UPDATE: We started our garden shortly after we got our soil. Our veggies sprouted but then they turned yellow and died. Tried again and the same thing happened. We started a few seeds in our flower garden (not Barelas soil) to see what would happen and they are doing very well. I know now that the soil is bad. It also packs down very hard. I am guessing there is a lot of clay in it, and it is very sandy. Is this soil tested? How can I fix this? Sadly disappointed.I am still sticking with this part of the review: Wonderful customer service. Ordered a cubic yard at a time and I definitely got more than that. I was able to make 2 trips instead of 3. Thank you so much! Cant wait to see what what we can grow!
I had the pleasure of receiving a delivery of wood by a lovely gentleman by the name of Mike W. He is absolutely a wonderful asset to this company. So friendly and professional. I couldnt be happier by his services! I highly recommend you purchase your firewood from here and ask for Mike! You wont regret it! I will definitely be purchasing from here only and requesting him!
Office staff very friendly and helpful.Well definitely be back!!!
Mixed soil is NOT appropriate for gardening. I had the soil analyzed by a lab and heres a sample of the numbers:Phosphorus ... desired level 174 ... this soil 4240Potassium ... desired 167 ... actual 5776Calcium ... desired 3000 .... actual 4339pH ... desired 6.5 ... actual 9.7!!!!
From my initial call with Carolyn (super nice and friendly) to delivery of our mixed cord of firewood, was a very easy and pleasant experience! Barelas Landscaping may very well be our future go to, from here on out for our firewood needs. We’ll require some landscaping work in the future, it looks like we’ll turn to Barelas Landscaping for that too! Very impressed and pleased with their firewood price!
Driver put my order exactly where I asked and the delivery was handled at exactly the time they had told me. Will likely be ordering from here again in the future!
I got a delivery of walk-on mulch from Barelas for my front yard landscaping this year. They were helpful on the phone in figuring out which type of mulch would be best and how much I needed, the delivery guy was on time, and the mulch is really nice and looks even better than Id expected. I will definitely be using them again for my next projects!
This is my second time coming here. Easy transactions, good prices and the people have a smile, like theyre actually happy to see me. Ill keep coming back.
These people a Lame when it comes to customer service .Lame!
I purchased a cord of mixed firewood from Barela landscaping. We experienced great services-very fast! And they have friendly employees. The only things I had issue with were: The fire wood is supposed to be seasoned, but I don’t think they stack the wood, so I have a lot of wood the tests at over 20% moisture content. The other thing is that all of the wood is covered in dirt and manure, so it stinks up the living room when I bring it in to burn for the night. My family and I wish they properly stored it as firewood-away from the manure. On the other hand, it was cheap and they supplied a fat cord, which made it worth it.
We grow produce and sell it at our growers market. We require a lot from our soil and take good care of it. The cow manure compost was perfect, not hot, fully broken down ready to go. It is half the price of the more trendy supplier down the street and of much much higher quality. This family run business was kind, professional and prompt.
We purchased a load of topsoil and a load of walk-on mulch last summer and meant to write a review, but forgot. I had a beautiful garden thanks to the quality products. The service at the office was knowledgeable, helpful, and super friendly. The delivery driver was prompt (actually early, unheard of!) and friendly as well. All around a really positive experience working with them and we will be repeat customers!
Barela had the best price in town on compost, and they were recommended by my local nursery. I ordered 12 CY and they delivered at least that much the very same day for a fair delivery fee. I was VERY pleased with their product. Not one single weed has sprouted from it in a month, and my garden is happy, happy, happy. Ive recommended them to all of my friends.
Very happy with Barelas. I needed to raise my garden beds and purchased the topsoil. Nice product. They are generous with theircubic yard measurement. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Best materials with friendly service. Been going to Barelas for years.
For the last two seasons, we have used two other (major) firewood suppliers in Albuquerque. Both did not provide a full cord, though they did redeliver the expected amount to make up a cord. ( A bit of a hassle) This year we tried Barela. Their price was significantly better and they absolutely provided a full cord - first try! The firewood had about 40% small cuts which could be appreciated by wood stove owners, but makes stacking more challenging and time consuming. However, the wood quality is fine and burns very well. Additionally, they are very nice and professional on the phone. I look forward to using Barela again.
Super friendly and helpful staff. Really great prices and quality material! Will definitely return and recommend!
Went by to buy premium wood mulch and cant say how impressed I am with their kindness, flexibility, and accommodations. WOW--theyre the best!
Normally I dont like to give bad reviews, but this time it cost me an enormous amount of money by using Barelas Compost/Manure and I felt it was important buyers out there are extremely cautious prior to using their materials. I should have been more cautious, but I have been using both the compost/manure and the top-soil from Barelas for over 10 years and have been fairly happy with how great their product has been at an affordable price. I dont know exactly what happened with the last shipment, but Ive decided not to use the companys materials again simply because I felt they didnt trust my judgment in what I received and ignored my observations when I initially called them to let them know something was different and off with my order.I do really like the staff. They have always been incredibly friendly and it is painful to write this review. My last delivery of 5 yards of the manure arrived and was dumped in a pile. I noticed immediately something was different and called the company within 5 minutes to let them know this wasnt the product I normally get. They assured me it was and that they just got a new shipment of materials in the day before. Rather than complain and make a fuss, I decided to use it sense it was already sitting on my property and Ive never gotten bad material from them.I used this particular order for vegetable gardening and it was absolutely horrible. The weeds it brought into my property were through the roof. I know it was the material because I use black silage tarp to suppress weeds and in the areas that I used the material I have a jungle of weeds. In areas I did not use the material the weeds are native grasses and and sporadic weeds here and there. Its night and day obvious.I personally think the material wasnt composted completely, and truthfully, I dont think it had a whole lot of nutritious compost material. I spent weeks taking out weeds in areas I had put this stuff down and I will probably be working the weed seed out for a couple of years now.Additionally, normally their compost/manure is smooth and incredible to plant seeds into it (after mixing with existing dirt), but there was so much mulch seeds didnt germinate.Plants that did seem to make their way up didnt seem to be as healthy as I would have expected.I totally was let down by this material and finally put roughly a remaining 2 yards in different areas of the yard and covered heavily with mulch just to get rid of it.In the end, I lost a lot of money. $300 dollars I paid for the stuff. The weeks I spent sowing in areas where I used the stuff were all lost: Time, Vegetables, Seeds, and the produce I should have harvested in the areas. Everything had to be started over.I take great pride in providing quality vegetables and products and this product by far did not meet the mark. The company could have been honest with me when I called them. They could have offered to make it right and listen to my concern. I knew it wasnt what I normally get and they ignored my voice. Im sure they deal with a lot of people on a daily basis and were only a small time farm, but I really do wish they would have heard my concern when I called.I still believe they are an incredible company and have the warmest staff, but unfortunately we got burned on this one.By all means, use them, but ensure you know what youre getting prior to getting it. I believe they still provide quality material at affordable prices, and again they are one of the friendliest staffs around, but something went wrong on my order and we cant afford confusions like this.
Family owned and family is what you end up feeling like.
