Replaced my timing belt, looked over the vehicle and gave me 2nd opinion on Dealer recommended repairs. Got the work done for under the Dealer’s estimated cost. As someone who doesnt know much about cars, it was really important for me to do a lot of research to find a shop thats honest and professional. IVS was that and more. Since the pandemic, Ive spent more time also researching businesses that care about their employees. Its clear the people who work there are not only kind but also genuinely enjoy working there. From the front office to the people driving the shuttles to technicians, everyone was extremely helpful. I tried to use this business. My appointment was at 9 oclock Am. I showed up at 8:45. Was told that the mechanic that specializes in BMWs was busy until about 10:30. Good thing I know downtown Albuquerque, because I walked the streets from 9 oclock until 12:45. I would like to give a shout out to Rio Bravo Brewery on 2nd street and I-40. Got back to IVS, they havent touched my car in 4 hours. No phone calls, no text messages. I want to go on record to say after I posted this review, I received a phone call from Daniel. They picked up my car in Rio Rancho, didnt charge me for the initial inspection few and performed the work that was needed on my BMW. I would recommend Independent Vehicle Service to anyone who needs work performed on their BMW.

I will never take any car of mine anywhere else other than IVS!! The mechanics are friendly, detailed and experts. Michael worked on my S-60 and I had already known what was wrong with it and the expected cost of repairs. After a proper diagnosis, he had all of what I knew was wrong with it and had found several very important new issues with the suspension and IVS could’ve fixed all of it for half what I expected. Don’t take your car anywhere else.

This was my 1st time use for a 2007 Toyota RAV4 where the check engine light came on. They ran the diagnostics promptly and found a small oil leak which they put a tracer dye into the oil which displays with UV light. Very impressive and affordable.

I had my 1985 mr2 sitting for about 7 months. Did a lot of what I thought was the problem no dice. They not only figured it out they fixed it in 5 days!!! Great fast reliable service

The staff is always friendly and professional. They have performed two emissions tests on two different vehicles for me. I will definitely use them in the future for other services.

They stayed in contact with me the whole time and were very fast. Their detailed notes and pictures that they provide access to while your car is in the shop are very helpful and show you that they are NOT scamming you and replacing things that don’t need to be replaced. They are on the more pricey side of repairs but my truck so far has been running very well and all the problems I was experiencing seem to have been fixed.

I have been taking my Toyota Priuses to IVS for many years now and they never disappoint. Service is done promptly, efficiently, and well, not to mention that everyone is always nice and the shuttle service very helpful. I wouldnt consider going anywhere else in Albuquerque. They have been able to diagnose and fix every problem my Priuses have thrown at them, and with one a 220,000 mile car, there have been a few.

I own both a foreign and domestic vehicles and this is my preferred service garage. Highly professional and reliable. Equal or better quality than dealer and much better price. They know what they are doing, and no funny business here. Pro 100%

If you feel as passionately about your car as I feel about my 1984 Volvo (Stella) then you really need to bring your ride to the friendly people at Independent Vehicle Service.Whether its the solenoid of your overdrive that needs to be replaced, or that wiring harness you bought on Ebay for $75 on Superbowl Sunday that needs to be installed, or even that wining differential that is driving you crazy, IVS is always up to the task.Just last week IVS brought my A/C back to life, after tracking down a rare part for it from Sweden! Now you could use that car as a meat locker, I kid you not.But dont take my word for it, jump into your collector classic and introduce yourself to the boys at IVS, and tell them Chuck sent you!

Just picked up my 240DL from IVS after having a “no start” problem. After diagnosing some electronics and relays as the culprit, quickly worked to get her back on the road again. They returned my baby to me freshly washed and she runs smooth and starts up easy! This will be my go to shop for ABQ, and I would recommend to anyone looking for dependable honest Volvo service!

My fabulous neighborhood mechanic retired at the beginning of Covid. I was at a loss to know how to replace him. Recently, occasional tiny whiffs of raw gasoline vapors turned into an overwhelming burst of smell driving to Santa Fe. So scary, I opened everything up and drove a few minutes to my destination. Had AAA bring me and the car home on a flat bed. My neighbor is retired from my mechanic’s shop. We looked sniffed. Could sometimes smell something, but could not duplicate the strong smell. He finally suggested taking it to Independent Vehicle Service, because one of his former coworkers had moved there after the neighborhood shop closed. The guy I spoke to on the phone said he recommended having it brought there, because of the possibility of fire. That I didn’t need to come in with the car because it sounded easy to find. After a week I called to say that I was not expecting to have it there so long, could I come get my driving glasses. Michael said, sure. While you are here show our technician the smell. We can’t duplicate it. So met with Tim who it turns out was a second tech who had moved there from our neighborhood shop. I briefly described what I had experienced. Pointed to the area where I had smelled it. The car was very hot from sitting in the sun. I got a tiny whiff and pointed. I said I smell it. I said it is stronger when the car is stone cold and started. He said okay. We will lock it up in our secure building for the weekend and before one of the guys shuttles it outside on Monday, I will be the first to start it. Henry, the first guy was off that day. Monday, about an hour after they opened, got a call. Injector seals. Reasonable estimate. Will check to see whether injectors are bad, too. I said do it! Will let you know when parts are in and job is done. A couple of days later, a day sooner than I expected, I got a call, all done, no leaks, no smells. Injectors were fine. The big surprise for me with these guys? They didn’t charge a cent for all that looking. Just for cost of repair. Wow!! Awesome service every bit as good as my now closed neighborhood shop. Now they are repairing a cracked fan blade on my 1999 Ford Ranger. My old mechanic called attention to it Pre Covid, but didn’t have time for repair before retiring. Gave it the once over free multipoint inspection. Confirmed the cracked fan blade. Said the only thing they found off was a barely loose brake bleeder. Tightened that and checked fluid level. Topped it off. Free as part of inspection. How can you do better than that??! I am relieved to find someone I can trust like my old mechanic! Car so far is great. They said any questions or doubts, please call. You have a 30,000 mile 3 year warranty on the repair

