Jim Dearholt and his staff give the best service in this state. They are professional, courteous, they actually care about their customers and help them with any issues they may have. No matter if the vehicle needs a simple or major repair they offer amazing rates and don’t try to rip you off. I will never take my vehicles anywhere else ever again. Best auto mechanic I’ve ever met.
We have been going to Dearholt AutoCare for about 25 years. They have always been helpful and honest with us. They tell you what needs to be fixed, but dont pressure you. You tell them what you want fixed, they give you a cost estimate that they stick to, they warranty their work. If anything goes wrong after they are done they will fix it.
I love dearholt Auto! Thats the only place we get our cars maintained!
Trustworthy auto repair. Nice people. Weve been using Dearholt for a number of years and have never been disappointed. Prices are reasonable and, unlike some other places, they wont try to sell unnecessary services and repairs. We highly recommend Dearholt.
Fantastic experience. Dearholt helped me when the dealership refused. Work was done quickly. I had to leave my car overnight and there were no problems. Really good people.
This is the best place in town to take your vehicle. Very honest and great work. Jim is great at explaining exactly what is needed.
The Best! A great place for auto repair. Professional and friendly service . I recommend Dearholt Auto Care.
Great staff Good work Try them and see if you dont agree.
Always friendly, an they know what they are doing. They do a very good job. I would refer them to other people who needs help on there vehicle.
I have been taking my cars to Dearholt for over 10 years now. They are always polite, helpful, and honest. They inspect your car, let you know what the problem is, and what they recommend, but never pressure you to do more than you want to or need to. They are less expensive than the car dealers in town that we have gone to, and much nicer to work with. Last week I took my 2004 Toyota in for an overall inspection. They understood that it has 230,000 miles on it, and that I dont want to put a lot of money into it. They did a thorough inspection, told me their recommendations, I told them what I wanted done, and they completed it the next day. I always go to Dearholt and always recommend them to anyone needing an honest garage.
Dearholt AutoCare is fantastic, its my 1st choice for any issue I cant solve myself that comes up with my car. Hes checked cars I considered buying, which saved me from buying a car that needed a lot of upcoming repairs. And since I didnt buy those, I was still looking when one of my dream cars came up with a great deal. He even checked that one to make sure they didnt skip anything on the rebuild. And the best part is that he never charged me a cent for any of those services, since it was just a checkup with no repairs. He even just advised me that the front brakes were low, instead of trying to convince me to have them do it, since he knew Im at least that capable.Ive know Jim Dearholt for a few years, and heard great reviews from a variety of people in that time. I cant recommend him any higher, and hes my immediate recommendation when anyone I know has car issues.
Great service, reasonable price and my vehicle was repaired in a reasonable amount of time. I couldnt be happier. Thank you Kelly.
Jim and his crew at Dearholt Automotive have taken care of my vehicles for over twenty years and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is in need of automotive repair. You cannot beat the service and professionalism you get from the minute you set foot in their shop.Matthew Barnard
I had an amazing experience and everyone was very nice and respectful! Highly recommend.
Great people, honest and trustworthy!
Couldnt be happier with the service I received again today. Very professional staff and communicated with me through the whole process. Kelly is always great to deal with and makes it as painless as it can be. He quoted me the price for repairs and was exactly what he quoted for the repairs when I picked up my truck. Hats off to Kelly and his staff for a great job repairing my truck!!!!!!! Would definitely recommend Dearholt Automotive to anyone needing service work on your vehicles...
Great, honest staff. They go out of their way to help you.
I love you guys for your honesty, and very high skill levels. You under promise and over deliver every time. In this day and age, this is remarkable! The Best To You. John T Hays
Friendly and reliable
I trust Dearholt for any auto need. Their high level of integrity is hard to find these days.
Im am very happy with this company they took care of my truck and were honest the whole tIm they did a big repair in a timely manner. The only reason Im not giving 5 stars is because the front desk lady is kind of cold and I called a tow truck to have my truck towed to them and they up charged the tow. I just dont think its right to over charge someone for something they got taken care of on there own. Other then that this is a great place to go for repairs Jim is a great guy and very helpful!
Very honest and fair priced. This is the kind of shop you can send your grandma to, and know that she will be well taken care of. Would highly recommend Dearholt to anyone looking for a mechanic they can trust.
