Unfortunately I cannot share anything about the exhibitions, as there were none when I came to visit. But I did enter the building anyway and I am glad I did, it is magnificent! There is a bar/cafe in the building to get a refreshment. Also a book store available similar to the one in SALT Beyoglu, but way smaller.
Great experiences in the end high profile Gourmet Restaurant
Didn’t quite catch the idea of this place, despite the architectural beauty. There were almost no exhibitions, not that much to look at. The staff was not friendly at all and for some reason it was prohibited to take photos on film camera (but it was allowed to make photos on mobile phone 🙄). In general I didn’t enjoy the visit, unfriendly atmosphere isn’t something you would expect being a tourist in a museum.
Not a museum, just a nice building. Architecture looks great. Coffee inside was terrible:(
Awful. Wanted to work there, but guards who don’t speak English showed the peace of paper that we couldn’t come inside without vaccine. It’s totally illegal and violating human rights. We have negative covid tests but they just don’t care.
Amazing coffee and library, although when. I went in July 2021 the library was exclusive for researcher which it wasnt a year ago. Nevertheless, it worth a visit, theres book store, coffee, restaurant and the designs is another level there
I think it’s one of the wonderful places I’ve discovered, it contains an amazing library with different spaces for studying, research center, the have rare books also you can find, museum, auditorium, cafe and many other stuff, it worth a visit at least and it’s an amazing place to explore your soul or study. It would be my favorite place while studying in TurkeyIt’s all free by the way
Really beautiful building from the Ottoman times. There is a library, study space, museum, cafe and restaurant, as well as a bookstore. Unfortunately due to COVID, most of these are closed or in limited facility. The library needs to be booked ahead in advance at this stage.Still the cafe is really spacious and chic and the bookstore is worth a little explore. Note, most of the books are in Turkish. When I was there, there was only a discount section with English books. This place is also really popular with university kids. Its worth the visit, and is close to Kamondo stairs. So if you are already there, why not stop for coffee here?
Worst place: you need vaccin to get in. Discrimination
Historic building with library and a coffee shop. Also sometimes performing arts rehearsal can be perform anywhere inside the building which is nice If you dont need complete silence to focus in the library. By the way mostly crowded and you can barely find a seat in the library.
Even though studying area is closed. Still you can visit and cafe is also open
Every exhibition has a very inspiring theme and hosts great modern artists. The architecture of the building brings me to a hellenistic time when the oldest philosophical aspects are being criticised. And by addition of the view you can see the most beautiful mosques in Istanbul, the amazing picture completes itself.I really like here, and confirmed the taste of vegan cookies :)I am looking forward to seeing the library opened after pandemic.
Everything closed, but they are not bothering themself to say about this in advance. Only bookstore open and the coffeeshop which was the worst I’ve been in Istanbul. I wouldn’t review this place of course since it’s closed, but the terrible coffeeshop made me do this
Im not sure what this place is. I thought it was an art gallery but theres barely any art here. Seemed more like a library than an art gallery. Ive seen a few people with laptops and studying. Its kind of cool inside. There were two movies playing in the basement. I think the coolest part of this place is the bathroom sink. There is also a cafe in this building on the ground floor that offers a great view of Istanbul. Its a great place to take pictures. Its free to enter, so it could be worth coming here if you are in the area. But if you have better things to do, skip it.
Everything was closed and ribboned off when I visited around lunchtime on a weekday...
Clean and very modern. Loved the architecture, finishes, and fixtures. And its free!
Beautiful space to spend a day studying! Get here early to get a seat. Only downsides are that the cafe staff could have been more friendly (but they’re only human) and there is a tendency for people to leave their stuff and disappear on long breaks.
In this amazing historical building one of the best thing is to do your work at the library part peacefully.
This is a very beautiful and interesting historical building, and in its basement there is a museum for the first banknotes printing press of the Ottoman Empire
Seemed really nice but Museum was closed.
Salt is the place for those interested in a calm place for working or studying. It is a historical building turned into public library, cafe and offices. It also has a nice terrace for not so cold days.
It’s very beautiful place to study without noise. And you can focus.
