I hate to sound negative but I am completely unsatisfied with how they handled my car. I dropped it off yesterday and told them I most likely wouldn’t be back before they closed. They told me they would call me before that so they could let me know what they find out with my heating system and let me know where they would leave my keys. If not, it would just be in my car. I go to pick it up later that night and my car is completely unlocked in this dark empty parking lot and my keys are nowhere to be found. It’s really frustrating that this happened so I ended up leaving my car. The next day I call them to let them know I would like to pick up my car and why wasn’t I called about what they did with it. They said they would call me back when they found out more. Hours pass and I have to call them again. Each time they needed a couple minutes to find out what is happening with my car. Turns out nothing was done with it but I can pick it up tonight. I spent almost $300 the first time and had to be back not even a week later for the same problem. I would not go back and I’m really upset with the lack of communication and unprofessionalism.

They take great care of customers and make sure to do it in a timely manner and if they can’t do it let you know and give recommendations of where to go

Carx got me in right away, they also had the oil change done on a timely manner. They where very polite and very helpful specially Chad, . I would recommend them.I can’t say enough about how great they all were .

The staff at Car-X was beyond wonderful. We were traveling to Des Moines for a wedding and our car started making a funny noise. They got us in right away, checked everything out and reassured us that we were safe and that it was just a nuisance noise to take care of later. There was no pushing of sales or false claims of repairs. I would highly recommend this company!

This place definitely exceeded my expectations. Anytime I get work done to a vehicle im always anxious. The manager here made it a very pleasant experience. He listened to me explain what I thought was going on with my vehicle and they got to work on it right away. Within 15 minutes they had found the problem and said they could fix it that day. They installed a new part and test drove it. Upon test driving they found out that the part wasnt working correctly and they picked up a new part and installed it the same day. The price was even outstanding. The people were beyond friendly and the atmosphere was so relaxed. Will definitely continue to bring my car here.

They provided excellent service! We broke down on our vacation they had us all fixed up in 2 hours. They were so friendly! They helped entertain our 4 young kids while we waited. The lobby was clean, toys for kids to play with and snacks.

This was my first time. This will be my go to mechanic. Cost was reasonable. Showed.up early did a 3 hr job in less than 3. Staff is knowledgeable and up front and honest. Cant say enough about this placeCame back had my front brakes done. Awesome service. Done in a couple hrs.Chad and Bob. Awesome with assisting with finance issues. So patient.

Always have a great experience here. I moved to altoona about 5 years ago and luckily found them as my new car home. Every manager thats been there has always been awesome. The prior manager there honored a deal on tires for me bc he knew I would rather go to carx than the competition.Jeff the manager now is great, super friendly, and honest. He and the employees there always do a great job on informing what potentially will need done and makes suggestions on what to repair first. My girlfriend started using this place, and had good luck doing a pretty extensive repair. She was treated really well, so I figured I could just go for oil changes. They have always been helpful with letting people know what they are recommending, and why. Even showing my girlfriend the issue as to why they need to fix something. I really like how theyre open on Saturdays. Theyve always been able to squeeze us in even though they are very busy!

Dropped my truck off 2 hours before my appointment was scheduled and came back 45 minutes after I told the guy I needed it ready by for a simple oil change and didn’t get it done. Just flat out skipped my vehicle. Not like it was a difficult task just a 5-10 minute oil change. Just started a job down the street was looking to use this shop full time for the convenience and this was my first time using carx. Easy to say it will be my last. Don’t waste your time.

Needed an oil change pretty bad, tried to change it at home but had oil filter removal problems, called and they got me right in Witch was super convenient since I live in Omaha now but was visiting Altoona. Have came here in the past for prior vehicles. Very welcoming from the initial check in all through out the service. Very knowledgeable and not pushy. I am a traveling hospice nurse and got a flat tire while working. They were able to get me in ASAP and very professional, courteous and back on the road in less than an hour. They truly helped me when other places said it would be a 2 hour wait. Highly recommend!

I was traveling threw when I had some car trou les.they where able to give me a tow company to use, offered my a ride to rental car if I needed, but they where able to gete in and major repairs to my car so I could get back on road and home!!Very friendly and helpful staff, great waiting area.Also PET FRIENDLY!! HUGE plus since I had a pet dog with .e.Tha k you guys for getting work done so quick and getting us sadly on road!!

I come from a busy city and it is hard to find trustworthy, honest, and quality attention from a mechanic from were I come from. The customer service is phenomenal Jeff was really helpful and attentive and ready with any answer. I could definitely say that my time was well spent with everyone at this office. I could not emphasize enough how happy I am with their service, help, and how my truck was left after their care. If you are having second thoughts of taking your car here, do not because it is worth every second and penny of your time.

