Unresponsive to legitimate complaint about unscrupulous or erroneous auction practice: In an online auction, I had the winning bid for several seconds. Then, within 0.06 seconds, the auctioneer accepted another bid and closed the lot without any warning. My phone calls and emails, including while the auction was still underway, went unanswered until days later when I threatened to complain. Then they confirmed these facts but refused to make amends because the auction was over. Lost a lot I cared about and would have bid more to win, just because the auctioneer swiped it from me with literally no opportunity to continue bidding. Bidders beware.

Wow, these guys are real life super heroes! We bought a house, and the former owner left EVERYTHING behind. In just two days, the Hughes team sorted through the good, the bad, and the ugly. They coordinated multiple pick ups of recyclables, donations, and hauled off TWO 40 yard dumpster of trash. They deducted what they could resell from the clean out fee. For a little bit of money, they provided an invaluable service for us with such professionalism and speed. Thank you Taylor and the Hughes team!!

Not as good as downtown location in terms of size and selection. Prices somehow much higher. However, things change every month. Maybe next time.

We owned a rare 1929 Hudson Town Sedan -- one of only a dozen remaining examples in the US of this custom-built version of the Hudson Super Six, with a body by Briggs Manufacturing Co., the largest independent auto body maker in the 1920s. We reached out to Hughes to discuss sale of the Hudson, since we were no longer able to maintain it. We were contacted by Sam Alam, their vehicle specialist. He advised us to invest a considerable amount in some necessary repair work and detailing so that we could advertise the car as fully functional and so it would present well.Hughes priced the car at auction at a value considerably higher than we had expected to receive. It didnt sell at auction, but that didnt end the process. Sam continued to market the vehicle through specialty internet sites, and within several months found a buyer who was willing to pay a price within the range Hughes had estimated for sale at auction. The buyer is a wealthy used car collector affiliated with a museum in Germany, and that is where the Hudson is now headed. Even though Hughes happens to be located only a few miles from where we live, they clearly have an international market reach.Throughout the process, Sam Alam was professional, courteous, and meticulous in his arrangements. He handled all the paperwork for the title transfer, marketed the vehicle based on vehicle history and information I had provided, arranged for all the repair work and detailing to be done, arranged for shipping of the vehicle and separate freight shipment of spare parts, including a spare engine and transmission, arranged for insurance coverage, etc. He really made the entire process painless for us. We are very pleased with his support at every step of the journey, and most certainly with his efforts that resulted in our obtaining an excellent sale price.Highly recommended, particularly with respect to vehicle sales.Update December 2019:Based on the terrific results we got in selling our 1929 Hudson through Hughes, we also asked them to find a good deal for us on the sale of a 20007 Toyota FJ Cruiser. Even though the vehicle had been modified with an expensive after-market front bumper, as well as an advanced stereo system, backup camera and blind-spot warning system, we were offered less than Blue Book prices from CarMax and from a Toyota dealer ($9500 and $8700, respectively.)Sameen Alam, the vehicle specialist at Hughes, did his magic act again, and came up with a seller who paid over $16,000 for the vehicle. This guy is great! Not only did Sam deliver a great sales outcome to us, he also personally delivered the vehicle to the new owner in Marin County, north of San Francisco. This shows what great service he provides to both buyer and seller.HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended!

As an estate liquidator, who visits other cities on business and vacation, I visited this sale and this estate sale company is superb. Their advertising and marketing, photography, facilities, and pricing were very impressive. I will recommend Hughes Estate Sales to anyone who needs a professional estate sale company in Los Angeles.

Buyers beware! This place is a confirmed scam establishment. Completely unethical in their business practice and devoid of any moral sense and decorum in their (mis)treatment of customers. The owner and his staff have no qualms with selling stolen property in their sales. They hold online auctions, seek payment from bidders but then withhold the bidder’s property and sell the items again locally at their estate sales. They did this to me and my dear friend. We only found out about this upon trying to pick up our property. They will avoid and ignore the paying bidder to the bitter end at which point they will agree to a refund but somehow forget to send it or send it to the wrong address or simply dissappwar completely, leaving the p roperty owner with no money and no property. The Dishonest, unscrupulous people here will scam you at every chance they get,