I trust the Dearholt crew to always treat me with professionalism and honesty regarding repairs to our vehicles and only perform the work that needs to be done. During my last visit, they were not successful in repairing the vibration issue on my truck the first time (only reason I did not give them a 5 rating). Rather than using a trial and error approach to troubleshooting, they referred me to one of their trusted transmission repair shops that quickly diagnosed and repaired the problem.
This high quality Auto repair shop is a gem and equaled by only a select few in the Albuquerque area . I have known this family for many years and have recommended countless people to them. I have worked with the owner in professional organizations and have always been able to depend on them to perform beyond expectations! This family owned business is a class act! Keep up the good work and I look forward to a life long friendship!
These guys are great. We took both our cars (Accord + Wrangler) in for maintenance during the past two years. Very professional, honest, and reliable. More than once they have accommodated us last minute. Sure, you are paying a few more dollars for an oil change, but its worth it to me for the level of service and getting an expert to do a once over each time you take your car in. Before they do work they give you a print out of the estimated prices and there have never been any surprises.
I was in the market for a mechanic to service our business fleet vehicles. I scheduled our delivery truck in for an oil change and asked Jimmy to provide a quote for service on the engine codes twice. Once when i scheduled the oil change, and another when talking to Jimmy while the vehicle was being serviced. We took it in at 2pm and it was not available until the next day at 10am. I received a list of what the engine codes were but never received a quote. I called the office and asked for a third time if we could get a quote, and every time i was very clear about the fact that i wanted to get a quote, and schedule service because we had out of town deliveries coming up soon. I never heard back from Jimmy or from anyone. We had to postpone deliveries because of this which cost us money. Needless to say we found a new mechanic for all of our fleet vehicles. I do not think they realize that their laziness can cause people money. It is not OK to put people off of forget to do what you promised. Dont use Dearholt. Instead try Bacas Auto. They are close by and much better. 6013 Signal Ave NE, Albuquerque, NM 87113
Good service! Highly qualified technicians and the owner Jim is really a great guy! I have had 2 different cars in the shop for different types of issues, and have been happy with my experiences!
I am a member of AAA and was referred to Dearholt AutoCare when my car broke down last week. The staff was so friendly, and the store was clean and welcoming. The staff members introduced themselves to me, offered me a drink and a snack, and made sure I had a ride coming to pick me up. The work needed on my Subaru was explained clearly and the estimates for each part of the repairs (brakes, water pump, etc.) were broken out, which I appreciated. The work was finished in a day and my car is running like a top now! I was so impressed with their service and will definitely use them again!
We take our entire fleet of vehicles to Dearholt. They are always professional, friendly, on time and on budget. Bottom line...they appreciate my business. The true show of a good company and people.
I first stopped in to ask a question one day. I was satisfied with the answer and said I would be back. Well, it was quite a while but I did return, this time for a repair.I listed some problems for them to check and they did call me back. Surprised to find out that one problem I listed was not necessary . Another one they couldnt find a problem. Now Ive been to some shady places that would have sold me a bucket of muffler bearings, but not the case here. And they didnt charge me for something they didnt fix .The real problem was identified, I was told the parts and labor charges and told them to go ahead.Repairs were done, I picked up my car and am very satisfied. My car has found its favorite repair shop. I will be back soon!
They have been taking care of my car for 5 years now. I wouldnt trust anyone else with my car.
Recently met Jim, the owner, excellent service. If you need work on your automobile, this is a man that represents integrity in his business. Your car will thank you.
Honest, reliable, good, hard work. Get your car done on time and with care.
My truck and two cars each needed a front end alignment. They checked my Buick Park Avenue and said it was in specs and no adjustment was needed. There was no charge because it was in specs and no adjusting was done. Wow I didnt expect no charge! That is their policy at Dearholt for alignments. I took my next car, a Grand Am, to them for an alignment. They checked it and said the front bearings were too worn and the tie rod ends were bad too. These parts needed to be replaced before an alignment could be done. I told them I will replace the parts and bring it back. They said no problem and once again there was no charge because checking the cars alignment is no charge. The next week I had them align my Dakota. It needed adjustment and the charge was just a hair over $100 including the tax, a good price. They completed the job quickly and did a good job. Their alignment rack is first rate and state of the art. The waiting room and shop are very clean. I have always been treated great by everyone at Dearholt. I will be taking the Grand Am to them very soon for an alignment job since I replaced the parts they suggested. I used to be an automotive mechanic for many years and I know a good shop when I see it. I highly recommend Dearholt AutoCare.
