I am so grateful to find this place. The owners are so friendly, honest, and really do their best. You can tell they genuinely care which is a rare find. Ive brought my car here three times (reg service, flat tire, and to add some additional front lighting) in the last few months and each time I never felt like I was being taken advantage of. The repairs/options were explained well and Don was honest to tell me his recommendations all of which saved me hundreds of dollars and time. This is the only place I will do business with in regards to my vehicle. They definitely deserve your business as well. I have no doubt you will be well taken care of as well.

Choosing whos going to fix your Mercedes is terrifying. These guys not only have done a great job helping fix my vehicles but also have the highest level of integrity. They have saved me over $8,000 on a single repair and are the only ones I trust. I have not only had my vehicles fixed and maintained by them but I purchased a vehicle from them and have been extremely satisfied. They are the only reason Im willing to drive a used mercedes.

I have never met a more accommodating and genuinely caring person like Don. I have a christine (80s movie must see) 1991 Mercedes 300TE 4matic that has a mind of her own and may try to love you one day and kill you another day. Don took his time looking at it and got to know the car and to this day, just the mere mention of Christine sends Don in a shiver, cold sweat, and nervous mumbling that is indecipherable. Neighboring businesses have seen him working on Christine one very late night and just as soon as he was trying to call it a night, they heard Christine start up and corner him in the back of the shop. When asked about what happened next, (we needed a stuffed bear cause Don would not speak, )his trembling fingers were able to show us what happened via pointing. 🐻👈🦵👇 On a happier note, he put a transmission mount on my S550, same day service, at a cost to write home about.

Don Allen Service Center replaced a malfunctioning automatic window harness on our low-mileage 2003 Volvo C70 convertible - a hard-to-find and somewhat expensive part. Mr. Allen was apologetic about the expense of the part, but ensured that the fit and performance of the replacement was as it should be. They also noticed a malfunctioning auto door lock and generously offered to replace that part with no additional labor charge at a time convenient to us. Grateful for their professional and attentive work.

Highly recommended. I trust them implicitly, which isn’t something you hear about most auto repair shops. We’ve had great experience with these guys. They’ve nursed our 15 year-old, 230k+ mile Prius and kept it alive and running without unnecessary or expensive repairs. They’ve also made repairs to our newer Toyota for substantially less than the dealer wanted.

Hands down the best auto service in Alexandria! If you own a Mercedes or BMW, take it here before the dealership. Ive done business with them for years and have never once been disappointed. They specialize in Mercedes, but theyve done great work on my old E36 M3.Just wanted to add, that I picked up a used AMG C63. It had a very hard to diagnose electrical problem that no one could figure out apparently! I took it to Don Allen SC and they narrowed it down to a bad computer/ECM. They fixed it perfectly and for a reasonable cost! They have the specialized equipment needed to program ECMs for Mercedes and the skill to troubleshoot obscure problems.To top it off, they are just nice people to deal with. Being able to have my car serviced here is one of the reasons I bought a Mercedes; I knew Id be in good hands! An A+++ local business!

Don is a great guy that provides excellent service. He has serviced four of our cars over the years, including three that we purchased from him. He is always fair and honest with his pricing. We have never been surprised with a bill that was higher than expected or had to take cars back repeatedly to fix a problem. Everything is fixed the first time for no more than the amount that he quotes. His used cars have always been great values and he has always fixed the few, small things that have popped up. I would not use anyone else of repairs or service and he is always my first choice for a used Mercedes.

Another happy customer. 2006 Volvo S40. I knew a lot had to be done on my car from a dealer assessment earlier this year. But true to Volvo service centers, they listed any possible item including listing my floor mat not being there at the moment as a safety hazard. Don Allen lived up to its reputation. Don and his sister feel like honest, kind people looking to run a family business well. I enjoy them, they both are knowledgeable and engaging about my car, estimate with caution, and as best I can tell having just picked up my car, did a good job. Don agreed with most dealer assessments and came in a bit lower, and also questioned why they told me some other things needed doing. I feel good about my experience, which is saying something for me with car repairs. Character and quality both matter, and they have both. Worth making them your mechanic, in my experience.

Don is the best and most honest mechanic you can find. I brought my 2004 Volvo and it has been the best experience. He will take care of you without ever putting his profit first, he will give you his honest advice on what your car needs or doesn’t need.

We started coming to Don Allen Servicecenter when Don Sr. ran the place. It is now in the hands of his son Don Jr. and he is living up to his fathers awesome legacy. He took care of our old Volvo for several years. He is as honest as they come in this business. We finally got rid of our old car, but I highly recommend Don if you have a Volvo, Mercedes, or BMW. He and his team are top notch.

Ive been using them every since my warranty has expired and Ive been extremely happy with the professionalism, honesty and detailed service on my vehicle.Call and make an appointment for your vehicle and they will let you know the truth about what you need without breaking the bank. Don Jr. is the best thing for my vehicle and Im stamping my approval to use his services for your Mercedes Benz. If you are under warranty they will let you know and fix it right without all the hassle of a dealer. I dropped my car off for service and he called me within two hours completing the service. The dealer would have my car all day and didnt complete the work because of parts or they found something. Hey, save time and money using Don Allen! These people are honest, no drama, and very knowledgeable. Its like having a great family doctor. Don, the son who took over the business, when his father passed away (sadlly), is always there to help you in an emergency. I have called when I had trouble with my MB C240 and he always gives me good advice to get me on my way without even coming in. I always bring my car in to their shop for regularly required maintenance and they are very honest. Best repair shop ever!