I love SALT Galata. Theres always something interesting going on at SALT, so be sure to check the event calendar for the latest goings-on. If youre a first-time visitor, be sure to check out the Ottoman Bank Museum on the lower level. The SALT Galata library is a quiet and its good place to work or study.
It has a very good place for research and studying.
Great place to hang out. Cafe, bookstore, library, bar, and art gallery in a former bank. Great atmosphere, great library selections, seating, and lighting.Free high speed WiFi throughout.
It is a fantastic space, modern art, a library with cutting edge books, and a cafe on an old bank building. Ingenious!
This used to be a bank but it has been converted into a library, coworking and exhibition space. Worth a visit for its architecture and views of the city. Its free admission.
Amazing and lovely place for relaxing after hard day 👍❤️
Very nice views, beautiful building. Lots of study spaces with a nice cafe too. Wifi available but needs local phone number which your password will be sent to.
Very interesting and unorthodox gallery. Also, in the banks historical section, there are records dating back for 100s of years. As an Armenian, it was very gratifying for me to view many Armenian names in the old records.
Great place for literature search and studying. Also have great cafe with good view.
Theres a cool modern cafe and bookshop inside. Worth entering to look around. Go through the revolving doors and a quick security screening.
Amazing art venue, nestled in a historical building. Great atmosphere and context. Beautiful views also.
Be prepared to encounter the laziest and most pretentious librarians of your life. The library is also a classic case of hipsters bagging seats and then disappearing for a coffee or smoke. So the library is full of empty seats but nowhere to sit, and full of amazing books but no assistance in finding what you want. The architecture is gorgeous though, and the view over Haliç will make you hate the haut hipsterness of it a little less.
The Galata Tower — called Christea Turris by the Genoese — is a medieval stone tower in the Galata/Karaköy quarter of Istanbul, Turkey, just to the north of the Golden Horns junction with the Bosphorus.
A simply brilliant building with great facilities. This building was built by a Levantine architect, Alexander Vallaury, to house the Imperial Ottoman Bank. It now houses a library and has fantastic views of the Bosphorus. It’s a place that every researcher on Turkey and the late Ottoman Empire ought to visit. The museum, prepared by Edhem Eldem, which presents the history of the Ottoman Bank, is also fascinating. There are frequently very interesting events here that can be followed online
Excellent collection of books. An oasis in the. City.
Nice venue with something for everybody: a nice informal cafe, and an excellent inventive restaurant above, a good little bookshop which stocks Time Out and art books, a public library to put up your feet for a while, a banking museum in the basement. Oh yes and an art gallery.
Beautifully done library/cafe/bookstore/. Great for getting work done that also offers picturesque views of the Sultanahmet side of Istanbul
This place is good, until the staff dicriminating certain people to access the museum. They should train the staff better.
Neat place, great for study with nice cafe, restaurant and good Wi-Fi connection.Id strongly recommend it...
Salt is a good place to be. Study. Eat. Coffee. Library. Everything is together.
Its a very nice place to work/study with free wifi and a café/restaurant.1. The seats are limited. If you want a good place you have to come early in the morning.2. It gets very crowded after in the afternoon.3. Its closed on Mondays.4. The tea (chai) served in the café is horrible. I dont know why.5. The toilets are nicely designed and very clean. Its just a bit dark.
Very peaceful place to have a coffee & cake and relax for a bit. There is an art gallery (-1 floor), a library and a coffee shop (2nd floor), and a really good but pricy restaurant called Neolokal with lovely views of the city (3rd floor). There is a reception but they do not speak English. They have wifi but you need a Turkish telephone number to get a code by sms to be able to connect, which is a bit silly. Students come to study here. Access: To get in you need to climb the first set of stairs from the street, and only then there is an elevator, but I am not sure how people with limited movement can get up there.
Wonderful calm place has interesting books.
Wide range books come together in Salt Library. Continuous workshops that may vary in time. Permanent museum of Ottoman Bank including treasury circles underground.
Nice place, friendly staff. Love the sense of history in the place
Great place to think and inspire even building itself is effectual.
A great place to explore, read, learn, eat, drink a coffee and shop for books.
