Its open, although the window tinting makes it look dark. The staff are pleasant and knowledgeable and the prices are better than Walmart and of course they carry things you cant find in other stores. If your looking for Indian ingredients they got it covered.
I hope they get back to the extras when covid is over! They had a hot food area and a woman who did henna. I think they had threading and maybe massage? They are helpful and have a huge spice section.
Absolutely fantastic Indian food market. It was my first time here, and I plan to make regular visits
The salesperson was unbelievably helpful. Found a YouTube video on my phone for me on how to make a special treat. Gave me multiple spice choices. Highly recommend
Before covid, the little restaurant in the back was great.
Excellent grocery store with a great selection of items! Very friendly staff who are always eager to help. Love coming here!
One of the worst Indian stores of Albany. They have no management, no proper product description and no cleanliness. Some employee named Nourin is rude as well. She gives discounts to her relatives and charges other ones regular. Even the barcode and price tag dont work in the proper way. One item was of $5 and scanned $500 in the register. Thats not how business works. Store isnt clean as well, they have rats roaming in the store and dont find any solution for it. So in short, dont go there! Albany doesnt have good Indian stores. Try other Indian stores nearby Clifton Park/Latham.
They do not deserve a star!Expired products, Rude and careless attitude, have felt they price things looking at people!!!You may be shown the doors if you ask the things, they dont have!!Must avoid...
Good rice and herb/spice selection, ample desi products options in drygoods/cooler/freezers, friendly staff. Awesome Chaat, too (when their hot food counter returns post covid?)
Parivar Food and Spices is a hidden gem in Albany area. We really love the fact that it serves 2-in-1 purpose, grocery shopping and eatery at the same place. The grocery store has very neatly organized aisles, veggies are fresh (although not lot of options) and lots of options for pooja stuff and utensils too. The eatery at the back is one of our fav. We really love their dosa, idli and samosa chaat. Chai(tea) is great too. Overall this place is very nice, and organized.
I always used to go to india bazaar for all grocery which is close to this place. I thought to just check around at this place for once. NEVER going back again. Most of the packaged food has mold in them. Alot of them were expired. I think During the pandemic they were not doing good business and what was left from before is still being sold. I bought some paratha and peeled garlic. My paratha looks green and blue and garlic stinks. Dont go to them.
Off late, the store structure has changed and has probably given them an opportunity to bring all the old stock out to the shelves.. any snacks you buy from them have a disgusting stench.
I find that they are very dishonest, they tend to overcharge, so watch closely when you are at the cash register, Also be careful that you are not charged twice, as I was. I will definitely not be shopping here again
Love this place. Good variety of ingredients and helpful, friendly staff.
Great selection of snacks
Indian grocery store in Albany....will get fresh Indian vegetables, frozen food, snacks, ice creams, milk and many more
Very nice store, great selection
The place was clean. It was little dark for me. Owner should install more lights. Very few products have proper label so there was no way to know the price. Limited selection. It is also expensive than other competition.
I got a huge haul of delicious, authentic groceries for like $42. Incredible selection and very friendly staff. Muslim, Hindu, people of color, old white people—all made to feel very welcome and offered warm service. The Parivar food bar is great, meat-free, and offers at least half of their 20-odd offerings are vegan.
Very expensive. Variety is there but limited
Small little place. Well be very happy when the kitchen can reopen. Wish items in the grocery store had prices marked.
Good selection of spices and Indian groceries.
Nice place for indian spices and taste. They are closed for dine in now though
While the store itself is good quality, service of the attending staff is horrible. One feels unwelcome at the store as you pass through the billing counter. There is a lady most of the times at the counter, who rolls her eyes, as if to indicate you are are the wrong place. Stopped going to that store due such attitude. There was another guy I dont see at the store nowadays, who was very receptive and cheerful. There are other options available around capital region now.
It has very good collection of Indian groceries. Wide variety and almost everything. The food counter at the back is good too. Have tried few chat items and they were good. Chole bhature not so much.
I was pleasantly surprised to come across this market on Central Avenue. Bought a variety of Indian ingredients and spices. All at an excellent value. 3 of us enjoyed delicious samosas and pani puri in the store restaurant. Will certainly return when in the Albany area.
Great grocery (well stocked, reasonable prices) and restaurant (huge menu, well prepared). I highly recommend both! Menu has Southern and Northern Indian dishes, chat and specials served hot, deli style. Grocery had fresh, frozen and dry goods. If you love Indian food, you should know this place.
Had very bad experience with the lady at the counter. She is extremely rude to the customers. There were many incidents that leadm to avoid going to this store because of that lady, after a long tiring day from office I would definitely not go to see her rotten expressions.
One of the best Indian grocery places in the Albany area. Size of the store is small to medium but fits the need just right..Availability of a lot of items is good including some items that are rare to find in Indian stores, although may run out of some items sometimes. The small food bar at the back is decent - a good variety of north and South Indian food.
