I like this Giant store although I dont get here often. Its always clean and welcoming. Large produce area and I find the store to be well laid out.

The way the Mayor and City Council are handling Duke Street traffic (by blindly turning an eye to the cause of it being the poor infrastructure and design of Alexandria West End not accommodating to the surge of cut thru 395-495 Marylanders and the lack of N-S/E-W connectivity coupled with the skyrocketing growth of Mark Center and Carlyle Center) have made shopping here impossible between 12:00pm and 9:00pm most days.Couple that with the unbelievable decisions to place DASH, WMATA, ACPD, and ACPD fleet headquarters all within two blocks at the one of just two of aforementioned arterial intersections and youve completely made the off peak hours that much more difficult.Lastly add in the various exit requirements like no right on red with the ACPD sitting there pulling people over at 5am on Sundays or the new red light turn cameras and what shouldve been motivated by traffic reduction is clearly now quote obviously motivated by revenue generation as theres other such points on Duke that have similar traffic laws that are time boxed as this one should be.At the end of the day, the incompetent city government since the new mayor Justin and his holy on high attempt to stop cut through in his neighborhood so his children can play in the street has pushed all the traffic onto Duke and this 20year three properties owning resident to put up for sale and move out of the area into a NOVA community that doesnt elect government contract PMPs as their part-time mayor.Yes Alexandria mayor and City Council are part time, non paid positions for some too. The motivation and caliber of those attracted to such are unfortunately what the now similar size.to Saint Louis, MO city of Alexandria,VA has to suffer consequences daily.

Wanted to leave a review on the website from the receipt but it’s not working for some reason. Anyways this is the only Giant I go to in this area, great staff & a great store manager. He is always helping everyone whether it’s his staff or customers.

This Giant Food location really elevates the Giant brand of grocery stores. It feels almost as if it was a wholefoods. There are a lot of great healthy food options.

I was there today 9/15, between 4 and 5pm. The African American woman at the deli counter was rude and nasty. I asked for a bit of certain ham to taste, her answer was NO! Without an explanation or a sorry, we cannot.When I asked her why not, she said they dont offer tastes. Big lie because they do. Im there every week to get my groceries and cold cuts and the guys who are there, do it. Also, she didnt even bother to look for the cheese I wanted, and said they didnt have it.I think Im going to another giant store for my weekly groceries.Sad how a bad employee can make the store loose customers

Usually a very good location. Items are well stocked, and employees are friendly. However, this location and the one in Potomac Yard have had serious issues with seriously freezer burned frozen vegetables particularly broccoli. I open the package when I get home to vacuum seal them, and they are covered in ice crystals. Needless to say, after months of buying those at Giant with no issue, I will start getting them at Wegmans. Please have a talk with your supplier. No issue with anything else.

Overall a good Giant location. Well stocked overall though not as many different options for a few items like pasta styles and hot sausage. Staff was friendly and helpful. Got everything I needed in not too long of a trip.

Haven’t been here in a while so was surprised that the produce selection is limited. There is a lot of baby spinach but no arugula. There also were no radishes or pomegranates and the asparagus was all dried out. No water at all in any of the bins.

Always clean and stocked except for that 1 time.

This Giant is great; great selections, fresh veggies and fruits, cut and packaged for extremely busy (or lazy people). A joy to shop..I am estatic for the vacuum packaged beets. They are extraordinary. Havent seen them any other store.

This grocery store has a nice selection, but they have some really obscene women on the staff who are gross, and make nasty comments to customers. Ive never understood why anyone would be so randomly hateful to a customer, but it happens, and this store has some women on staff who are really mean.