They do a great job. I will not go to any other mechanics in ABQ. Probably not the cheapest but they are honest and dont add random things to repairs or oil changes. Definitely worth paying a little more.

I was told it was a 3-4 day repair... which turned into 3 weeks. Parts and labor were all overpriced compared to many shops around town. Price jumped another $400 when I picked it up with no explanation given. Was told they’d try to bring the price down to something reasonable, but that never happened. Don’t think I’ll be back.

They worked with my schedule and gave me an easy to read quote with all the needed repairs. Very friendly and helpful staff. I will be bringing my car back for more repairs soon.

Summer 2020 - IVS responded immediately to my call about the Check Engine light, got me in for the diagnostic and did the repair all within one day. They also gave me a ride home from my drop off and back to pick up my car. Great service, great attitude.January 2021 - IVS got me the best price for replacing my rear hatch lift struts, got me in for the service, gave me a lift home and then delivered the car back to my house (!) early enough in the day for me to do my errands. They even provided a free car wash! On top of their professional diagnostics and service, best of all is the staffs great attitude and kindness.

My mother-in-law has been extremely happy with her two experiences having her Volvo repaired and maintained at IVS. Knowing that she is only here temporarily from out of state, they have still gone the extra distance to assist her. She feels so fortunate to have found such a trustworthy vehicle repair shop.

IVS repairs and services my Volvo XC 70 and Infiniti coupe. They are first rate diagnosticians. Every bit as good as DLs service on my 84 Volvo turbo sedan, back in the day. I dont by new cars anymore because retired. If I were to buy a new used-car locally, Id have IVS check it out.

These guys were great!! I had a bad experience buying a used car from a reputable dealer. The AC didnt work right and the brakes were noisy. Shelby at the front desk was GREAT and walked me through the entire process. The team fixed my AC compressor promptly, and pointed out that the brakes were faulty and rather than take my money and try to charge me to fix the brakes, they suggested I take it back to the dealership. I was not hopeful that the dealership would fix it but turns out they admitted fault and took care of that for free. Thanks for your help, promptness, quality work, and HONESTY! AC is working great, by the way!

It would be hard to find a better auto repair shop in the desert Southwest. On a 2600 mile trip from Illinois to New Mexico my 98 Volvo V70 xc blew the rear cam seal and lost over 4 quarts of oil. Luckily the engine did not overheat or seize. Living in Albuquerque in the 80s 90s and early 2000s I had always depended on Independent Volvo. They were never disappointing in their repair quality, honesty and reasonable rates. So back to the Cross Country, I decided to flatbed it from Las Vegas N. M. to IVS. Before the end of the day they had diagnosed rear cam seal blown and faulty cam seal sensor. I needed to replace the timing belt also per my request using my OEM kit purchased at a earlier date. 6 hours later they notified me that repair was finished and ready for the 1300 mile journey home .It ran flawlessly with no issues .***** Stars. Thank You IVS.

The waiting room is not available due to covid, but there are benches and tables to sit at outside. They are polite and provide excellent service. An oil change took less than an hour.

Had an A/C issue with one of our company vehicles and brought it to IVS... these folks are awesome! Great customer service and they were able to get my vehicle in and out with same day service and that included replacing the entire compressor and servicing some leaks in the system. Price was great and A/C blows ice cold now; I highly recommend this place!

Wow is all I have to say! Went to a Volvo dealer and they tried to charge me 900$ for some maintenance on the car. Oil change, trans flush, cabin filter, and engine filter. Went to IVS the BEST customer service I have had in a long time great staff everyone greeted me as I walked in. Shelby assured me they would get my car back on the road quickly and with no hassle and it only cost me 390$ a fraction of what the other place was going to charge me! I wont take my car to anyone else!!!!

IVS really helped me out in a pinch. I was in Albuquerque on vacation and wheel bearing in our Q5 started going out on the way. I showed up without an appointment 1st thing in the morning and they said they would get me fixed up the same day. Mechanic went on a test drive with me so I could point out the issue, then back to the shop to put it on the lift and confirmed it was a bearing. This time I was in for a leak and terrified to know what major problem I had! They discovered it was only a gasket to the coolant system and the cost was minimal! Whew!!!This is the only place I trust to take care of my 2007 Audi. I’m confident that because of them she will live well into “antiquedom!!!”