Love the little cafe they have at the back of the grocery store. They provide good variety of North and South Indian dishes along with meal options. Its a pure vegetarian cafe and the price is reasonable too. If you are looking for ambience, this is not the place but if you are looking for a casual cafe for a quick meal. The thing I like about this cafe is that food served taste like home made food. For me its home away from home.
Should update that the restaurant is not in operation during virus. Drove all the way there to find restaurant part of store is closed.
Good store and helpful people.
The food is heavenly ! Never fails to make me happy with the meals, great seasoning and spices used in all dishes. Very good restaurant
Very friendly and helpful people. Theres a good-sized selection. Worth checking out.
The first Indian store I visited in the US. A very sufficient and cozy store with competitive prices and good variety! Also has a restaurant so plus! Also, the people there are helpful, approachable and friendly. We also made friends with the cashier, whom we fondly call Bhabhiji and she is very kind to us. She makes us feel at home :)Many nice memories at this place
Way too much expensive.. they will charge 60-70% more on mentioned price.
I planned to post pictures but as soon as the food appeared in front of me all thoughts beyond eating it as soon as possible disappeared. Ive been here many times but I gotta say the kitchen was especially on fire today. We got our usual- mysore masala dosa and vada pav- plus chole bhature, and it was all phenomenal. Highly recommend eating here in pursuit of world peace.
Food is definitely good, but recently theyve been overcharging. Happened once, I figured okay its probably a mistake. It happened again and its happened to multiple people who go here as well. If you want nice chat food go to Spicy Mint during chat night.
This is perhaps the best Indian grocery store in the area. We drive an hour to get here and it’s definitely worth it. Also, the small kitchen at the back offers excellent Indian snacks. The chaats are delicious!
Their indian food is so good! As an Indian, this is one of the very few places where I found authentic Indian food, particularly their parathas! Quick service. Inexpensive. Great menu. I always go back when I crave good Indian food.
A really good indian grocery store, where you can find almost all the indian spices and vegetables. The restaurant is amazing, and they serve delicious quick food items. I love their vada paav, paav bhaaji, masala dosa and tea. Love the place overall 😊
This is the only Indian grocery store I have been to where they keep a consistent stock of the Indian soda ThumsUp, which I consider (maybe to some extent with bias) to be the tastiest and most refreshing soft drink ever made by mankind.I always buy my paneer cheese from here. The breakfast menu is good. I also really like the cardamom tea they make. Some criticism: the groceries could be more well stocked. A lot of the spices or foods might be out of date so always make sure to look for the expiry date before buying any of them.
They have a fresh food section in the back of the store. You can order any Indian delicacy from the menu and they will make it fresh for you. Reasonably priced as well.
I enjoyed the store. They have hot food as well. It is prepared in front of your eyes.
All the prepared food, produce and spices you could hope for and a hot food counter in the back.
Never had a bad experience with food but the people managing the store are terrible and have a bad attitude issue which makes you not go there. Specially the lady at the billing section is always rude and behaves as if she is doing a favor running the store. Watch out for possible price jack up which others have mentioned here as well. Noticed the cashier charging 10% more than the price mentioned in the menu.
Good Indian food available in the eatery at the back of the shop. The samosas, pav bhaaji and dosas are all good. The mini meal is a good choice for a quick vegetarian lunch. Decent prices and quick service. Also, the ginger tea is good!
Amazing dosas and parathas. If you love Indian food. It is a must to visit this place. Both South Indian and North Indian vegetarian dishes are available. You will find some yummy desserts too.
Great place to get homemade Indian food in the back of the shop. Pekoras/samosas are a must when hot. Ask for them fresh. Also, great selection of naan breads, chutneys and snack mixes/tea biscuits. For those who like ethnic Indian food, i Recommend this authentic place.
I get most of my Indian food and spices from this place. They also have a nice and clean restaurant inside with chats and meals. The people in the store are very friendly and have become good acquaintances over the years.
Love this place. Excellent food and nice grocery.
Good selection of Indian groceries. The Patanjali product was also pretty complete. Reasonable prices. Check out the eatery located in the store. Its worth a try.
Nor only do they carry an excellent collection of products, but theres an amazing counter in the back that serves ready to eat food. Theres a dining area as well.
If you buy frozen foods like paranthas, be sure to open right there and check that they are not full of fungus... health hazard! I bought two last night and I also posted pictures...
Worst place to buy vegies and other grocery. When ever i bought rotis here theyll turn fungus next day. I got overcharged once and i heard this happened with many people.Food is good sometimes and a girl from kitchen got this peculiar attitude, makes me never go visit again.
Restaurant is a rare find for fast fresh Indian veg dishes. My favorites are Idli Sambhar and Dosa.
Great place to grab groceries, spices, and a bite to eat. Love their samosas.
