I was helped by Manny at this location. He was very relaxed and laid back in his demeanor and made me feel very comfortable dropping my car off. He didn’t try to upsell me anything and assured me that it’s likely that the only thing my car needed was an oil change (which turned out to be true). I won’t be visiting this location again, since I’ll be moving back to California soon but I’ve already told all my colleagues and friends that live here to check this location out and ask for Manny. Thank you for your service and courtesy!

PEP BOYS = HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!when my Z3 started clanking, i took her in to Pep Boys. they promptly replaced the broken part, the drive shaft bearing, as well as recommending the likely underlying issue--busted rear shocks.after installing the shocks, there was still a little rattle because they did not come with bushings. so Pep Boys quickly procured and installed the missing part at no cost to me.now she runs smoother than ever! thanks a lot to Marvin, Manny, & the dudes.

Go anywhere else. My original experience granted them 5 stars thinking they did their job during the pandemic did it well enough. They did it BADLY I learned after 2 tows, 2 ruined days off, bungled melted wires, and eventually having a third party fix what they broke trying to replace a battery. Not a particularly difficult task. They now get 1 star and a detailed letter to their corporate office.

Tire pressure light came on due to rapidly deflating tire. Came here to get the tire patched, was told “30 mins.”After an hour and a half, they pulled the car in.After another hour they called me in to tell me I needed new tires.After 5 total hours, the new tires were on. 5 hours for two new tires…As I left, the tire pressure light came back on.I called to ask why and was met with aggression for some reason…won’t be going back.

Called to get prices on some tires and the guy who answered the phone was really rude and obviously doesnt know much about cars. They should at least learn a little about tire sizes since they are working in a tire shop. Take my business somewhere else.

I developed problems with my car on my trip home from California. When I got in town, Mike took wonderful care of me and went above and beyond to make sure my vehicle was repaired properly. I went back a few weeks later and received the same 5 star service. I will and have already recommended this specific Pep Boys to everyone that asks. No other shop was open at the time on Sunday. Needed my car working ASAP to get to work. Mike and the staff was very pleasant and made sure to thoroughly check the problem. This Pep Boys is phenomenal. My girlfriends gas tank gave out one morning! They wanted 1000 bucks! Manny was so nice, he said I could buy the part, bring it back, and they would charge me for the labor. So, I did that found the part online for 197 labor was 219 after the coupon. I saved a lot of money. Kudos to Manny and Mike I hope I got Mikes name right! They were awesome and I will always bring my car here if it needs fixing!

Went in on Fathers Day Sunday for a basic wheel alignment and brake check, however it was discovered that we needed 4x new tires and 4x new brakes for our 1998 van.. the guys here were very good at explaining and showing us on the vehicle why we needed what we did and showing us the damage that needed replacing which we appreciated. The job proved more difficult and time consuming than imagined (ended up in the shop for over 24 hours) and they did their best to get us out the door as soon as possible - even staying until 8pm on Fathers Day, 2 hours after the shop had technically closed. The issues werent resolvable over one day, however Mike and Manny were great throughout giving us updates where needed and sticking to the initial quote even when other things went wrong. We werent from town and were passing through so they even helped us find a hotel for the night while we were there waiting for the repairs. Thanks for your diligence and help, we really appreciated it.

EXCELLENT EXCELLENT customer service!!! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and felt welcome. I was even asked if I needed some assistance with my shipping needs. At which the store assistant politely helped with. Their competitor Auto Zone had never done that to me. Pep Boys knowledge of auto parts really helped. They didnt try to sell me an expensive part, but rather recommended one at a more reasonable price. Ill be going back to shop there more often now. Friendly staff!

Oil change and tires have always gone smoothly. Good sale on tires. Also needed battery for key and touch up paint. Customer service was excellent. No complaints at this location. Only negative would be Mayor Barrys ART disaster. No left turn makes it allot tougher to get to this location.