Very pleasant and wonderful to work with.
I have been doing business with Dearholt AutoCare for years. I have always found their work to be solid and their prices reasonable.
Love them. Reliable, friendly, just all around great service.
This is by far the worst company I have ever encountered!! STAY AWAY THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF!!! They quoted me $800 to START for a job I paid $150 elsewhere. I also had to pay them $100 for the diagnostics. WORST COMPANY IN THE WORLD. I was told to go to them because they were a good honest Christian company. Yeah right. This place upset me so much I am going to write a review everywhere I can! THIEVES!
The guys here are excellent! Will always come here. Took my old Oldsmobile in for a what we thought was a brake job. They called and said the brakes on the car were nee and didnt need replacing but they thought the wheel bearings might need repacking. They called later and said that wasnt needed they just tweaked them the grease that was in the wheel bearings was new. We were shocked because they said they dont do work thats not nessecary. Thats a first seriously! Midas quoted us over a 1000 for brakes on the high end. Absolutely happy with these guys! What a great group theyve earned our business ten times over!
If you want to keep your hard earned money in your account do not take your automobiles here. I had my car towed to Dearholt because I was recommended from a friend, they knew a former worker. First of all, when they diagnosed the problem of $940 for an alternator and battery, they stated that it “may” be a start to the problem for why my car had died. When I requested them to break down the numbers, it cost $410 for labor and $230 for an alternator. I’m sorry but it does not cost $300 for a battery people! In which, my battery was under warranty, so it should be COVERED until June 2014! I took it upon myself to take the battery to Auto Zone and Ta-Da the battery was perfectly fine, Auto Zone even charged it 100% just to prove it. Dearholt’s response was that their machine may be broken and thanked me for bringing it to their attention (BS). This company is shady and will cheat you out of whatever they can get away with. It’s stressful enough when our vehicles break, why take your car to a place that makes your life havoc just to make an extra dishonest buck.
Was glad I stumbled upon good ol Dearholt as I was looking for a mechanic this morning.. Although the memories are not so good.. They are a complete and total rip-off! Dealt with them about 3 years ago and they overcharged me and didnt fix anything.. Tried to scam me on unnecessary repairs.. Crooks all the way around. Clean shop and waiting area.. DO NOT JUDGE THE BOOK BY THE COVER ON THIS ONE!
Honest and trustworthy!
We have been using the Dearholt AutoCare since it was Neighborhood Autocare in 2006. It is important to us to support our local small buisiness. They are always friendly and upfront with costs. They are always willing to give us estimates and are honest about what really needs to be done for repair. Single operations may never be able to compete with larger franchises on price, but they will always have superior service. Dearholt definitely has superior service and for a small family business, does its best on price as well..Dearholt maintains our 2005 Chevy Malibu Max, 2004 Ford Truck (now sold) and 2012 Toyota Prius V.
Over priced. First, I did my research on an aftermarket Oxygen sensor and a genuine part. $79 for the part at an auto part chain. Dearholt price, a whopping $180. When asked about this, Kelly stated this was normal and also stated that all repair shops in Albuquerque do the same. Im sure they do mark-up their prices but marking up by over 200%, well, I suspect that this is Dearholt issue. The genuine Oxgen sensor was only marked 167%. They took $115 for a diagnostic and thats all they will ever get. Also, labor was quoted at $115 for each sensor because I need two replaced.Called around town, which afterwards I purchase the genuine parts for $195 each and had them installed by a reputable shop for $109.Summary:Dearholts Total Price - $855.86Other Shop - $500Moral of the story - Shop around
Honest and thorough. No weekend hours however.
Fantastic service as usual! Thank you so much!