I have given this Giant location many chances because it is the closest one to my house. However today was probably the last straw. I went today at 10:30 to get their sale on rib steaks. Buy three and you get them for $7.99 a pound. Great deal! Get there and there was one couple ahead of me and they could not find the rib steaks that were on sale. They asked the meat department and a lady brought out five rib steaks. The couple in front of me purchased three of the five. When the lady put out The five rib steaks she didnt put them in any particular spot. She just laid them on top of other meat. So I look at the two that were left and Im thinking okay theres no place for their sale steaks. So I ask the man behind the meat counter if they had more rib steaks that they had on sale. He brings out one more. so if you want their sale items you literally have to ask them for them at 10:30 on the first day of the sale. They also had on sale their farmland bacon. They had about 7 lb of bacon out none of the thick cut which is advertised on sale in addition to the regular. 90% of the time and Im not joking 90% of the time when I look through their lettuce or other vegetables they are way past their prime. If I go to their deli the people behind the counter are not helpful, theyre not happy, and dont make it a good experience. I dont need someone to entertain me, but I would like them to at least be engaging with their customers. I like to use their self-checkout guns. I dont think thats the right term but you can use their guns to scan your food as you go along. I was there one time and none of their guns were charged and I even asked the manager and hes like oh yeah we had a glitch in the system but Ill get somebody to reboot the system. I waited and checked back multiple times throughout my shopping and it never happened for 45 minutes. Itd be one thing if this store had engaging employees, but most of them just dont care. I know right now during covid-19 they are overworked and Im not looking for someone to be my best friend, but their employees generally are not engaged, appear to not care to be helpful, and it has been a long time since Ive had a good experience doing my grocery shopping at the giant on Duke Street.

This Giant usually has some good deals on meat that you wont find at other places. Plus the shopping center has a few more good places like Glory Days Grill and Panera Bread.

Everything is clean and organized. Not cheap.

Need more people working as cashiers at night. It seems they only want you to use self-checkouts in the evenings but you cant buy gift cards at the registers without a person to ring you out and activate the cards.

Never coming here again. I bought a bag of onions and all but one were rotten, I can’t afford to waste money like that and it really it’s incredibly frustrating.

Employees here are very rude and disrespectful. Today, all the refrigerated items were covered in plastic because apparently the power went out (youd think theyd have a better insurance policy against that). I asked an employee if I could reach under it to get something, and her response? A firm, curt, No. Really? You couldnt have explained why? Maybe apologized? Unbelievable. Similar things have happened before. No one asks if they can help you. Employees stand right in front of the shelves with obstructive carts, restocking at peak times, not moving for anyone. So unnecessary to be that uncouth. Train your employees better, Giant. Because right now, they suck.

Great place to shop for food.

I love their deli department! They always have two people staffed at all times. The staff is very efficient and listens to you on how you want your meat and cheese sliced. Also, they carry Boar’s Head which is my favorite!

Clean and a good variety of food.

Love this seafood department. They are clean but they dont wipe down carts anymore. They did have lysol wipes and disenfectectant spray

11/10 visit. Shelves are well stocked. Found Clorox 2!

Thank you Giant FoodThis is a community oriented grocery store that works with a senior group who in turn services the community. Providing a place for seniors to gather and materials for 35 beautiful Christmas stockings for children who have refuge with a parent in a local shelter.The stockings were good quality with stuffed toys and treats. The volunteers at the shelter who see donations all the time were moved by the personal gifts prepared by Giants highly skilled group of grandparents. The manager was also very careful to get proper documentation, receipts and proof their efforts went to a good cause.This is a store worth supporting.With much gratitude Kirby

This store is good to shop at its very clean and you can find the things you mostly need except Lysol disinfectant spray still waiting on it🙂

Beginning to vastly prefer thr Duke Street Giant over to the King Street/Braddock Rd Safeway. Giant has better prices and more variety and size options.

Giant is leading the way in customer service and hard to find food items. This Giant is always clean and the food is fresh. Staff speaks to you freely and still help you reach items or check the back of store for items if not on shelf.

Things were scarce on the shelves. Looked Ike pandemic panic again. Not good.

This grocery feels crowded and dark, and the selection in the deli, canned goods and frozen foods is very limited. Even so, the parking is plentiful and there is a really good dry cleaner in the complex. To be fair, I am within walking distance of Whole Foods and can easily drive to Fresh Market. I have not found a favored supermarket yet.

Not as big as some of the newer Giant stores but it has everything you need. The hot foods section has some good chicken tenders, fried fish and potato wedges if youre wondering what to pick up for dinner.

I only come to this Giant for two reasons: convenience of location and the wine sample lady is AWESOME! However, that may not be enough to keep me anymore. The stock consistency is horrendous. I don’t know who their buyer is, but they suck. And for my experience tonight, the management was poor. Most of the carts were in the cart returns in the parking lot, blocking off half of the row to cars. No one had bothered to bring them in until another customer mentioned it to an employee. Plus, for a Friday evening, there were only two cashiers and both of their lanes had VERY LONG lines for checkout. Not a manager in sight stepping up to either bring more cashiers or jump in themselves and open another lane. Or even to apologize for the wait and explain if there was an extenuating circumstance. I do understand that happens. Our cashier was great though. Bagged items in an appropriate manner, a lost art it seems these days. Plus, she had previously sprained her ankle, but still managed to come in to work! Wonderful work ethic!