Everything Ive had here is amazing, every time. Its not a fancy restaurant, but its delicious and prices are reasonable. Favorites are the Gobi Manchurian & paneer 65
Good place for Indian groceries along with Indian food
You can always find the hard to find spices cheeses India based products here and they are helpful and willing to find them.only downside was sometimes you gotta check the dates on the products because it may be expired
Lots of variety and friendly staff! Naureen is very friendly and helpful. always find grocery for me from the back of the store or order for me .she also order grocery for me and my friends when orgraniz events for temple or community.she is very flexible to schedule appointment for parlor.
My favorite store! Easy parking, terrific stock and the cafe is real street food. I highly recommend the Pav Bhaji.
Such a cheap place! They charged me $1.50 for a to go box. They should have asked me for a donation! I could give them $5 for the survival of their business
Good food and not your average fare. the dining area is just a little space in the back of the store with tables scattered around. For good Indian food I would recommend this.
Good selection. Nice little restaurant at the back
Avoid it. Its scam and they charge like crazy. For e.g. I bought 10 packets of Deep Paneer paratha and they charged $46!! The cashier was rude and said price got increased. Btw, that wasnt the case as after 2 weeks I bought it from other nearby store for $2.69 each. I have heard Similar complaints from other friends too.
Best Indian Store in town. They have a small eatery too which has a really good choice of Indian snacks and chat items and their taste is a good reminder of Indian.
All in one Indian groceries. Food counters give you authentic Indian taste.
Just little look for expire date ok food. I got couple of items expired once but reaming everything is good and best place to eat Indian breakfast
Parivar is one of those great community stores where you can find a wide array of items. From kitchen utensils to snacks, spices to frozen treats, they have such a diversity of items that you are sure to find something new. Their produce section is pretty good, and is my go-to for items like Ginger when in the capital district. They have a selection of drinks and snacks if you are looking for something quick and a full service vegetarian counter in the back where you can order full meals or single items made in house. Ive tried just about everything on the menu and it is all delicious. Of particular note is their Dosa, served plain, spicy, or cheese with pickle, coconut chutney and a bowl of sambar. Any of their meals can be had to go as well, so pick some up when your near by!
Shop offers quality Indian food items such as Rice, Dal, Atta, Ghee, ready to eat items such as Muruku, Chuda, Namkeen etc. A restaurant at this place serves variety of Indian dalicacies including meals. One can buy vegetables and pooja items from this place. Service is excellent.
Very good place to buy Indian groceries.
Indian store with a restaurant in the back which is canteen style. A very good selection of North Indian, South Indian, dessert, and chaat items on the menu, food made fresh. All regular Indian supplies available in the store - dals, rice, flour, Indian specific vegetables, Indian frozen goods, as well as detergents, treats.Staff is polite too.
The Indian street food is delicious here. Good place for a quick evening snack.
Wide variety of Indian foods and spices. Also has really good restaurant in the back. Vegetarian food selection.
This place is great. Do yourself a favor and get the Swad Masala Popcorn and some food from their great little Cafe in the back.
A great place to find suitable stuff for hindus for their pujan ( worship )
One of the best Indian stores in tri-city area. Got decent restaurant in the store.
I used to love buying the food or groceries from here. Until lately I started buying frozen food that contains fungus and packaged food containing moths. The store is infested with pantry moths and is so annoying that we have to breathe them. It is suprising to me that the management doesnt take care of this infested food. As much as I love cooking Indian food, I hate to have moths in my kitchen. They are annoying and needs a lot of time and effort to get rid of them. The food here is also expired including hair oils.. so please check the dates before buying.
Hidden Gem! Must try: Chole Batura from the cafeteria
The biggest Indian grocery store in the Albany, Colony or Schenectady area. They have a lot of products, the biggest attraction is the fast food corner!
Norene is the sweetest person. I continue to go there because her service is so good
Shop your grocery and eat delicious food at same time!!
Their food is so good! Nice selection of grocery items too.
Great prices on spices and unique foods
Little kitchen behind groceries is good. .but good luck if you are buying Frozen stuff .. spoiled stuff. Careful. .
Was just waiting to catch hold of an Indian store and have something Desi. At last I spotted your store and had some medhu wadas and chai. Wonderful. Keep it up.
The quality of food has been inconsistent. The owner doesnt understand the need to listen to customers n keeps arguing each time we wanted to talk about a dish being bad/ spoilt.
Decent Indian fast and street food in the capital region for vegetarian lovers. Comparable to what duniya has to offer but duniya has more options for meat eaters.
Good indian food. However, the front counter lady is a bit rude and arrogant.
One stop Indian grocery store and has really nice vegeteranian food options for lunch and evening snacks.
Good place to buy groceries and also get a quick bite of Indian snacks.
They should improve the taste and serve food fresh and hot.
I dont because it was Friday or employees are always rude also prices dont match the prices on the website
Compare with other indian groceries in PARIVAR is quite expensive and looting money from people.Have to be very careful while purchasing few of the products are expired long back.. always check the expiry day .
So fun, brings me back to when i lived i India! Great finda from produce to frozen thalis! I have had many great chats at the snack atand in back, yum!
Great variety. And lunch at the vegetarian restaurant at the back a must!
