Convenient location across Diagnal Rd. from King Street Metro. Excellent selection of pastries, muffins, scones,, coffee cakes and cookies with espresso, coffees and teas. Breakfast and lunch served all day. Sandwiches and salads are terrific and expertly prepared with attention to detail and presentation. Price is higher than expected, but quality was better than local chain coffee shops. I highly recommend you treat yourself at For Five Coffee Roasters when youre downtown.

Really great spot for coffee a few blocks from King St. and across from the metro. An added bonus is this shop sells pastry and breakfast items (sandwiches, bowls, etc.). A cup of Joe is a typical price for the area—but worth the taste. Outdoor and indoor seating with a great view. Drink/eat local and skip Starbucks!

The place is amazing, so far the pastries are very good and coffee is wonderful. They have real baristas (who are warm and inviting) and hand make your coffee instead of some machine on auto-pilot. My favorite is their small latte, its the perfect blend of Expresso and steamed milk. Unlike other places that have the automated machines and they serve you light coffee flavored warm milk. If you are a true coffee person and drink different coffees for the flavors and settled notes of different distinct flavors, this is the one of the places you have to experience.

My goodness the food was so delicious at For Five!!!! Not only that, they have a ton of vegetarian choices and the two we had were amazing: Bibimbap and Avocado Crush. The coffee and tea were yummy as well and the staff super friendly. I highly recommend For Five!!!

I went there for working. They provide free wifi and sockets (not all tables though).Restroom clean and bright.The coffee is good, but it came with a disposable cup even I was staying. I would have preferred a mug to avoid more waste.

Coffee was some of the best I’ve had! Tried the cold brew on tap and a cappuccino, both were great! Freshly baked pastries and overnight oats were delicious as well. A bit on the pricier side but worth it to treat yourself when you’re on vacation!

Best cafe meets restaurant I’ve been to in Alexandria. The food was so good (so many healthy options) and the matcha was great. Great service, too. Oh and the cookies (we can’t wait to go back for those).

As a native of the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia Metro Area) I have to say: this is some of the best coffee around. Not only is their coffee selection rich and diverse, the ambiance and service render a great spot to get work done, have a date, or just take a break from your normal routine. Their food and baked goods are amazing too! While all staff members with For Five are awesome people, NICOLE stands out as the best around. She has taken care of me and my family in more ways than one! With people like her and a company like For Five, you just found your new favorite coffee, bakery, and food spot.

Their coffee was so good (just got an iced Americano with cream) and service was fast and friendly. The pastures are huge and pretty tasty. They have indoor and outdoor seating so good amount of space.

First time being here. Let me just say, a very clean and friendly place! What really caught our eyes were the enormous pastries! Couldn’t help but get three cookies; chocolate chip, apple cinnamon, and s’mores! They were so fresh and melt in your mouth as soon as you bit into them! Along with that, ordered a small iced peppermint latte with almond milk and a dirty iced matcha latte. Both were super good! Highly recommend this place not only for a sweet tooth coffee craving but also a great work atmosphere to get any online work or homework done. Will be returning for lunch because the food looked great too!

The service is so so slow!! I love the cold brew coffee but waiting in line for 30 minutes because only one person is working on a Sunday morning is not worth it. With better staffing I would definitely come back for the great cold brew. It is expensive too which makes inadequate staff even more strange.

Normally outstanding but today’s barista delivered a latte that you’d expect to have at Starbucks: no foam or latte art, just a shot of espresso w scolding hot milk dumped in. Not up to For Five standards.

I see some mixed reviews on here lately, so I just wanted to say I had an excellent experience! It was my first time here but definitely won’t be my last! The Five coffee was unlike any coffee I’ve ever had (and I try a lot of unique little coffee shops), it had a good strong coffee flavor but was also super creamy. Had a subtle sweetness and a unique twist with the orange peel! Açaí bowl is beautiful!! And tasty. And staff was super friendly and helpful. I can’t wait to go back and try more items on the menu!

Wow! What a great place for coffee, lunch and breakfast bites! Right off the King Street metro so very convenient. Got the Blue Owl Acai bowl, the Cacao pancakes and the Chai latte! My only complaint is the rude lady in front me of me who made the baristas wash every single dish they used to make her drink, because she cant touch dairy. Those guys handled it awesomely though!!

Rude baristas, two of ‘em. No line but took forever making coffee, could barely be bothered to tell us what kind of muffins they had despite there being no signs on any of the average looking pastries. When I ordered a pour over the one barista literally groaned and rolled his eyes and told the other one to clear his schedule for the next five minutes. Also, insane prices even for this bougie place. $18 for an avocado smashed on toast with an egg? I’ll pass. $5.50 for a red eye and almost $9 for a pour over?? Ridiculous prices for very average tasting drinks.

The last time my partner & I went, we noticed three people standing by the coffee bar (that has no sneeze guard), all without masks, and in close proximity to the staff and customers. It was immediately clear that the staff wasn’t saying anything to them, so we decided to leave. Today, intending to give them another chance, my partner & I walked back over, and after ordering, one of the staff came out to put some more pastries out, however she had her mask below her nose the entire time she was working over the baked goods, breathing all over them. She did put it back up after she was done though, accomplishing exactly nothing. The coffee is good, and the atmosphere is nice, but they aren’t taking masks seriously at all, so I won’t be returning, until they make some serious changes in operations.

You never pay the same price for the same drink. The help is very lethargic. Their service has gone downhill since they opened. Its a shame because they have a nice, but overpriced menu and a great location!

