because we were both really mad at this point. I stopped going here years ago because of this same owner and trying again was a mistake. If youre unsure just sit in there for 10 mins and witness how unfriendly the owner is to customers, now add any sort of a problem and its disastrous.

Our tire wouldn’t fill with air. We called several places and no one could get us in. We called En Tire and they were able to get us in right away. Tyler was able to help us out and on our way in under 5 minutes! Will be coming back here again!

I told the old man the wheels were steel and he said he could straighten them but when I got there with a magnet to prove it was steel and not aluminum he refused me service then I said well I guess I’m outta here. He then proceeded to say “your name must be dick” all because I told him that magnets don’t not stick to aluminum.

I went in for a brake fluid exchange. They got me in quick and before they tried to drain the calipers I was asked if I wanted to go ahead with it (as they were having some trouble getting the bleeder screws turned and it could possibly damage them). I decided to just stick with having the main reservoir cleared and for it they were nice enough to give me a $30 discount. Professional and courteous. I would recommend them.

I had over 100,000 miles on my factory tires that come with my car. They were mostly highway miles. I went in to talk to them about getting new tires. This was the 3rd shop I had been to and check their prices, The owner and a worker came out to my vehicle to check the depth of the tread.This was the first shop that had done that for me. He said he would be happy to sell me new tires but that I did not need them. I said maybe I would come back in the fall to get some before winter. They told me that in October there would be a $75.00 rebate on a set of 4 tires. Their honesty and helpfulness was the reason I went back to buy my tires. They also put free nitrogen refills when I need it..

These guys were awesome. I had been going to the dealership since I purchased my last car but decided to shop around when it came to tires. They beat the dealership by $150 in price *before* rebate. The staff was super friendly and gave me a ride to work when I couldnt wait. I am incredibly satisfied with their service and will definitely be going back.

This place is awesome! I called them yesterday and got a quote of $550 so I dropped my vehicle off this morning for 4 new tires, the helpful gentleman told me itd be ready around noon so I get back to ames from ankeny around 1230, pull in and theyre pulling my vehicle out! I also thought I needed an alignment and asked them to go ahead and do it but didnt need one, they couldve easily charged for it but they were 100% straight with me and that is why I WILL be doing all my tire business with en tire from now on! My total out the door ended up being less than the original quote, winning! Glad to see I could find an honest shop!

If I were you, I would stay far away from this shop.So my car broke down last Saturday and had it towed there on Monday. After I explained what had happened, they ran their tests and came out with a diagnosis that my engine has no compression and was completely ruined, thus I needed a new engine that will cost me $2000.Mind you, Im a college student who doesnt have $2000 laying around. So i called my sister-in-laws dad who is a lot more car savvy than I am and explained my car situation to him. He told me to call the shop and ask if the timing belt was broken. Well, i did just to found out that my timing belt was not broken but instead my water pump, which is part of the timing belt assembly, was brokenSo I asked him how much it would cost to fix everything and he quoted me at $700 which I thought was outrageous. Then, i asked how much they will charge me for labor if I bought the parts and this was his exact words. Im just gonna raise the labor rate, so itll still be $700 I dont know what kind of business model where its okay to rip people off because thats what En-Tire is all about. On top of it all, they charged me $93 for running their ineffective test. In essence, I paid to tell them whats wrong with my car.I started shopping around town for quotes and everyone was between $400 and $450. Needless to say, I towed my car to another shop where its currently being fixed.Incompetent and Overpriced is not a good combination for running a repair shop.Again, stay far war from this shop.

I stopped in without an appointment and asked if they could put 4 new tires on. They said it would take an hour to hour and a half. I was on my lunch break, but needed the tires so I asked if someone could take me back to work and pick me up at work to get my car once it was done. They answered yes without a second thought. Worst experience Ive ever had! Took our car to get a full alignment and left with only the front done on a REAR wheel drive car. You would think the guys there would know were focusing on the REAR since it is a REAR wheel drive car. Called and they apologized and told us to bring it in the morning and they would have it done within an hour. Brought it in the next morning (keeping in mind weve already paid) the guy that was there said we would have to leave it there for a couple hours. Told him Tyler said it would take an hour and he told us I dont care what Tyler said. Im telling you this now. Great customer service. This was AFTER 15 min waiting in the lobby for them to get done arguing in the garage. Ill deff take my time to go to Firestone. This would be the 3rd time wed have to take the car there for THEIR screen up! They also didnt take us seriously and werent going to redo it at all until my fiance had to point everything out to them that they then realized he knew what he was talking about. Maybe these men shouldnt be working in this field.

Jeff and Tyler are the best. Always treat me with respect and honesty. I have had a few cars repaired there now. Ranging from Hondas to Cadillacs. In the end, the bill is always fair.

This is where I go for all my personnel and work vehicles tires. They are extremely knowledgeable when it come to make and model of tire. I currently drive a fleet vehicle and my boss has made multi comments that Entire is cheaper price for tires then the dealerships that his other employees go to.

Always worried when going to a new place with an issue that theyre going to try and sell me something new. Had a slow leak in one of my tires, the tires are getting older, and will need to be replaced in a year, or so. That, and need to be rotated. Was afraid they would try to tell me that that the tire couldnt be plugged/patched. And try to sell me a new. They didnt mention anything other than they could fix it. They replaced an old plug, and took out a screw, and put a new one in for $20. Would definitely go back.

They didnt reverse mount my rim whole mounting my new tires and scrapped one and offered to have it pained. I paid good money for my rims and dont want paint. Would never go back or recommend. Also the owner screamed and ran away like a 2 year old.