Nice selection of food,especially in the fresh fruit and veggies section and in the freshly baked goods. Too bad all the advertised discounts are only available with their card; regular prices for common items are otherwise way higher than in other stores..

Nothing exciting about a grocery store besides quickly getting in and out. 😀 I dont like grocery shopping; however, its a large, clean store. The employees are very friendly and helpful. The cashiers move quickly. There is plenty of parking.

Giant is not the grocery store it use to be 15 years ago(overpriced). You can find better deals here then in other grocery stores and some big box stores. Giant us our go to grocery store.

This is my go to supermarket in the area. The store is clean, well stocked and has various/numerous products. I have found everything I wanted here. The prices are always great and reasonable. I rarely interact with the staff but the free times that I have, they have been nice, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

The produce dept runs out of some items at times if you arrive past 7 pm. However, for the most part the staff does a good job in keeping the store clean and stocked while working to reduce the time waiting in line at check out. Keep up the great work!

I love this store if I need to just pick up a few items. I can go there after a meeting, find what I need quickly, and be on my way home. Convenient location and friendly staff have me coming back.

Decent selection, but higher prices than elsewhere. Id prefer to spend the extra couple dollars on gas to travel to Wegmans for a much better experience.

Had a hard time finding pork chops there is alot of chicken everywhere.

Giant has consistently a great selection of products at lower prices than most. I think the best feature is the scanner. It allows you to scan your items and breeze through checkout with your items already packed out in your bags.

This store has a great allergy friendly / organic section. Their Natures Promise organic soy milk makes the best froth for my homemade lattes.They have plastic bag recycling at both entrances. Getting checked out is quick with normal cashier, self checkout and scan-it options.

Ive shopped at Giant for almost 40 years and Im very pleased with the service. I hope that more people support Our Giant Food Stores. I have had only one bad experience but customer service compensated me with a fresh merchandise. Thanks to Our Giant and their excellent customer service.

We went to Giant looking for Dunkin Donut coffee cream and got the last 2 containers of original flavor. Thanks, as several other Giant food stores are out of stock.

I use to love coming to this Giant because I could always find great produce. I will never come back again, after my experience. I was followed around the store by a lady in a black shirt and then when it was time to check out ( I use the scan-it hand scanner so I can bag as I shop) they literally scanned all of my items over again, Im assuming to make sure I wasnt stealing. This slowed down my entire process because everything was already bagged. TALK ABOUT INCONVENIENT. I will not be back.

This is the perfect location for me. Not too far from where I live. My only complaint is that it doesnt have everything Im looking to buy. I still have to go to another store if theres something in particular that I want and I know they dont sell it. Other than that, its nice and clean. The staff is very helpful and great location.

Recent addition / improvements have made this local supermarket much better. Food prices are reasonable and better than the closest Whole Foods and Harris Teeter. The quality of the produce is usually very good. Deli and meat dept staff are very friendly and helpful. We always try to get in Jims checkout line, as he is extremely friendly and treats us like family.

Great deli for when you need to get a quick lunch. I had to pack a lunch and they had some many choices. 💜 it

This is the nicest Giant around. The food selection is better than most of the Giants in the area. I still do most of my shopping at Wegmans for the price and selection, but this giant is always good for quick trips.

This is my definite go to. It’s close to the bridge before I head home. Nice wine and beer selection. They are rarely out of stock.

Great beer selection and since the remodel, the expanded organic aisles and cold/frozen section have a lot of the stuff I used to head to HT to purchase. Staff is always friendly. BUT my favorite thing is the Scan It guns. Bring your own bags, scan and pack as you go. Pay the self check machine and youre out. My entire check out process is always under 2 minutes.

I work just across the street and started coming here because it was convenient. The food is good (all my fruits/veggies have been fine, with rare instances of rot/mold that are simply part of ordering fresh food from a grocery chain). But what really won me over is are the folks in the pharmacy. This team is fantastic. Theyre kind, quick, and helpful. My pharmacist, Emily, stopped an interaction that should have been caught by my doctor. The team shows empathy at my pain and make me laugh and commiserate with me. I truly appreciate the pharmacy team, and look forward to continuing to work with them as I figure out this fibromyalgia thing!

Pretty decent store. Never been into one before this was my first time. Needed to get milk late night and I am glad they were open.