I rarely write reviews, but I had two really good experiences here, and wanted to give some good feedback. First experience, I was charged incorrectly for several parts, but I had already installed the parts, didnt have the boxes anymore, but I was able to bring in my receipt a month later and the manager (I cant remember her name, but she is awesome -super knowledgable and great customer service) was able to look it up and see how the bar code was attached to a different part. I expected trouble, but they made the process so easy. This last visit, I was told I needed a new battery by a mechanic, and they took my car in and tested the battery for free. It was in top shape, NOT at 10% capacity like my mechanic said. No charge for the service and they saved me some money. Guess where I will buy my battery when I finally need one! Thanks for the great service.

Rating 1 star. I decided to hop on over this morning and pick up a pulley remover kit as I may have needed to replace my power steering pump. The parts sales manager helped me find it very fast and friendly. As it turned out I didnt replace my power steering pulley or pump so I decided again to hop on over to pep boys and return this item as I didnt need it and only decided to keep it if I did need it only this time I was greeted by the parts sales manager again but only he wasnt so friendly this time I politely asked for a refund and he accused my of lying and trying to bring back a used part. At this point I had to raise my voice and become slightly vulgar towards the gentleman to get him to process my refund. After getting him to agree on refunding the unused item he told me never to enter the establishment again and I agreed, I just wanted my money back. I might need a moment from all this TRAUMA he made me go through just for a unused return.

Had my oil changed and new brake pads/rotors put on at this location. They did great with the brake pads/rotors but forgot to put the oil cap on! It was discovered the next time I took it there to have the oil changed because I had oil all over the engine. The mechanic told me the last person forgot to put it on. I told him that it was you!!! I was lucky nothing worse happened. This time they left the power steering fluid cap off (they werent even working on the power steering either)! The caps for both were only about $8/each to replace but you dont forget stuff like that as a mechanic. Thats pretty scary!

Last time I went, I made an appointment for an oil change; although I showed up on time, they took 1 hour and 40 minutes to get my car ready (other places usually do it in 30 minutes or less with appointments). Also, when my car was ready, I had to tell the staff so that I could pay and leave (nobody approach me to tell me my car was ready for like 10 minutes so I had to do it myself)... overall, I’ll go to other Pep Boys in town next time

Went in for alignment and the first time I was turned away and scheduled for another day. went in for the appt and had to be rescheduled. when FINALLY they took my car they did not test the steering angle and I had to go back AGAIN to get that corrected and it still does not feel 100% perfect which makes me seriously doubt the quality of the mechanics here.

I would suggest to take your business somewhere else. The mechanics do not know what they are doing I took my car to them to look at the brakes. The mechanic decided to look at my whole car without telling me and it took him almost 2 hours. I spoke to the mechanic directly. He told me not only did I need new brake pads but I also needed my rotors turned and drums resurfaced. They wanted 260.00 for that. Not only did he say my brakes needed work but he also said I needed a new radiator because it was leaking from the top....oh and not to mention a new valve cover gasket. Took it to my regular mechanic the next morning brake pads were at 65% so they were still good my rotors needed to be turned but my drums were fine. Radiator was also fine but Im wondering why pep boys mechanic decided to over tighten my oil pan bolt and poke a hole in my cv shaft seal. It wasnt leaking before I took my car to pep boys. Just dont waste your time with this place. You will get ripped off and end up spending more money to fix what there mechanics broke after they do a so called inspection on your vehicle.

Purchased a great deal on tires online from Amazon that included installation via Pep Boys ( the store we chose was 5600 Central Ave, ABQ, NM) Choose the location and time (an installation window of time), and a date. Day before we called to see what else needed to be done and then were given an appt time. Arrived early, because we were from out of town and were gotten right in and out, as someone was available to do the work before our appt time. Thanks guys, you are great!

