Had a great experience shopping for an electronic music controller and a harmonica. Had GREAT sales help from a young lady in keyboards that went the extra mile to help me learn about features and capabilities of the device. When it came time to buy, the manager Jonathan was unbelievably polite, patient, and helpful. I’ll go so far as to say it was my “best shopping experience in the area” in a long time. That alone deserves the five stars. Their return policies are great, the people were great, and they carry a great variety of music gear. Well done Guitar Center.

My tone knob on my Gretsch Streamliner guitar came loose from its connection; the entire knob and assembly turned at the same time. I called for an appointment to get it fixed, and the repairman said to bring it right in. So, I went down to the store to see what could be done. When I arrived he quickly finished with the guitar that he was working on. Then he determined my problem was a loose nut under the knob. After removing the knob, he tightened the nut securely. He said vibration from the guitar caused the nut to work loose. After thanking him I was on my way home. My tone knob works better than when I bought the guitar. I am really grateful for such prompt and friendly service.
Not sure what I expected as all previous visits have been the same but typical employees that show no care or respect. Ill continue to order from Sweetwater and use this store as a showroom.
Unfortunately were looking at a major decline of a major chain. Gone are the days of large selections. Fortunately, if your needs are basic, they should have it in stock, otherwise online ordering is your only option.
People were great, instructors were fantastic and the administrative staff were extremely supportive until recently. I hate to give this location poor rating as its not this locals store fault, but after Covid hit, The District and Corporate offices are putting all sorts of restrictions and challenges on the lessons and on paying for lessons. What frustrates me most about this, is they try to sell it as something good for the customer when in fact, we lost the flexibility to scheduling, notably with make-ups. I have two kids and we use to take 4 lessons a week (2 each), but we stopped singing lessons temporary as they are hard to do online so were down to two lessons a week temporarily. We have consistently keep our kids in lessons throughout Covid, we pay on time, and we have bought all our equipment at this store. In the past, we could always use the make-up session on either child, it was great, it made sense and to be honest with you, its this kind of flexibility that has kept us coming to Guitar Center.. Now, due to their system upgrade, I am told that is no longer available, thus, its much harder for us to use up the make-up sessions.Please Note: I will be more than happy to take this review down, when the Corporate Offices realizes value of customers and can show they value their customers, but at this point in time, I am not convinced. Simply put, this is not the time to put silly restrictions in that make it more difficult for customers to take lessons from your local stores. For now were staying as my kids have grown attached to the instructors, but know this does make me want to search for a new place as I am pretty sure I can find another music store that appreciates a good customer and is willing to be pretty flexible in order to get and keep our business.
I have to say this is my second guitar purchased from this guitar center. I was originally happy with my purchase but after I left the store and got home I realized I had been over charged for my purchase (tag on the guitar was $30 less than what I paid). I called the store and spoke with Dillon who was the manager helping me when I was at the store. He assured me my card would be credited the difference. Two weeks later still no credit. I have called the store and left Dillon multiple messages with no call back. Needless to say Guitar Center you have lost a customer.

It used to be like the kid in a candy store feeling when I went to a Guitar Center. Now its kinda sad. I know its hard times for retail, but it was like this before the lock down. I havent been to impressed with a GC in years. Most of the time they either dont have what you are looking for or they dont know what you are looking for. I never want to see them go away. So I keep going there. The employees today were all very nice, and helpful.

I was at Guitar Center years ago to buy a guitar and had numerous people try to help me. This time I went in to purchase a guitar stand and was told flatly, theyre over there in the corner. I felt since I wasnt going to make a big purchase, I wasnt worth talking to.

As someone who does not have a lot of knowledge about guitars I was appreciative of the substantial time they spent with me and my son.
I needed a silent electric guitar set up to be kind to the neighbors, had very nice set up sorted out in less than 15 mins due to a very kind, patient and experienced associate.

Poor customer service, RUDE, ignorant, wouldn’t accept gear card rewards 1 day after expiration after THIS STORE WAS CLOSED FOR 3 months.Handed my wife a 12 string acoustic (THAT SHE PURCHASED FOR ME) out of tune, with an inch of dust after we spent $400...Will likely NEVER buy from this store again.

This Guitar Center location is awesome. They always have whatever I am looking for and the store is very clean and organized. The staff is all extremely helpful, friendly and seem to really know what they are talking about. My one complaint would be that it feels understaffed at times and if there are more than like 3-4 people needing help at a time (which happens often) you may have to wait a bit to be helped. Other than that its great.
Was casually browsing the store yesterday when I discovered a used drum kit that I had previously considered new. Store associate was very friendly and helpful, allowing me to inspect the kit in detail. I made an offer to purchase, she consulted with her manager (Jonathan), we discussed options and finalized an excellent deal. Really appreciate how easy it was to do business with this team.

Bought a drum kit that turned out to be defective, but the staff was great and very helpful and friendly and helped me exchange it for a bass, was worried it would be more troublesome, but the staff was great and really made a tough situation easier.