This is for the CarX in Altoona, Iowa. In the last few weeks I have had to get a couple of repairs done on my vehicles. The first was my truck where all indications was it had a bad battery. Decided to try CarX since they were close and easier to get to then my regular shop. Not only did they replace the battery but checked out the system and found the alternator was also bad. They did all the work on time and the truck has been working great since. The second was a tire with a slow leak. Took it to another shop, Car X looked very busy, who told me the tire was not repairable. Luckily they did not sell the brand of tire I wanted. After calling around I found the CarX in Altoona did so I took the tire there. I told them what the other shop said and to go ahead and put a new tire on. Before they did they checked the tire and found they could fix it so they repaired it instead of selling me a new tire. They could have easily also said it was not repairable and just sold me a new tire.Not only does the CarX in Altoona do high quality work with friendly people but they also care that you only pay for what you really need. I would highly recommend the Car X in Altoona.

Came in for a check engine light diagnostic was fast efficient and spot on. Plugged catalytic converter. Fixed the engine hesitation that Hundai said was normal. Put on a set of new tires, alignment and she drives great. Thanks to everyone there for the good work.

Very helpful staff. My air conditioner was leaking inside my car and I needed to get in a shop on a very short notice. They were able to take me in within the same hour or so!! The solution was a very simple fix, blowing some air into a compartment. They didnt even charge me. Jeff was VERY welcoming as he noticed I was a first time customer and greeted me with a warm welcome. 1000/10 recommend.

Jeff & his team make car services a breeze! It is a very welcoming atmosphere, which is important to me as I feel some auto shops can be intimidating to someone who has very little experience with them. The team goes the extra mile in explaining why something is wrong and how it will be fixed in a way that everyone can understand. I came in for tire work on my work truck. They some how squeezed me in but I have to admit while sitting in lobby waiting I watched the staff work with intense / hostile costumers trying to go the extra mile for them. I am VERY impressed by this business but also more impressed how well they handled rude / hostile customers. I’ve worked my fair share in customers service and they exceeded my expectations. They will always have my business and I loved the time I spent in the lobby with the staff at front desk! The male and female (don’t remember names) at the desk made my time spent there enjoyable, positive. Thank you for you’re hard work it has not gone unnoticed!!

I had a great experience at Car-X today! Went in for an oil change, I ended up needed my tires rotated and Keith was kind enough to offer that service free of charge. Quick and efficient!

I took my car on last Saturday, March 13th for my service stabilitrac light, service traction control light, and service traction control lights and they looked at it on Monday. They told me it was wheel bearing and caliper pen. I paid almost $600 dollars and my car is doing the same thing and now can’t get it fixed for 2 more days!

This review is for the shop in Altoona, IA. I had a 9:00 AM scheduled appointment for an oil change. The shop was extremely busy but I was in and out in about an hour. Both gentlemen working the desk were very, friendly, efficient and professional. They both receive an A grade for their multi-tasking skills! I have been taking my vehicles to this shop for 5 years now and I highly recommend them for your cars care.

We had a wonderful experience here today!! Jeff, Seth, and Dan were so knowledgable and kind. Dan was so friendly as he explained my cars extensive issues. Jeff and Seth both helped me check in and think about my options. I had a rough set of decisions to make today, and the guys here helped us so much! The snacks, drinks, wifi, and comfy waiting area were pretty sweet, too!

I am a hospice nurse and we had a flat tire, needed to get going so we could finish seeing patients. They worked us in quick and got us back on the road extremely fast, despite being busy! I think it was Chad and Craig (sorry if I have that wrong) you guys were awesome!!

Jeff and crew were really on top of their game. He welcomed me and got me in for an oil change quickly. Had fresh coffee brewed and ready. Comfy chairs to sit in and college football on the TV. Only thing to make the event more enjoyable would be a messaging chair. 😆

I put cool new aluminum stem caps on my new tires last winter. Last Saturday my Check Tire Pressure light came on. When I tried to put air in I couldnt get the caps off. Turns out they can weld themselves to the stem. My tire shop sent me to CarX to have the stems cut off and replaced. They got me in as soon as possible and got my Jeep back on the road. They even put on new plastic caps. Lesson learned.

Went to Car-X Altoona for an oil change; Chad and Keith took care of my car. I was in and out in less than an hour, but couldve stayed longer. Good folks work here, youll be looked after.

Horrible service and my car came out with problems it didnt have before

I took my car into car x for a quote and was quoted 1,376 for a hub assembly! I am not a mechanic so I was not 100% sure If that was a rip off but I thought it was! I got referred to another place to get my car fixed by a friend and it was 3 times cheaper and the work was great!! I’m glad I looked else where! Car x is a rip off!! I gave them 2 stars because they did get the car in right away and only had it for a few hours before giving me a quote! I also had an issue about 1 year ago with an oil change that I had to take back in twice because it kept leaking after they changed it!