They take advantage of college students. Daughter went in for a slow leak they damaged the rim and broke the Tire Pressure sensor module and replaced it with a standard tire valve stem which is against federal regulations.. Plus didnt even tell her !!! I found all this out when she came home from break and I took it to another tire store. Called to complain and they kept changing their story and wouldnt own up to their mistake. If you see this place keep driving.. even if all four tires are flat

Suspected a bad wheel bearing coming from the howling noise during cruising. Called another place who did tires and they impolitely told me to wait until the next day. But not En Tire, I was told they could see me right away to check if everythings alright. They diagnosed the problem instantly and said new parts would be here the next morning, super efficient.Now honesty is hard to come by, after they installed the new bearing, I was told it was defective even though the noise was gone. They could have easily sent me off and I wouldnt know. Instead, I was told to bring my car back in 2 hours to have a new, new part replaced.Ill be back for future tire/wheel jobs. It was an alright place. Work didnt take long. Employees were questionable but thats probably changed over time. Nothing extraordinary but nothing very bad either.

Not only is En-Tire usually the most affordable of all Ames shops, but they have always given me the straight and honest answers about my car, even when they could have gotten more money out of me. Also really, REALLY appreciate that they dont talk to me like Im stupid. Have had that issue with a couple other shops where I ask questions (because honestly, I DONT know much about cars) only to have some guy get short with me or give an attitude. En-Tire has always treated me well. Would (and do) recommend.

We were traveling on a Friday afternoon when our Jetta started making loud noises. It turns out the metal banding inside the tire had become dislodged. The staff at En-tire auto care worked quickly to find us a used tire to replace it and we were back on the road in less than an hour for a very small price. I would highly recommended them to anyone with car issues.

I have been taking my cars to this En-Tire Care for over 15 years . I have always received great service and quality work at an excellent price. Only once in all those years was my car not ready when they said it would be and that only because it was a major engine repair and Nissan was late in delivering the parts .Jeff is a straight shooter, if at any time he feels his service was not up to par he will adjust your bill.

Was about 15 minutes into Iowa from Minneapolis when I noticed my tire light was on (a day after getting my car serviced at my dealership) my car was also pulling to the left a lot so I freaked a little. I was driving to Lafayette, Louisiana on my own and with no second opinion to refer to I decided to get it checked out. The walmart on duff road couldnt get me in for an hour so I decided to check out the next place I saw. I walked in and explained what was going on and Im sure I seemed like a naive girl with no knowledge of cars or car problems but I said I was on a trip and a time budget so anything was appreciated. They had me taken care of in a half hour, checked and filled my tires and the guy at the front desk told me I should probably get my tires rotated but that it was not urgent and could wait til I got to Lafayette. They didnt charge me anything even though I walked in an took up their time and they definitely gave me peace of mind for the rest of my trip. Definitely recommend!!

ATTENTION Prospective Customers: Needed some tires. Bought them here. Why? I read reviews from nearly every supplier round Ames. Lets face it: You cant please everybody (Youre not a taco). The fall of man took care of that; but, this company has a manager who responds to bad reviews as well as glowing reports. An attempt is made to reconcile the negative issues. I did my tire business with the front ambassador calling himself Jeff. He set me up with what I needed. The techs put them on correctly. I drove away a customer that will more than likely return when I need more.UPDATE 11.24.2018: I DID return. While I lived in Florida I had enough DIY knowledge and access to special tools to replace my water pump in my GMC van. At other times I was able to replace my radiator and other components when necessary because; lets face it, its ALWAYS warm down there. Recently moved back to Ames and it got COLD. Started leaking coolant and thought I might need to replace the water pump or radiator again as it had been several years since itd been done. I wasnt looking forward to doing either. Took it to En-Tire with Tyler manning the front desk. Tyler was, as expected, professional and accommodating. He fit me in as soon as he could and called to tell me it turned out to be a minor hose problem and had already been completed. Now listen up: He and his staff could have created out of thin air a much more complex problem if they were the kind of garage that preyed on customers and had an eye for making money on bogus diagnoses. Tyler and En-tire charged me $25.00 for the labor. Im no longer leaking anti-freeze and I have peace O mind going into an Iowa winter. I cannot recommend En-Tire enough for ALL of your vehicle needs. Do not hesitate.

Bought a couple new tires from En-Tire, a few days later I noticed damage to the fender around the wheel well, thought about where I had been with my car in the previous few days and came to the conclusion this damage most likely occurred at their shop. After several attempts to stop in and talk to the owner I finally reached him, he of course denied having anything to do with the damage. I figured from the start they would deny being responsible, in which I think much differently, but the owner was also very rude to me when I talked to him and very short. I had also asked them to rotate my tires and they also did not do this. So just a warning before you do business here to check your car for damage when leaving the shop, it appears their mechanics can be reckless when dealing with your vehicle.

Did Unauthorized and Unnecessary Repairs. DISHONEST. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.

I wish I could give a no star review. Charged $50.00 to put air in two tires I had mounted myself and took two hours to do it. Gave bogus estimate on strut installation and called me a liar when I told him Trickles had done the exact same thing for me for free. Place is a complete rip-off.

I bought two new tires from these guys a month ago and they came with road hazard warranty. I was ran off the road and flipped multiple times on the highway, puncturing the sidewall of my tire beyond repair. I called and spoke with Jeff at En-Tire Car Care and he told me to bring them back in and they will replace them for me. I will be buying my tires here from now on.

I had the misfortune of being in the shop when Michael Browns family and lawyers were having their press conferences today and had to listen to one of the employees shout a bunch of ignorant, racist comments across the store to the other employee that was working. There are too many car places in Ames for me to subject myself to that again. Take your money elsewhere.

Terrible they put the wrong tires on my rims and I drove an hour and a half one way to pick them up just to go home empty handed then returned the next day and waited over an hour for them to even get me in 10/10 would NOT recomend to anyone.
