I went there today for lunch with a friend. It was her first time eating there and she expected the worst service & food. However it was the BEST service & food we had in all the years of eating out for our lunchtime. The staff was EXCELLENT! Food cooked to perfection, much better than all the other eateries & restaurants in the Capital District. Even though they don’t have Gravy for the French fries.

My absolute favorite diner in all of Albany so far. Reasonable prices, food was perfect, quick service. The place is clean modern and very nice atmosphere.

Worst breakfast burrito Ive ever had. Completely burnt scrambled eggs that were practically inedible (had to douse in ketchup to get down, fake bacon bits and a teeny bit of cheese thats not a burrito. Worked in the attached building for many years and give this place many chances to redeem itself but its still terrible. It also took ridiculous long to check out as the owner seemed more concerned with chatting away about politics then ringing out customers.

Amazing food!! Great prices! Service is terrific, Lucia is the best :-) will definitely come back next time we’re in Albany.

What a fantastic diner experience! My husband and I are always looking for great diners, and we found one in the Pearl St. Diner. We were visiting Albany on business for 8 days and wound up eating at the Pearl St. Diner every single morning. Lucia & Tony were so welcoming, and the food and entire experience were fantastic. Cant wait to go back and visit!

Good food but wait staff caught a little bit of a attitude about asking for a window sit and ended up at a middle of the room table the waitress said it was lunch now. Like Im a paying customer it took me I 🤔 to have the cook husband to come over and and talk to me and I gave her a really Nice tip and didnt say anything to her about it. You guys can say whatever but waitstaff customer is always right. Or at least let them think they are.

Decent food for a diner and great service. I went here for breakfast a few times and the server recognized us after the second visit. Nothing really special for food, but its fast and inexpensive. Coffee is hot and omletes are full of good ingredients. Worth a visit if youre downtown and want breakfast other than a deli or bakery.

Great diner! Walked in and was instantly eated by friendly staff. Coffee was hot and service was lightspeed. I ordered the hungry mans breakfast which consisted of three eggs, three pieces of toast, lots of bacon and home fries. Everything was delicious! Would definitely recommend this place!!

The food is delicious and the service awesome. Tony, Lucia and Ursula along with the rest of the staff treat you like family. Miss them since I have been working from home but the days I have gone to the office look foward to getting breakfast and lunch with them.

Eat there at least once a week. Food is great, and now that is warm you can eat outside. The waitress and friendly and courteous and get to know their regulars. Even the owner knows us as well and even he knows some of our standard orders, which is impressive due to the volume off business they do

Coworker and I had lunch there today. We were 2 of 3 patrons in the diner with 3 wait staff, the owner, and cooking staff. Both myself and my coworker ordered a sandwich and water. Totall came to $20.54. Once the check came we polite asked them to split the payment amongst two cards. The waitress returned with what I can only imagine to be a more tenured waitress to say they can no longer split payments on to two cards because they are charge supposedly charge a huge % fee every time they swipe a credit or debit card for transaction.My response was to please split our check then the same they would have been split had we ate at the counter rather then a booth. Both waitress then said they can not split checks either. All in all the food was mediocre and I rather not deal with an annoying diner policy makes you fight with the wait staff to pay them.By the way this all happened as the owner and his son watched from a far.

Only place to get a sit down breakfast in the downtown core outside of a couple hotels. Offers all the breakfast standards like waffles pancakes french toast and the sides. They do different specials as well. Good food, good prices, friendly staff. Nice choice to get real food when downtown.

This is a very old diner on South Pearl all the people here work and live in the same area. Theyre also light the food is great. Its Pleasant cuz its like an old-fashioned diner with old-fashioned seating and the prices are very very reasonable great food come and join us

Good for breakfast and Greek dishes. My wife had some sort of Greek salad with meat, it was tasty. I had French toast which was great. I recommend this over hotel food if you are saying in Albany.

My wife and I ate here before a concert at the Times Union Center. The food and service was very good. The menu was limited due to the time of day and the amount of customers. We have the grilled cheese sandwich and the chicken salad. Both were tasty. The restaurant was clean as were the bathrooms. If you are in downtown Albany and not looking for a bar, head here.