I brought two Mercedes here (an ML500 and an E350) for repairs and maintenance for six years, after getting a referral from a retired Marine officer. I sought the referral after the nearby Brand W shop wanted $2,000 in repairs before the ML500 would pass inspection. Don Allen passed the car without repairs, and thereafter would steer me away from expensive repairs that werent really necessary.An earlier reviewer said it the way I wanted to say it...imagine a family member in the auto repair business. If you have an aging Mercedes or BMW, there is no better partner to keep your car on the road. Be sure to check out the wall with all of the military officers who brought their cars here!

I have been taking several Mercedes to Don Allens for 30+ years. All the people there (starting with Don Jr.) are of the utmost honesty, professionalism and expertise. And be assured the charges for their superb service are much more reasonable than the MB dealers. Just check out his many stellar reviews on Yelp and take your German or Swedish car to Don Allens when you need service. Five stars are not enough for Don Allen Servicecenter !!!

I’d give more stars if I could. I’ve never seen better customer service. Thought this was going to end up being an expensive repair on a 13 year old Volvo, but Don knew a trick that saved me a lot of $$. My wife was blown away by his honest helpfulness. He has all my business from here on out!

Don Allens is about customer service from start to finish. Had the car in for and oil change, air filter and cabin air filter replacement, a general check-up and detail. Excellent communication throughout the entire process with Don personally calling me to check if I wanted to replace my windshield wipers at additional cost since we didnt discuss that initially - BUT the wipers had been making a lot of noise before, so obviously the guys at Don Allens did a great job looking over the car to make sure nothing else is out of place. They do specialize in BMW so I completely trust their sign-off on the car being in good shape. Car was ready to go on time and as discussed, and I believe the cost of service was more than reasonable given the make of the car. Definitely going back.

One of the few good things about living in the DC area for three years has been the discovery of the honest, forthright, expert, and colorful Don Allen. I had been gouged and snookered by independent gas stations and Toyota dealer alike until I found Don Allen. The most essential thing: he will NEVER do more for your car than what is needed. In fact he rejected the maintenance I had assumed was needed due to the passage of time and explained that mileage is the true barometer. And that changing the cabin air filter every few thousand miles, as dealer mandated, was a crock. Highly indicative is that Don Allen is that rare breed of successful businessman who deliberately keeps his business down-sized: he doesnt service every brand of car (though he could) and he sells used vehicles only on request. It should be noted that since the death of Don Allen a few years ago, the same qualities mentioned above have prevailed under the stewardship of his sin, Don Allen Jr.

Got a 2010 C300 4MATIC in Dec. 2015. Have taken it to the dealer in Alexandria a few times for routine service and minor issues and had amazing service and free loaners. But... lets be honest... the dealer is CRAZY pricey. On the recommendation of a friend (who has an SLK) tried out Don Allens last week. Dealer quote for an AC recharge $250-$350 depending on how low the AC was. Don Allen quote No more than $150. Actual time to complete job 20 minutes, no waiting at all. Actual price $85. AC blowing colddddd. :D My days at the dealer are over. Also the owner is totally chill which is also a plus.

Don Allen was recommended to us through someone in our HOA. We decided to try it out to save money when compared to going to the dealer for service. We stuck with Don Allen for ~2 years but in the end came away offended and ultimately dissatisfied. It always seemed like when we brought our car in, 1-2 weeks later another sound would start up and wed have to bring it back. We wrote it off to it being an old car (10-12 years old during the time we used Dons garage). But, two service experiences stand out in my mind as larger red flags, with the 2nd being simply unforgivable:(1) A headlight in our Prius went out the evening before a long business trip. I called Don Allen to see if they could fix it *that morning* and they said yes. However, they didnt know ahead of time (and neither did I) that replacing these special headlights not only required very pricey new lamps (fine with me) but also required the front bumper to be removed. They didnt have the headlight and didnt know about the bumper. I never wouldve wasted my time there had I know they couldnt do it quickly (which I had impressed upon them that I needed). I had to leave on my business trip without getting a new headlight (and dangerously lost the other one on my trip back too). I wish Don Allen wouldve been respectful of the urgency of this issue and declined the work, perhaps recommending a dealer as the faster place for specialized parts. After all, they should be domain experts.(2) Our big initial decision to go with Don Allen was to replace the breaks on a 2000 Acura Integra. The price seemed right. However, in just over 2 years since these breaks, weve needed major break and rotor repair. In May/June 2012 Another independent garage told us it was due to the breaks put on the car (they took a look at the brake sounds when doing a yearly VA inspection for us). We decided that Don Allen knew our car the best and I called him with this information. I had a most shocking and offensive phone call with Don Allen telling me (a) obviously I didnt trust him (when I asked questions about what another garage told me!?) (b) that he flat out wouldnt work on our car anymore. No explanation. Just flat out refusal.In my mind, that sealed the deal and weve not been back since, never plan to go back, and hope others will heed the warning too. When a garage wont even confidently stand by their work and work with the customer, that sends up major red flags in my book.I wont miss the office either (where I once had to wait for my car) - the constant streams of cigarette smoke from Don Allen smoking in the office was nearly overwhelming. Good riddance, Don Allen.