I was stranded on I25 with my family after traveling cross country from IL. Heading to California on a Navy military move and needed a tire for my Durango. They were the only place open and that even carried my size tire. I had to drive 20 miles per hour on a donut over 32 miles to get there and the staff helped guide me to their store when i was completely lost in the middle of nowhere. The staff was outstanding! They were so fast and very kind. Mr. Patrick at the front desk was professional and curious even when I was beyond stressed out and crabby. Johnny the tech that fixed my car and replaced 4 tires, did an alignment and balance the fastest Ive ever seen! I am so great full that I came here!!! Ive been a customer of pep boys since my husband joined the navy over 12 years ago and we will continue to keep coming here. Even though this specific store isnt in our home state we know that if we come to pep boys we will be treated like family, respected and always taken care of. Online it says this place opens at 7:30. I called to verify the hours. The man who answered was rude in telling me that the doors dont unlock until 8:00a.m. so whats up with the hours showing 7:30 when in fact its 8:00? Not happy with the rudeness. Ok you open at 8. In my 40 years I have never had a worse experience with auto repair. I took my truck in because the brakes were noisy (but the truck stopped fine). $600 later and the truck barely stops at all after I took it to them, the truck is now not drivable. I will never be back to another Pep Boys. Words do not exist to express how incompetent they are.

Abysmal customer service. The guy at the front desk hardly acknowledged me at all when I walked in. Once he completed the paperwork we was working on (not putting that aside in order to help the customer in front of him), finally he spoke with me.Once I told him what I needed (timing and idle adjustment), he told me that he didnt have time to perform the repair. I arrived around 4:00PM. They close at 6:00PM on Sundays. I asked him how long the repair would take. He said an hour (though I know little about cars, an hour for an idle adjustment and timing issue seems extreme). I let him know that I would wait, but he continued with his line about not having enough time.The repair I need is required for my vehicle to pass Albuquerque emissions. Because he was unwilling to perform this repair, I will have to pay an extra charge once I am able to get it registered, since my grace period to get it registered expires on Monday. Thus, his unwillingness to do this may end up costing me quite a bit of money.A horrible experience, all around. Because the guy at the counter refused to do his job, I will never go to another Pep Boys again. Unconscionable!

I came in today to find out why my Ford Explorer kept over heating. Although they were busy Patrick(Patricio) reassured me that they would work on my vehicle as soon as possible. Pricing was reasonable and I was throughly explained what was wrong with my car. Called for a car battery quote and the Customer Service over the phone was HORRIBLE! I tried to ascertain how much the battery would be once I brought in the core. Mike did not explain how that worked and instead became noticeably irritated and even remarked I havent even added the price of the core when I asked about the pricing with the return of the core. I was firm and asked about the pricing of the battery with the core. While looking up batteries, Mike said Now Im going to have to go into a DIFFERENT screen for that, now that you ... in a progressively irritated manner. If I were a man, I doubt Mike would have had a problem answering the same question in a straightforward and even tone. It seemed that Mike had a bit of a problem having a female put questions to him in a firm and straightforward manner. I asked to speak to his manager and he put Manny on the phone. Manny (not sure if this was his real name or if he was using the name in poor taste - as one of the owners of the PepBoys chain - Manny - has been dead for years) didnt fare any better than Mike. In fact, Manny was way more chauvinistic than Mike. When I tried explaining Mikes poor attitude, he told me he had been sitting by Mike and had heard the whole thing already. Manny completely ignored my concerns and went on to ask me exactly what I had called for. I told him that if he had been sitting there listening in, he should have known the nature of the call. He answered by telling me that he didnt have to listen to me and that he was going to hang up the phone. WOW. Ill admit, I believe I ended the call by calling him a name that references a cat of a different nature. Thats how disgusted I was with the way I was treated by Mike and Manny at PepBoys at 5600 Central Avenue SE. All I wanted was a cheap car battery to get me through the week. I ended up getting WAY better Customer Service and, most likely, a better battery at a better store with men who didnt have a problem with women or gender issues. Avoid this store if you want no nonsense, professional Customer Service. But, if you like to deal with men who have issues with women - have at it.