My husband and I have been gone to this four five location dozens of times over the past 6 months. They have good espresso and pastries and cinnamon rolls, and a full food menu as well. It’s conveniently located right across from king street metro station, and there is covered outdoor seating. Nicole remembers her regular customers and is always welcoming and friendly even when it’s busy. Apart from one or two instances when a brand-new employee didn’t have the hang of things yet, we have always had a good experience — I’m puzzled that there are any negative reviews at all. Incidentally, I have never seen a group of people in the shop without masks on — I have seen the manager here enforce mask-wearing when a customer comes in without one, I would not be comfortable coming here otherwise.

This coffeeshop is amazing. I come here almost everyday to do my work. The food dishes are very creative and very delicious. The executive chef takes a lot of pride in the work she does and it shows! The staff are very friendly and accommodating and they always answer my questions about the menu. My favorites so far are the Okonomiyaki, the 24 hour oatmeal, and the Korean chicken bao buns. The service is also very fast. Very comfortable seating, great lighting, and there are plenty of power outlets to plug your laptop into. They also play great music. Love this place so much!

Went last weekend, wanted a refund. No one has responded to my messages for the whole week, so bad customer service. Overall, very upset with this place. I ordered 2 matcha lattes and they were gross. I know this is a coffee shop but don’t offer matcha if it’s going to be low quality. It was brownish instead of bright green and chunky. Matcha was not sifted but he did use a bamboo whisk. Because it was not low quality matcha and not sifted there were chunks of matcha sitting on the bottom. I didn’t get to say anything because we were in a rush and it was too crowded to wait to speak to the one worker. Left, then later realized I was charged 16 dollars for the 2 drinks, I’ve never paid so much for a matcha latte anywhere. Especially not something so bad. Don’t go here, low quality matcha can be dangerous if it’s not from Japan. I’m genuinely worried about what I drank and I’m glad I threw it away. However, atmosphere was nice and the place was clean, so I thought of rating higher than 1 star but price and quality are the most important things to me and I felt ripped off.

Go to for five every single day! Their coffee is amazing! But the staff is the real reason we keep coming back! Particularly Nicole who is our Barista, she is always happy, willing to help and gets our order so fast! We love her spirit so we will keep coming back!

Was a big fan of Four Five since they first opened here. Best espresso and coffee in old town. But two recent attempted visits where staff weren’t wearing masks correctly, makes me wonder what else they’re not taking seriously.

The setting is very nice. Nice furniture and tables, which replaced the convenience store that was once in that location across from the King Street metro station.(BUT)A cup of coffee at 7-Eleven is just as good, if not better, where I have a broader selection of the flavored creams and sugars I desire. We had coffee (latte and drip) and ordered their breakfast (omelet and avocado sandwich) and our favorite thing was the chocolate chip cookie! It’s was so yummy!

Vanilla ice latte is perfectly made each time and the food is fantastic! Would recommend!

Cool coffee shop chain. Been to several in NY. The guy working front area/cashier wasnt very personable and seemed miserable.

I work in Alexandria City and drive by this location every day. I was interested in setting up a tasting for me and my coworkers. I spoke with someone on the phone and was told that someone would get back to me shortly. I called back a week later and was told that someone would get back to me shortly. A month later and still no call. Ive tried calling this branch a few times and get a voicemail each time. Not sure whats going on with this company. They dont want me as a customer so the two stars are for the coffee I will never taste.

Really great spacious cafe with friendly staff and an excellent latte. Looking forward to trying more from this place in the future. Its great to have excellent coffee and atmosphere down at this end of King St. and another great coffee option in Old Town. Places like For Five are helping to give people a reason to explore all of Old Town Alexandria and not just the waterfront.

Friendly service, food is decent, my main reason for going here is coffee/espresso drinks. It’s not bad, it’s just OK and really expensive compared to all the other nice coffee shops around. The prices on their board are all wrong by like .25-.50 cents and they say they haven’t updated them yet (but they’ve been saying that for a YEAR now). A small chai for $6.11? That uses a store bought concentrate? Come on. I would come here more often if I wasn’t dropping $5.50 on a cap each time. Psh.

I stumbled upon For Five across from the metro this morning and was surprised to meet their very own co-founder, Stefanos, at the register. Upon chatting with him you can tell that he really cares about his business and you, as a customer. This is the type of energy King Street has needed -- smooth blends, authentic service, & a spacial atmosphere to enjoy your coffee. I highly recommend their cold brew + spanakopita!

First visit and was incredibly good. The customer service was fantastic. They walked us through their specialties and made recommendations. We ended up getting the five: drip coffee with a shot of espresso, ganache, and orange peel. It was so good. Just enough sweetness that it was not bitter, but not too sweet. Ive not had orange peel in coffee before and I loved it. It gave such a freshness to the hot coffee. Incredible! The Louie: cold brew with half and half and maple syrup. Very good as well. If you like sweet iced coffee this hits the spot. We also tried the avacado smash toast, amazing. It has carrots, a 6 min egg, chia seeds and arugula salad with citrus. Really good. The Nutella bite cookies were also very good with the Five coffee.Overall it was a great experience. We loved everything we got from them and will definitely be back. A great addition to old town and they are right across the street from King Street metro station. Highly recommend.

Came in for a smoothie bowl but was told the kitchen closed at 5pm? On a Saturday? They might as well just close the whole restaurant at 5. Its a dumb decision and very irritating

Lovely coffee shop across from Alexandria station. The incredibly handsome barista with gorgeous eyes was so kind and the coffee was fantastic, not a hint of acid, didnt require any sweetener, smooth as silk. Next time Im through Ill be accepting the punch card & staying for the Beet Gravlax gluten-free entrée. Wish Id checked they served food before I sat down at the spot next door, but its nice to have something to look forward to on these trips ;)

I didnt even enter, but turned on my heel and left.If you prefer light classical music or easy boss nova music with your morning coffee, then youd be disappointed. Dont come here. Blame generation Z, I suppose, for wrecking all our coffee shops.
