I am having the same problem as Michele Vetter. I paid for clay and Ive been calling, emailing and texting them ever since. I have left voicemails and I have yet to be called back. Their email address is bogus. It comes back undeliverable. This is getting frustrating. I was trying to support small businesses but if this is what I get, no wonder Amazon is the richest company in the world! At least ID GET MY FREAKING STUFF I BOUGHT!!!!! I am ready to do a stop payment on my credit card and go to Amazon. This is getting ridiculous. Yes, I AM giving it ONE STAR because I CANT GET MY CLAY!!!
So the address on Google and the website is wrong. I tried going to 2400 south 845 west which is what is on the website and was directed to Venetian tile at 825 west 2400 south. All I know is I paid for clay via their website and I have nothing to show for it nor an address to pick it up. Too confusing.Only in Salt Lake, apparently, the building number isnt the first number in the address. If you put the address in as it appears, without the zip code, it takes you to a residential address in West Valley. If you put the address in as it appears with the zip code nothing comes up but will direct you to Venetian Tile. If it is near Venetian Tile, there isnt any signage to indicate that its there. Again, I was looking for a building, for 2 hrs, that had 2400 on it on a street thats S 845 West. Nowhere to be found. I went into Venetian Tile and they were dumbfounded by the address listed but, tried to help me find it. If youre next door to Venetian Tile, do yourself a favor and let them know youre their neighbor so they can redirect people if their lost. If youre neighboring business is puzzled by the address, I would consider changing the format of your address on your website.
I have known these guys for years. They are honest, hardworking and fair. I hope they can get their storefront up and going again someday after COVID. I noticed there is a 1 star rating recently. Anyone that gives a small hardworking business a 1 star review during the height of the pandemic should be ashamed. Keep it up Capital!
So confusing how many different addresses there are and finding out what is in stock. Never answer the phone or emails. Call sunstone pottery.
Of the many times I have attempted to contact them, they have answered the phone twice, were unsure of what they carried, or if they carried an item, were more expensive than buying straight from the manufacturer and paying shipping. Most times, though, they neither answer the phone nor return calls, so I have stopped trying to go to them. Pattys Ceramics in Provo is my local go to for clay and glazes and she is also great for advice on.
Very helpful staff, and knowledgeable. I will definitely be doing business with them again..
Dave is awesome. Super responsive and he was able to get me exactly what I needed in a very timely manner. This is the second time Ive ordered almost 1000 pounds of clay from this business, and I am so grateful to have a local shop with good prices!
Thanks guys. I am a newbie and bought some stuff and then had to return a few items because I was nervous about how it would work in the kiln. They gave me a great deal and really worked with me as I start my pottery journey. Dave is great to work with and they are great.
I just stopped by and Im pleased Ive found my new favorite ceramics supplier! Thank you so much for the friendly service and advice!
It’s so nice to have a supply company so close. Very helpful and friendly customer service! They are located south of I15 on 5th East in AF. Turn right at the T in the road and continue south.
We are with the Beaux-Arts Academy, a classical art and architecture school, and have truly appreciated everyone at Capital Ceramics for helping us stock our sculpture hall. They seem to be intuitively aware of our needs as an educational institution. They have also been very helpful to me in my personal needs as a sculptor, and have more than once offered special assistance in the likes of an extra mile. I recommend them for wholeheartedly. Thank you guys.
Great place if you need to see and handle the materials. The new building is much better, more open, nice flow and lots of clay bodies (Aardvark & Laguna) and glazes. The customer service is helpful and knowledgable. If you know what you want and need you can do better (price wise) on the Internet.
Great customer service. Love the Aurora Clay for throwing😀
Started with a miscommunication but they were happy to make it up to me and accommodate me. Looking forward to getting some more ceramic supplies here.
This place is so over priced!! I have 2400 pounds of clay shipped to me from Reno or Boise and I still save about $100 in comparison to there prices (And that is being delivered to my door). Roger is awesome! But other then that I feel like they take advantage of being the only laguna distributor in Salt Lake. (Example 2000 pounds b-mix ($700 in Reno/Boise) at Capital they want $911 (that doesnt include tax..))
They are the worst business men! Completely idiotic they’re business hours online don’t match the hours they operate. Be careful you may go when it’s “open” and they won’t let you in because you didn’t order online! Alright didn’t want to give you my money anyways. Rarly answe they’re phones and are completely overpriced. Just buy online safe yourself the frustration from these terrible businessmen.
This place is amazing, they have all kinds of clays and glazes that are hard to find elsewhere.
Our family has been using this company forever, sending love from the McCleves! Great people, you guys are friendly, helpful knowlagable, we love you!
I hate to leave a bad review, but Im pretty disappointed. Yesterday I left work an hour and a half early so I could make the 50 mile drive before they closed at 6:00. I got there a little after 5:00, only to find a sign on the door saying they have new, inconsistent hours. I have been there many times before only to find out that they are out of many of the things I am wanting to buy. Its just too inconsistent, so I doubt I will be back. I hate to stop buying local and start buying online but I dont have time to keep driving to Capital Ceramics only to find that they are closed or out of things.
Love this place, a trip here always resparks my interest in making pottery. They also have a new kind of clay named ClayStone that Ive found to be really great.
They posted one price on the website and then told me it was a mistake. The actual price was much higher. Acted like it was no big deal. And told me thats what it would cost and continued to check me out without a second thought. Shady business practices!
After trying to buy clay in SLC, we gave up on Capital. Now that the company has moved to American Fork, we look forward to establishing a business relationship with them again.
Hours were updated and seem to be correct. Thanks
Awesome customer service and patience with me, who knows nothing about ceramics and still has to teach it :)
There is another Laguna distributor in Utah and they will do a much better job servicing your needs. They deliver on time, they dont advertise having what they dont and they can get anything.
Hours are not accurate. Left work early to get there before they closed and the sign was already closed at 3pm. Will not be coming back
We drove down from slc to go to the address listed they were closed it seems there online only
Great place to access pottery supplies.
The clay and tools seemed to be priced higher than they used to be. Cost doesnt compare to other local ceramics dealers.
Everyone was helpful with my ceramic questions.
For 65 years Capital Ceramics has been the source for clay, pottery tools, glazes, slip, kilns, potters wheels and more!
Great customer service!
