The best ever rug buying experience at J & J! We traveled 3 hours to go to this store and it didnt disappoint. The store was super clean, spacious and it has a huge variety of different style rugs to choose from. Joshua, one of the owners, is who helped us. He was super kind, knowledgeable and a true master of his trade. He even kept our kids occupied while we were looking around and ended up gifting them 2 small rugs of their choice! Needless to say the kids were thrilled. We bought 3 beautiful rugs at very reasonable prices and we couldnt be happier. Thank you J&J! Well be back.

Visiting Old Town Alexandria for the first time and just happened to be walking by J & J. We live in a more rural location, and I am usually limited to buying rugs online, so it was such a treat! There is nothing like seeing them in person. The owner was so helpful and patient to show us rug after rug until I fell in love with one I had to have. Even though this shop is a couple hours from our home, I know I will return the next time I’m in the market for a rug. J & J’s selection, quality, and service were wonderful, and I was very pleasantly surprised by their prices.

We got the most perfect rug for our nursery. Joshua and Joseph were very helpful. Nathan helped us too. The whole atmosphere was warm and inviting. Gretchen was so sweat. I have owned rugs from j&j for more than 35 years. They were beautiful when I bought them and they still are. Joseph and Joshua were extremely helpful in helping me select what would be best for my home and I think I got exceptionally good rugs for the price I paid. They could not have been better in helping me. And they were fun to deal with!! When I walked into J & J I wasn’t sure what I was looking for. The salesman was very patient. He showed me some rugs and very quickly got the idea of what I liked. He then guided me expertly to the right size, design, and colors. The minute the rug was on my floor I was thrilled and I knew it was perfect. Shopping there was a wonderful experience.

Will be looking here for all my nice rugs! When the rug that drew my eye was out of by budget range, and a little small for the space, Joseph found me a rug that fit my space and was in budget! I was also able to take the rug home on approval to try it out, which was amazingly convenient!! They have just about every kind of rug you could want and if the highest quality too: handmade, all wool or other natural fibers, and just gorgeous all around. 11/10, and I really don’t think I’m exaggerating.

Great store, great people who work there too. A staple of old town, stop in and see all the beautiful rugs in their big store, hear all their history! I’ve bought four rugs there now, and they’re all amazing. Two rugs I bought from overseas needed cleaning and repair, and they did that amazingly well too! Will be back for another rug soon.

Our experience with Joshua and Joseph at J & J Rugs in Alexandria was beyond fabulous! They were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, accommodating and generous with their time and professionalism as we made our decisions. From the moment we walked Joseph treated us like family. They are genuine, their products are beautiful and their prices more than fair. The experience couldnt be better! They even made us tea! Later we met Joshua (the other J of J&J) - he is equally gracious. For now on, this where I get all my rugs! (pictures dont do justice to the beauty of this rug).

A very odd experience. I went in to get a quote on a rug cleaning and they told me that it would have to be sent to New York to get cleaned and would take a month (it is a 3x5 ft rug and there was no stain on it). They kept trying to get me to sign papers and telling me that I need to get the rug appraised. It was all quite stressful. When I told them I did not want to spend $400, as that seemed like a crazy expensive cleaning, they were able to bring it down to $100. I was still unsure about the whole situation, especially because another place told me that it should only cost around $80 to clean it. When I didnt jump all over the $100 offer, they told me to get out and to never come back and that I was no longer allowed in their store.

This store offers the best, most gorgeous selection of oriental rugs in the DMV area and the customer service is exceptional. Ive been shopping there twice in the last few months. Once with a friend and then again on my own to buy the rug I fell in love with on the first visit. There is not another store in the Washington, D.C. area that has such an extensive selection of Persian and Pakistani rugs. We purchased our first beautiful Tabriz rugs from J&J when we moved to Alexandria some time ago. They are rude and liars. Take your rug at your own peril. I told them I only wanted the rug cleaned. They said the cost to clean was $150. They called back saying there was damage to the fringe and it would cost $300 more. I agreed. When the rug was returned, there was no repair done on it. Indeed, it was never damaged in the first place! Go to a different one that wont lie to you like these will.

We just moved to the area and we’re referred to J and J Rugs after one of our favorite rugs was damaged in our cross country move. J and J were very accommodating, explained how the repair would be done and the rug cleaned. Today we picked up our rug. We spent several minutes knowing where the damage had been but could lot see any visible sign of it. After about 20 mins we think we identified a spot on the back of the rug wheee the damage may have been... Just a super job that beat our expectations. They were communicative throughout and we could not be happier with the end product and service!

DO NOT buy anything from this store. The owners are liars and thieves. I bought 2 rugs from them which they claimed were Persian rugs. A couple days later I got them appraised by a reputable auction company, Alex Cooper, and it turned out they were both FAKE Chinese knock offs worth MUCH less than what I paid for. I called J and J to return the rugs and get my money back and not only did the owner refuse to take them back but he was also extremely rude. Do not spend your money here, they will take advantage of you.

We took a badly stained (mostly by our dogs) Kashan to J & J Oriental Rugs for cleaning and repair thinking theyd say sorry, cant be done. It took some time but when it came back it was beautiful - hardly recognized it!! Weve now sent 7 more orientals to them (our dogs have been busy). The workmanship is incredible - color-matching impeccable, the cleaning took our stains I never thought would come out. Highly recommend J & J Oriental Rugs!