Worst service ever. Spent $600 and they still couldnt fix the problem. They will try to take advantage of you and get as much money as possible. I took my car there on a Tuesday and they didnt look at it until Saturday. I called them several times and the first time I called was on Wednesday and I was told they hadnt looked at it because they had to put a new battery in first. I called again on that Thursday and I was told they hadnt looked at it because the technician hadnt been in that week. They knew they wouldnt be able to look at it the whole time yet they waited to tell me. I got my car back and was told the only problem was the battery. I knew this was not the case as that was my third battery in 2 months. My car had the same problem 2 days after I got it back so I took it back again and they once again replaced something that had nothing to do with the actual problem. Im still having issues with my car and I dont plan on ever going back there again.

What a great experience. Such great customer service from my preliminary phone call (with Mike), to arrival (and being helped by Mike with glasses and Manny), to getting info from the tech who looked at my car (Ismel).I came in confident that my battery needed replacing. Ismel politely showed me the results of the test, then took me out to the car and show me the connector was loose. He fixed that.Nice! The estimated time was less that originally expected, tooI had read that this place had some nice folks (they do) and the waiting area was ok (worked well for me). I will come back here

Went to get my clutch replaced a couple weeks ago... took like three days was quoted at one day $683. I go in the second day and watch as someone takes MY hammer and bangs on my under carriage for like 20 minutes not on anything specific just banging on my under armor. Finally get it and my pedal is soft as walking on butter a new noise now rattles from 1st to 3rd i took it back and had to explain to them where the bleeders for my clutxh fluid was....they basically drove it a few more miles held it for another day and told me they did the best they could. No difference in the pedal and noise remained.they said to take it to aamco get my transmission oil replaced then they will maybe see if they can do anything else another $200 or so. Upon further inspection though I found not only did they use my tools for the job but they used spare screws from my truck that didnt match or fit the boot to my shifter so it has slid off and pours heat into my cab. Even payed the extra for the warranty and they refuse to help. Do not trust these people with a cent of your cash. They basically charge you to hold your car hostage and break your things. And will definitely send you off in an unsafe vehicle.

Worst inept mechanics. Went in to determine which spark plug or coil. The diagnostic tool would not work. Why? Fuse, but the mechanic could not diagnose that. The mechanic who handles the se repairs called in. They offered for 1/2 price, $50.00, the could access the location for visual inspection. Then, the could identify which coil or plug is bad. The mechanic was not able to determine which plug or coil was bad. If I wanted my truck back, I had to pay for the service, however, there was a breach in the agreement. This service did not meet its intended purpose. Why should I pay for ineptitude? I was forced to pay. They wanted $1,600 to repair and machine it out. It was a coil and was all repaired for under $ 200. Suggestion: hire mechanics, rather than liars and thugs.Never take your investment here, as their only desire in the service department, is how much they can rip you off!

I went here because I needed new tires. Set up an appointment. When I get there, the front desk person tells me that I will have to wait an hour because the person that is supposed to work on my car isnt there. Why do they set up appointments if theyre people are not going to be there at that time? The front desk person then tells me that he also has to check if they have my tires.... when they had already told me that they did have them. I have to wait 30 minutes for him to then come tell me that they dont have my tires in stock. He then tires to sell me tires (for more money) that dont even belong on my car. Needless to say, I left and I am not going back to this terrible place.

I was having trouble with my heater not working for 2yrs, tried firestone in SF, to diagnose and fix, no good wasted $500+, they diagnosed water pump and thermostat but did not fix. This year took to pep boys from friends recommendation that this mechanic is best in town, well they diagnosed heater core for $90 fee, and fixed for $850. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! The ONLY reason I used Pep Boys was because I broke down out of town and was in a jam. Predictably, they performed a shoddy repair and charged me $750. The problem returned 1 day later. A reputable shop fixed the problem for $250 and told me Pep Boys had NOT even replaced the part. Avoid them like the plague. Dont worry Pep Boys, no need to respond with your pitiful, glad handed offer to contact your customer service for further resolution. Ive already filed a claim with Visa and will simply take you to small claims court if that doesnt work.***UPDATE***: After filing a claim with my bank and Visa, I was refunded. Id still NEVER go back, but I changed my rating from one star to two.