Beautiful space to rest - it houses a library, cafe, and a small exhibition space
To learn something here is very helpful place.
LOVE THIS ART SPACE
High then your dreams
Amazing place
Great venue
Smells like history
Good
An art space in a converted bank
Inside there is a library cafe and some exhibits. The building of the old Ottoman Bank is in use. The bank vault is still in the library. The building looks great inside and out. A place to go to study. The exhibitions are also very good Volkan Aslans Stay With Your Health was excellent. Go see it for sure.
Located on Bankalar Caddesi, Salt Galata was designed by the architect Alexandre Vallauri for Bank-ı Osmanî-i Şahane and opened for use in 1892. Today, it offers many opportunities to visitors and researchers. The sullenness and indifference of the employees who only take orders and serve in the cafe attracts our attention every time we go!
Nice place. While you are free to take photos with your mobile phone, the security frowns when you see the camera and they say it is forbidden to take photos. It is not clear whether it is an art gallery, a mini-library or a study hall. While teenage friends are solving questions in one part of the interior, you may come across an art exhibition in another part. Those who like such hybrid environments can go. The architecture of every building around Karaköy Galata is beautiful. Art and architecture lovers can go.
SALT is a contemporary Turkish art institution. Started by Vasif Korton and Garanti Bank in 2011. Within the building are spaces for exhibitions, workshops, quiet spaces for reading, and gorgeous views to refresh everyone who wants to take a break from life and the Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Center. Why should you visit it?If you want to lose yourself in a library, and enjoy stunning views and delicious food, SALT Galata is probably your new favorite place in town! One of the visitors says about this building that it is a very beautiful and interesting historical building, and in the basement there is a museum for the first banknote printing of the Ottoman Empire. A wonderful place with a variety of books in many languages from different centuries. You can read there or buy books. They also have a small cafe inside.Location?SALT Galata- Bankalar Cad. No: 11 Karaköy- IstanbulWhy you should visit itIf you enjoy feeding your mind with creative exhibitions, losing yourself in libraries, admiring spectacular views and relishing delicious food, chances are SALT Galata will turn out to be your favorite spot in the city!
Tasarımını çok beğendiğim bir müze aynı zamanda içeride derste çalışılabiliyor.
Karaköy Bankalar Caddesi is one of my favorite places in Istanbul since the past. The most spectacular building on this street, once used as the Ottoman Bank building, is a must-visit place. Especially the museum downstairs is very advanced in terms of money. At the same time, one face of the building was built in Alafranga style and the other side was built in Alaturka style ... Add it to your list of places to see ...
It serves in a unique building built in 1892 with its neo-classical and orientalist architecture in Karaköy Bankalar Caddesi. Eastern Europe, you can find works belonging to Turkey and the Mediterranean basin. It also hosts a museum and various exhibitions. The library building was built as an Ottoman Bank and used as a bank for many years. At the entrance of the building, readers Everything you receive from friends is out of fate. But what you have given will always be your wealth. Entries are both free and require no registration. It is a historical place that you can even go in and out to take photos. In the middle of the hall, there is a structure in the form of a bank vault. Historical documents are exhibited in the safe.Salt Galata is actually a sub-branch of Salt Research. Salt Araştırma offers a service where you can access the digital version of more than 1.700.000 works free of charge from its website. The third floor of this place, which has been recently restored and has recently become very popular, is arranged as an archive. We think that one of the reasons why the place is preferred is that the decor can be changed as you wish. You can move your table and seat in any direction you want :)
This is a place that is divided into two as those who come to study and those who come to take pictures 🤭 I came separately for both. You have to come very early to study, be there at the opening time or you wont find a place because it doesnt have a very large volume anyway. Its also a nice place to take pictures 🤍
Its a beautiful architectural space. It also houses an exhibition, bookstore and cafe.
Unfortunately, most of the places are closed because of the virus, you cannot navigate as you wish. A nice place is recommended even if there is limited opportunity for sightseeing
It was a very aesthetic place and had a very pleasant ambiance, but some parts were closed so we couldnt visit those parts :/
Drogo. Niesmacznie
It is a historical place where you can capture beautiful photo frames. Most of its areas are closed due to the pandemic.