I have been shopping at J and J for over a decade. You will never meet a more hospitable, generous and knowledgeable trio. Ms. N, Mr. J and Mr. J are the most customer friendly bunch.The short version is they will trade a new rug for yours, they will repair most damages no matters how old, the will deliver for free and pick up. They know the product and they sell all price level, they sell to everyone including the federal gov, embassies and average joe’s like me. I can not thank them enough for the smooth transactions I have had with them. Please read an example bellow:Here is an example of many that had happen to meet and others. I bought a 100% hand knotted wool rug from them at a fair price, compared to blooming dale over inflated fake sale. Once I took it home I was in love with it However it was a bit too small so I asked if another one can be found larger. They looked everywhere and mange to find a similar and sent me pictures. But none of them were as beautiful so I asked can custom one be made and they said they can. Fast forward several months I received the rug exactly as the previous one in the mean time they let me keep the original so i compare it to new one. Although it was beautiful rug one of color was close match but not exact due to different dye lot from a different batch. mind you again this is handmade. So technically this absolutely non returnable since I had it made. J and j and N not only came back a third time to my house way out to pick up the rugs we pick another one from the shop and delivered it again.

I recently had an antique Heriz cleaned and repaired by J & J. It looks INCREDIBLE. Not only are the edges beautifully repaired, but the entire rug looks new -- except wonderfully old at the same time. I have no idea how they did what they did to repair it. The entire rug is strengthened because they saw how fragile it was. It is now a WOW. Ive had rugs worked on before but this work is beyond!

I went to J&J many times and they were very helpful. they fixed my rugs and cleaned them. I was very pleased with the job they did. they have a beautiful collection of rugs.

Joseph has a large space with any kind of rug you can imagine. I went to J & J Oriental Rug Gallery to sell my two Persian carpets and one Turkmen carpet on consignment. Joseph has very reasonable terms. Customer service is excellent!!

I would give zero stars if I could. We drove to the store for almost an hour and were treated extremely disrespectfully so we needed to leave after 10 minutes. The prices that were given over the phone were totally different from the prices at the store.

I visit this company today I tell the guy I am a business man of the carpets to I just want to understand what style carpets they sale but finally I see very stupid guy start to argument with us he has a all Chinese carpets he said they are is Persians is that not right he show the Chinese Carpets he said they are Turkish please take care of place I never and ever recommend this place because what they sale is never orginal and all of them is fake please never enter the this place why I write this comments here we are adults I wish every body reads this comments and he will try to sale orginal rugs best regards for the every body

I like rugs and I love old oriental rugs! I love the smell when I step into a lot of old rug stores. But J&J surprised me on two counts. Not so much smell (slighty musty old wool) and a much larger percentage of really great rugs.You see, I am accustomed to having to search through piles of rugs to come up with a few interesting rugs, but Joshua and Joseph have an amazing selection of really nice and interesting rugs in their shop! I was overwhelmed a bit on my first visit.Easy to say, I have a new favorite rug store. My wife and I went in looking for a rug to go in our dining room/area. We came up with a few choices and talked with Joseph about them. We then left to sleep on our choice... When we returned two days later, Joseph said that he had a couple of other rugs that we should look at. WOW! He had picked two others out that suited our wishes even better. It took me only a minute to see that one of the pair was just right! And it still is weeks later, just looking so good there! Yah, I have a new favorite rug store. I sure do!You want a rug, a good, a GREAT rug? You know what Im going to tell you. GO to J&J!

Shopping at J & J Orient Rug Gallery is a warm and welcoming customer service experience. Joshua, his wife Natalie and his brother Joseph have a modern yet old-world charm that is genuine and delightful. Their expertise comes from generations of rug experts and they are happy to share their knowledge.J & Js rugs are breathtakingly beautiful, the variety is great, and this combination makes browsing this Alladins cave almost intoxicating.I comparison shop and research oriental rugs but there are other reasons, as a result of two experiences that Ive had, that has made me especially confident to do business with J & J.First, while comparison shopping at a small rug shop not far from J & J I mentioned to those merchants that I was browsing different Persian and oriental rug stores and they immediately told me that J & J was not good, and had bad merchandise.  This was amazing because at first glance it was they who could not hold a candle in manners or goods to J & J.But heres the thing, when I revisited J & J and mentioned this comment by their competitor, J & J did not counter. Not one bad word. That was very admirable and decent.Second, and better yet, while I was again comparison shopping at another huge Persian and oriental rug store I said to the owner, (as I was fishing for information), My goodness, your prices make me wonder if I didnt overpay for my Tabriz rug.  He asked me where I had bought it, and I said from J & J, never mentioning Joshuas name.  And to this, the owner replied, J & J, thats Joshua. If you bought a rug from Joshua you got a very good rug at a very good price.  Joshuas a good man.  This testimony of respect was very telling.I bought my first 3 quality rugs from J & J Oriental Rug Gallery about 8 months ago. One rug is 6x9 and the other two are 5x3.  Last month I bought another that is 8x10. The thrill I feel each time I see these beauties, in addition to the certainty of authenticity, gives me so much gratification.And I cant say enough about the value. It is terrific. I wish I had learned long ago about the extraordinary worth of fine handmade rugs and how with time they increase in value.The value of most things we buy either disappears immediately or depreciates with time, but a handmade rug is an investment.  And buying these treasures especially from J & J Orient Rug youll go home with something of greater value than the amount you spent.  I know that sounds crazy, but its true.In addition to online research regarding Persian and oriental rugs, I acquired secondhand books on this subject.   With this help, Ive learned that a Persian or oriental handmade rug has, besides obvious incomparable beauty, much greater durability than machine-made rugs. A machine-made rug or carpet will cost less initially but after 10 years of family life you are left with nothing, but after 10 years a true oriental handmade rug could be sold at a profit.  Ive already sold one and then upgraded. Btw, I also happily purchased a beautiful secondhand rug.My rugs from J & J Oriental Rug Gallery are beautiful pieces of art and exciting to own.  Joshua, Joseph, and Natalie are warm, friendly and a pleasure to do business with.