Store has a lot of guitars and everything youll ever need for playing your guitar. For those who play another instrument, dont worry, theyve got you covered as well. Might want to avoid the normal busy hours that would apply to almost any store. You can always call ahead just in case youre not sure. The sales reps will spend plenty of time helping you out, and theyre very knowledgeable. Great environment also. Im like a kid in a candy store there! Ive bought a very nice Gibson Les Paul 50s Standard there, as well as other items such as a very nice pair of headphones for late night practice.

Imma be honest. I don’t want to be a Karen but bill was supposed to restring my guitar and said it was not worth restringing. He then completely left me and did not say a thing after... terrible customer service from him but I don’t know about everyone else so check this place out and see what ya think. Maybe he was just having a bad day so I’ll give him some grace haha. Sorry my man bill but try to talk to the customer more instead of ghosting them. Godspeed!

It was your typical guitar center greeting, even during a pandemic. Cold but alright.I wouldnt make any big purchases, it doesnt matter to the big box music s chains.
So I have returned to this location after a couple years and let me tell you management and customer service have increased here 10 fold. I would definitely recommend this location over Arlington Heights. Thanks to Dylan Bill and mostly Dom for the great deals and respect. Ordered my guitar on the phone and Dom took real nice care of me. Got to the store and Dylan made sure I got everything I needed and was treated like royalty. Last but not least Bill took a look at my guitar, set it up and gave me his professional touch up on it and opinion on the axe. You guys changed my view on this spot. Will be returning for my future guitar purchases here. Will also be tellin my music friends to purchase from here as well. Only thing they don’t have is a premium guitar selection but if you want to spend 100-2000 on a guitar definitely come here. If you want an expensive guitar I’d also recommend coming here cause they’ll order it for you and give you a sweet discount. Love the acoustic guitar humidifier room as well.

All things music! Guitar Center carries a lot more than just guitars. I could not begin to even list the inventory they had on hand. However, thats not the best part about it, the service people are excellent and if they dont have it in stock or dont stock it they will locate the closest place that does. The employees are very helpful.

I placed an order online for curbside pickup from the Aglonquin location. There was some sort of glitch that caused the store to see it as on hold so they couldnt release it but the 866 customer service team to show it released. I had only ordered a guitar cable for my fiances new bass, so I needed it ASAP. Not only did Kenzie do everything she could to help me get the cable today, but she explored every option and was insanely helpful. I got the cable to my car window and she was friendly and apologetic for the system issues, that were not even her fault. The customer service, especially during this time, was so good. Thank you Kenzie!
When you dont know whats a good deal they spun me around in circles showed me a guitar I was buying as gift and got me out the door ASAP. I wanted to look at other options I should have insisted to see other models then I looked up what I bought and it was $21 Bucks cheaper online with no tax Free shipping. So I wasnt happy😂 I should have returned it but as a gift they liked it so it was just ok I wouldnt go back there!!

Stopped by today on the way home. They carry a large selection of electric and acoustic guitars. There is a huge walk in climate controlled humidor for guitars of all prices. They also have plenty of amplifiers and a big room for drums and cymbals.
I got a great quality ukulele here for only $50, but I did have to return it because there were markings on it. They helped me extange it with no questions asked. I definitely recommend buying here!
Very disappointed. Fewer guitars and effects pedals. Guitar Center was once the mecca for all levels of guitar players. Not so much anymore. Might as well close the doors and stick to the website. How sad.
Really good, they added private practice session booths. Got a really nice amp. Got some parts n strings.. the tech there was really cool and got me set. Found out my daughter has a nack for the drums too! :)
What can I say? GC isnt what it used to be. Aside from accessories, rarely do I find what I need at a store location. Im always told we can order it. Yes, so can I, but sometimes I like to check an item out before I buy it. Managers usually know their way around gear but the kid at the accessory counter? Not so much. Most stores have taken away retail space for lesson rooms. Theyre geared more towards beginners now than jobbing musicians like they used to be.
3 times and the same absent service, no idea about products when I asked specs, and the few times I did get someone they talk as if the sentences they say are all they know. Wheres a real conversation? Or honest knowledge? Every time I go there, no one is in the recording live sound area, I have to go grab someone from another department that doesnt know anything in that department. And the process are becoming way over priced in compared to competors. I wont go to this location again, and Ill be sure to let friends know my experience. Ive been to guitar centers across the country and this one far is the worst. And its not just one experience.Since I cant reply like the owner can Ill edit my post to say this, look at all the other low rated reviews, all are saying exactly the same thing, why do I need to email you about what everyone else is saying?

Long story short...I had a big issue trying to get the sound right with my drum setup. John and Carlos rocked me out. The very best in the business. They will work with your budget and get you what you need...not what you dont. I will not shop anywhere else.
If you need basic things in a hurry this is a good store. But they mostly just keep generic stuff in stock. Nothing too impressive.

Great music store with helpful and friendly staff. Also carry a good selection of high end headphones. Salesperson spent a long time helping my son pick out great sounding AKG headphones. Product warranty is one of the best! If product breaks for any reason, they quickly have you a gift card for replacement within days.

