This is an ANTIQUATED building with POOR LIGHTING, at this Commissary youre required to tap on the keypad 3 or 4 times before youre handed your receipt. SmhREASONABLY priced items, not enough customer service check out agents available.

This commissary looks super-old and many of the shelves aren’t fully stocked. The prices aren’t better than Walmart or Costco. The staff was helpful though.

The produce department needs serious attention, I have gotten home and my produce has mold that wasnt visible at purchasing. Every time I shop there, there is something else they have stopped carrying. It has become more of a hassle to shop there than anything else, its stops being convenient when there isnt much in stock. The meat and bread department is great and always has a good stock. They also advertise REWARDS, however, when registering for this service the MY STORE section did not even have the option for any of the commissaries out west and zero in New Mexico. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I have never shopped at a commissary that was not up to scratch minus this one.

Ive been to several commissaries in my time and this is no better or worse than others. Love the meat selection and quality here and the bakery and deli are the best.Lots of employees standing around and finding a checker who will ring you up can be somewhat of a challenge. Most are friendly. :)

Empty shelves in just about every department except bread and meat. Frozen food sections look like the store is about to go out of business. I shopped yesterday and noticed very few customers. By the way food shelves in local supermarkets are all full. They are completely recovered from the initial COVID crisis. Frustrating there is no explanation offered by the commissary.I have shopped in many dozen commissary and, by far, this is the worst.

KAFB Commissary was doing a great job for the retired part of the AF family, until 24 Mar 20, when Col David S Miller, issued an irresponsible order to prevent retirees from using the Commissary. So, in the time of greatest need, he has abandoned the most vulnerable part of the family, and separated them from their food source. This is heartless to say the least, and a breach of contract that risks the health and well-being of our most vulnerable citizens, to say the most. Elderly retirees, who are facing financial hardship are forced to look for more expensive options, and to shop, in stores that are unfamiliar to them. So, instead of a 30 min exposure, they have to spend hours trying to find what they need, increasing their risk from the virus. Col Miller says this is to protect the mission. How does this do that? Retirees are not prevented from entering the Base, so it is not limiting exposure to the virus, it is just a cruel act of age discrimination, that serves no purpose. Thousands of civilian and military personnel enter and exit the installation daily. Excluding retirees from the commissary does nothing but hurt them, in this time when we should be protecting them.

It was great. The young lady in the deli that took care of us at about 1030 this morning was fantastic. Sorry I did not get her name. She was very polite, courteous and customer oriented. Also the lady who checked my son and I was exceptional. What a pleasure to shop in such a customer oriented commissary 😍

Love shopping here; great selection and prices. I really like when I need some specialty ethnic items because I know Ill find them here. Cant beat the meat selection either.

Review №14

This place is great however, if your after produce/fresh produce, they don’t have as much as you would find at Kroger or spouts. They also don’t have much for “ethnic” food options. For your basic needs it’s great. If however you want more refined recipes or ingredients look elsewhere.

Jo
Review №15

Its very convenient if you live on base but if you want to get all of your grocery shopping done here its not always possible. Because of the high amount of retirees and vets who shop here they often run out of stock on different goods forcing people who live on base to shop elsewhere. It can also be a pain to checkout since they will spam the self checkout line with more groceries than the recommended amount for checkout. Its not bad here by any means and usually has what you need and the staff is friendly, but it can be more of a hassle at times to shop here.

Kr
Review №16

Always great prices but its a bummer that the produce isnt always fresh or lasts very long. It would be nice if they had unlimited self checkout system with a belt like most commissaries. According to the website and news regular lines are supposed to have a self-bag line for those that want to do regular checkout and bag their own items but I havent seen one here so far. Dont get me wrong, I understand baggers work for tips, but personally, I prefer to bag my own groceries and put it in my car myself. Self checkouts have 2 registers for 15 items or less and 2 registers for 30 items or less. Clean. Items are usually stocked (with the exception of the holiday season).

Mostly, disappointed about the waste of paper bags used for so few items. With that being said, this commissary does offer a good selection of fresh meats, frozen and packaged items. Boars Head products is a plus and the delis chicken salad is the best Ive had. Very accommodating employees as well.

Typical commissary. The fresh fruits and vegetables are pretty good. Meats can be hit or miss. Prices are much better than civilian grocery stores, even with the standard surcharge that the commissary adds.If you go looking for drinks and chips, you wont find them in the main portion of the store. They are at the far side, beyond the frozen food section.

This commissary has a nice selection of foods and household items! Prices are typically quite good. Their produce could be a bit fresher, but they generally have a decent variety. Also a decent selection of imported foods, as is typical at a commissary. They have quite a few natural food and personal care items that we might otherwise buy at Sprouts or La Montanita, which is nice. Great selection of frozen foods. Happy to have the privilege of shopping here. I definitely notice the price break when I get to the register thinking I have gone overboard : )

Ive been going to it since the 1960s. Several new ones were built through the years. Its clean with a friendly staff. The produce, dairy, and meat departments have a nice selection of meats at what is a reasonable price. Checkout is usually fairly quick, and it has a handicap-elder register with seating for the frail. Its usually open on holidays.

The commissary is a quick, inexpensive place to get good groceries, except produce. Their meat and shelf items are good quality and almost always best everyones prices. Their vegetables need a serious upgrade, but I will keep going elsewhere for that. Sad that they have such a huge area for sugary snacks and drinks but their healthy vegetables are lacking. No wonder many military have a problem with their waistline standards.

You have to be military or a retiree to shop here; if youre buying brand name items, the prices are good. Not a lot of store brands to choose from, though, so if its something youd buy a generic of (aspirin or whatever), it can be cheaper to go to Target or a grocery. The meat prices are MUCH better than regular grocery stores. However, the produce is about the same price as off-base, and the quality is sometimes low.

Overall 99.9% of the staff is EXTREMELY FRIENDLY & HELPFUL, but I must comment on the short, stout, dark haired, olive-complected woman with a Middle Eastern accent working 25 Aug 2016, at or about 9:30a.m. She has got to be the most sullen, unhappy, hostile excuse for a human being I have run into outside of NYC where you find them in abundance. She can sure use some classes on anger management, common courtesy, and just plain old fashioned manners! Hates to be interrupted with a question when she is busy chatting with a younger woman cashier also assigned to work that day/morning, but who unlike the rude crone, did not have any customers on her line.

Grocery store for active duty and retired military, soon to be opened to all veterans. Commissaries are really not cheaper than most groceries, and you have to pay a ten percent surcharge. Like any store you can find bargains, but over all its like most stores. Youre expected to tip the baggers because they work for tips only. I believe that the prices should be a lot lower, given that it was set up for those in the service.