When dealing with Dearholt, do yourself a favor and educate yourself a little bit about how shops like these use the practice of flagging hours and how they pay the techs that do the actual work. This will answer the questions as to why they seem so pricey as some of the other reviews have pointed out.we needed a retro fit kit put onto our air conditioner to upgrade it from R12 to R134.(They said they could recharge the R12 system... which is illegal) This kit takes about 1 hour to install at most and that is being completely generous. We made an appointment for Friday morning, van was dropped off at 7:30 a.m. We didnt hear anything back until 2 or 3 pm. Kelly the manager calls up and says that the ac systems condenser has a terrible leak and that it would have to be replaced... The conversation went something like thisKelly: The condenser for that unit is really hard to find and we are not able to locate one..Me: Have you tried Toyota?Kelly: Uh well umm no we havent tried Toyota yet...Me: Or how about Oreilly? They usually have parts for that van.Kelly: Well umm uhh I checked all our suppliers and no one has had one yet but let me give you a call back in a minute and see what I can find...Of course at this point he has put up more red flags then an Olympic Ski Course. I get the call back and guess what!? He has located a condenser (Its a miracle!!!) but he isnt sure it is the correct one, He assures me though that he is 90% sure that it will be the correct condenser but he wants to be paid 4 to 500 dollars up front for the part and fix the problem on Tuesday... sure pal. So after telling me that He informs me I owed them 444.oo dollars for the work they had completed up to this point. (about 4 fittings and to test the system) Of coarse I tell him that is ridicules, and to ask me for another 400 dollars up front when they have basically done nothing up to this point is completely unreasonable.Once we get down to the shop I ask him to show me the condenser leak ( I know he wont be able to show me the leak) He plays along like he is going to be able to point anything out... Its obvious he has the act down... offers to get me a flash light so I let him... once he comes back with it I say well I cant see a leak unless its under pressure.. he agrees. Then why get me a flash light? Because they are trying to set us up to pay them almost 1000.00 dollars to retro fit the ac and charge the system with R134. Kelly keeps bringing up the fact the Dearholt name is so good and he has done this for 22 years blah blah blah.. Be very concerned when these people keep using how good their name is as a selling point. Smoke and Mirrors.Lets talk about why you are overcharging by about 3 times and the work you supposedly did, I then asked for the fittings and the Receiver dryer that were removed from the van. They could not produce the parts and were closing within minutes and I had to go to work so my wife waited. As I was leaving Jimmy and Kelly were coming back from the dumpster They then tried to give her the plastic caps of the receiver dryer as the fittings Jimmy then told us that if he couldnt find the parts he would refund our money. That was Friday. We still have not received the parts and Jimmy has not returned my calls. I would suggest to anyone having a similar experience to take the next steps as we will do, contact the New Mexico attorney general and the Better Business Bureau.
After PepBoys whiffed on my appointment and said my 9:00 appointment wouldnt start until 11-ish, I went home to dig up my Val-Pak coupons. Unlike some places, Dearholts $24.99 coupon (with tire rotation) IS ACTUALLY $24.99. Theres no additional oil recycling fee or materials fee.And the place is clean!
The passenger window of my daughter’s 2004 Toyota Celica was inoperable. Dearholt Auto Service quoted $525 for the switch, $750 w/labor. We asked if they could just put the window up so it would stay, even if it remained inoperable. They quoted $270; we asked if it couldnt be done more cheaply, and finally they said that since were AAA members, they could do it for $181. When we picked the car up, we asked about finding the switch in a junk yard. They said there was high demand for that switch and it would cost at least $200. We asked for the part number to see if we could find it on the internet. They refused to give the part number. After only 3 minutes on the Internet, we found a diagram of where an over ride switch was located on the dash. That switch, we learned, was the most common cause of the nonfunction of the passenger window. We found the switch and were immediately able to operate the passenger window. We also found the cost of a new window switch (if one really was needed) was $281. A far cry from the $525 quoted. Nice profit. We returned to Dearholt Auto Service well armed with information, and Jim Dearholt, the general manager, refunded the $181 they had charged. I am filing thisreview because it seems highly unlikely they didnt know about the most common cause when a power window stopped operating. And I cant help but wonder about all the people who may have paid for some needless repair without ever knowing it was needless,.
Way over priced, horrible customer service, $200 part with labor elsewhere charged $1300, do not trust previous good reviews!!!
Misdiagnosed, overcharged, refused refund after proving misdiagnosis, rude, poor customer service, DO NOT GO HERE
Very helpful, reasonable.
DO NOT take your vehicle here!
Very professional staff
Long time customer! That says it all.