I went in there to check out lessons for my daughter, th staff was great, once they got to me, but lets face it I went on the 23rd of Dec. And the wait time was actually better then I would have expected. I was thrilled with the time and care they took answering my questions, Even thought it was obviously a very busy day for them. Cant wait to hear my daughter playing some Tom petty. Really good selection of song books and instruments. This would have been a 5 star review and will be once I actually meet the teacher.

Regrettably, I opened my new speakers today to find that one of them was banged up. I called the store and they immediately went to work for me! I had just bought them and have been a good customer for a few years now. So, without any hassles, the manager was able to exchange the speaker without making me jump through tons of hoops! I appreciate the mid professionalism and eagerness to assist me as these were NOT cheap speakers! Thank you Guitar Center staff for being there when I needed you!

Chris helped me in the drum room as I have been waiting for someone to have a Pork Pie drum throne in stock so I could try one out as I have a spine injury and the seat is very important for me. I have heard Pork Pie is forgiving for low back pain. Rumors were right! Very comfortable for my low spine! They did not have any in stock though so I still went out empty handed. I offered to buy the demo but they said they wouldnt sell it. I offered full price but Im SOL. Guess I have to keep looking. Its only been over a year before they got one in when I checked so whats more time to wait

I had a recently purchased PA speaker die on me and they worked with me and the company to get a replacement to me ASAP. Great customer service. Love the store and love the people who work there.
I took my NEW guitar here for a routine setup. After a month of not hearing back, I finally showed up and grabbed my guitar. They didnt charge me, saying that they werent able to adjust it. To make a long story short, They totally stripped my truss rod by using the wrong Allen wrench. My guitar is ruined. They didnt mention it to me, so I had to discover it by myself. Never had such terrible service, zero communication after a MONTH and then destroying my guitar and trying to hide it.

Yesterday on 11/26/2018, I had the pleasure to go inside a guitar center for my very first time. Id like to say Thank you to all employees and everyone working on this day. Every employee made me feel welcomed there and also helped me feel free to look, to enjoy and even play what I was interested in. It was nice to be greeted by the employees in a manner that we as customers rarely even see or hear as often anymore these days and coming from retail myself I appreciated the way in which my biyfriemd and I were treated. It may not seem such a big deal to others, but to me and as a customer, It must be said that I am and will forever be a customer to this place for any gift I would buy my boyfriend. The employees(all of them acknowledged their Cuatomers with a smile and gave a warm welcome for us to enter a store they evidently take complete pride in being part of. I have to mention that many other stores lack this kind of customer service and over time weve lost the ability to greet customers with a warmth to merely welcome who walks in the door. However, this is NOT the case at Guitar Center I must acknowledge in the hopes that these great men and woman that worked on 11/26/2018 know theyve done a job very well done. This is Excellent customer service at its finest. From not only the floor employees, but also the store manager who also introduced himself by name and asked if we should need any assistance that he, as well as the rest of the gang, were there to help. I believe this is a representation of a an extraordinary customer service that should be acknowledged as well as rewarded in some way or in some form. What a great team and a happy team at that! Though I have yet to learn the the variety of guitars that are on display, I strongly feel this is it, this is where Ill have the support to find the very best for my best. I am 100% certain I will be back to purchase my gift for my boyfriend at this place rather than any other place due to the joy it brought them to have us there. Thank you to all involved.
Only been here once, but when asking about drum kits I waited for about 15 minutes after someone called for assistance, nobody came, so they called again and someone assisted. Young girl, helpful, but then another employee attempted to pull her away to help him in the middle of our conversation. Was a little insulting. But overall I got what I came for.
Yes this is a small store and yes the employees need work. BUT they have a terrible system with the computers and I can tell that only the Managers know how to work the computers. Thus not the employees faults. Guitar center is your typical cheap company that does not want to upgrade there computers or the buying and selling transactions. I got really decent service (it was slow) but they did the best they could. I got good deals on trades compared to Sam ash. Over all. not terrible.
This store is great, especially because of its proximity to the sushi at Jewel. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, ask them about the sushi at Jewel!
Everyone who works there is a up and coming rock star! Unfortunately they are forgetting that they are employees first rock stars on their own time or at home rocking out to their internet backing tracks in their moms basement.

A decent selection and prices are ok. The acoustic guitars are poorly maintained. Virtually all are way out of tune. The help is somewhat knowledgeable, but none Ive seen really know how to connect their customers with the right product for them.
I was really disappointed in selling used musical instruments to them with their extremely low ball offerings. The mark-up will be over 400%. That doesnt seem reasonable at all.
Was in the store for over 30 minutes without even being acknowledged. The employees were more interested in each other than offering help. Needless to say, I spent my $ elsewhere.

Everyone in there ive talked to has been really helpful and honest, sometimes theyre a little busy but you always know theyre gonna help you out as fast as they can. the guys there helped me buy some of my first equipment and were awesome at helping me find something that would work and save me some money. check em out!
After my 1st and only purchae, customer service went down from good to the worst. I was supposed to get a credit/reward which i can use towards a new purchase in-store or online and i’m just being passed back and forth between store and different departments in customer service & synchrony bank. Is this how you treat your customers? No one can tell me how i can get that reward. I will not purchase again from Guitar Center unless i get my reward within reasonable time.