Edit: It seems the person on the phone told us the wrong info and they never went into the dashboard, so theres a miscommunication on their part. Im giving this 3 stars because although this was a huge hassle for us and were still down over $2000, they did offer to partially refund us $350. The person over the phone was determined to make it right with us which I thought was good.We took our car in the first time and they charged us $2600 to fix our air conditioning, which is already expensive enough. They claimed they did a thorough leak check, found a leak, found that the compressor was bad, found that the freon was low, fixed all of that supposedly. Then the AC stopped working not even a week after they got done with it. We took it in a 2nd time, they said the compressor was bad that they put in, luckily it was under warranty. They replaced the compressor, but then the AC still didnt work after about a week or so. We took it back in a 3rd time, they said they thoroughly checked for a leak and couldnt find anything, even though the freon was low again, so clearly there was a leak, told us to take it back in later and maybe the dye would show something else. The AC was good for a while but again stopped working not too long after they supposedly fixed it, then they finally found the leak they should have found a long time ago, said they would have to get into the dashboard, it would be labor intensive. I remember they had already taken apart the dashboard before because my wife had asked if she could come and get the car, and they had said the dashboard was taken apart so she couldnt get the car back yet. They denied that ever happened, said they never took apart the dashboard before. They wanted an additional $2000 to fix a leak they failed to catch the first time, and when I said that would not work for me, they offered to lower it to $1400. So the grand total they were still asking for was around $4000 when they failed to find all the leaks, and they put in a bad compressor the first time. I also reviewed the papers from the first time they did the repair and they didnt even mention in the papers about fixing a leak, so it doesnt even look like they properly documented everything they did. Now we have to make payments every month on the repairs that were pointless to be made since we still dont have working AC. We are down $2600 and making payments, the issue wasnt even fixed, and we wasted our time with at least 4 trips to that place. The guy we talked to about this, Jeff, was also getting angry and defensive and it didnt seem like he was very professional or valued our customer service. I am telling my family, friends, and coworkers about this and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This location is awesome! On our way back to NM from WI, our tire got a slow leak, still about 15 minutes from town about getting my vehicle in for a tire repair. Jeff Fit us in and got us back on the road in no time. Everyone at the shop was super friendly and they did a great job. I would highly recommend this place.

Did work on my car but I dont feel like they told me the truth.

Chad and Steve helped me out by fixing my window problem. The motor stopped working on the driver side window and my window refused to go back up. It was 20 something degrees that day and I had my kids in the back seat so I had no choice but to get it fixed asap. They squeezed me in and fixed my window issue. The place was packed so it did take 3 hours but they offered my kids free beverages and chips which was nice. My services was kinda expensive mainly cause of the labor but it is what it is.

It seems like a small thing, but I pulled up and Keith aired up my tires without asking for anything or trying to sell me on anything. I really appreciated it.

I came in frazzled and without an appointment. They were super kind and were quickly able to find the problem with my car and had it fixed within the hour.

They replaced my muffler and elbow between the muffler and manifold. They did an excellent job, timely,with the correct parts,and within the estimate provided. Id recommend this Carex to all my friends.

I had radiator replacement and additional work done in January on my 1994 vehicle. The price seemed high. After I raised it to his attention, the manager explained that he checked out 3 other competitors and found they were within range. I was impressed by the results he revealed to me with known area shops. He further wanted to make it right by offering me a set of free oil changes. I am happy with the work and the with the manner in which my concern was handled.

When I first entered Altoona CarX Keith and chad were very welcoming and very helpful. I recommend anyone to come for help with their auto repair also good deals!

They were very friendly and didnt take longer than expected to put winter tires on my car but all four tires were a few lbs below recommended settings per both my cars computer and my tire pressure gauge. For this, Im deducting a star from the review.

I came in mid December to have my car looked at because of a noise coming from my front left tire. Turns out my control arms needed replaced. Now that was a bit stressful but the staff made it super easy for me to figure out how to pay and gave me tremendous service and got my car fixed in a very timely manner. Its been about a month and my car runs super smooth. I highly recommend this shop and plan to do all my repairs and services here.

I took my pick up in for an oil change and to fix a rattling noise on my exhaust system. The maintenance team was more than helpful and Chad went the extra mile to fix the problem.

Mistakes happen in life and when they do, it is how people accept responsibility and fix them.Thank you Car X for being a responsible business.They hit both driver and passenger doors into their lift which chipped the paint on both doors of my truck. Significant damage with paint transfer from their lift.