This is one of our favorite places in Albany. The owner always there working and he is an amazing guy. The other staff are great especially the waitress Kacie. Good food, always on point, and its served hot, fresh, and promptly.

Food is fair. Their sharing charge of $3.50 when the whole table orders meals and one person orders coffee and decides to share, not so fair. Hey, its your right as a business but when a whole table orders, youre not creating a congruent relationship. And who has to ask for water at a diner??? About the food: omelette was manhattanesquely petite, homefries diced potatoes, french toast was good as were choc chip pancakes despite being very sugary.. you felt the sugar crunching in your teeth

Wait staff wouldnt let me sit in a booth even though I was the only one in the diner. Food was okay and price was good.

I stopped in this morning on a bike and ordered 2 egg sandwiches. One was a bacon egg and cheese and one was a sausage egg and cheese. The total price for these sandwiches was over 12.00. Good tasting sandwich but definitely over priced for a single egg on each sandwich. I am a culinary institute graduate from the Hyde Park campus and ran a small cafe myself up by lake sacandaga. I know how much products cost since I ran the kitchen. Definitely over priced for what they cost to make. By the way my stand was rated at 5 stars only one bad review in 2.5 years.

Been in a few times for breakfast and lunch and never left disappointed. Staff is friendly and usually pretty busy, but they stay attentive and considerate. The kitchen is always very quick too, which is perfect for a quick bite on a short lunch or breakfast before work.Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes good, simple diner food.

I would give this a “ZERO” star if I could . I went here today to meet up with a friend. A waiter was about to seat me, when the host (I am assuming the owner), stopped him from seating me. The host insisted that I waited near the door until my friend came, and began to go into a lengthy explanation of why he couldn’t seat me, even though there were at least 10 empty tables. I came to get food, not lengthy explanations from rude people. I had a better experience across the street at Dunkin Donuts. The experience at Pearl Street Diner was much different from my only other visit, when I first moved to Albany . I would never recommend or visit this establishment again.

This diner is great for breakfast and lunch while doing business in the Albany NY Capital. Food is tasty, made to order and served hot. Workers and friendly and especially helpful to blind customers.

Went to eat there couple of times and the people are great. So kind and a great atompher yo be around. The management team is wonderful. Thank you so much for the pleasure and cant wait to go back.

The guy who took care of me was really nice and respectful but the girl who answered the phone and took my order..should not be allowed to answer phones had it not been for the fact i was doing a postmates order..she would have definitely deterred me from completing the order..real rude and disrespectful phone manners

So lets put it this way; Im a diner person. I love diners. Usually you go into a diner and they have a menu with a ridiculous amount of options and specials etc... This really shouldnt be called a diner. Is the food good? Yes, its very simple, straightforward, pretty good but the selection is subpar. The staff and owner are very friendly and that bumped my rating up a bit to be honest. I liked it but when there are other diner options a bit further away, Ill make a drive to get my diner fix elsewhere.

The food here was ok, but being gluten sensitive I could not have toast and asked if they could substitute anything for the toast, the waitress said fruit could be substituted but failed to mention that she would have to charge almost $6 additional, so it was not really a substitute for the toast and when I came back the next day to eat and mentioned it they clearly didnt care that the waitress made the mistake, I will not be back, plenty of other places to go that have better food and much better service!

Weve been to the Diner twice when staying in the area. The breakfasts we had were freshly and carefully made. Its a family run business and on our two visits we could see that many of the customers were regulars that were just like family to the operators.

Ive been on a quest to try every breakfast/brunch spot in Albany, Rensselaer, and Schenectady Counties, and while I have not been to every place yet, this is by far the worst breakfast Ive had so far. My eggs looked like they were microwaved, the order was wrong at first, the specials board didnt list prices, the menu had more typos than I could count, the silverware was either still dirty or had dried soap on it, and the coffee was only just bearable after 4 sugar packets.

Extremely slow service. Only a few tables were at the diner yet it took 35 minutes to get a Caesar salad and a Caesar wrap. When the food was delivered after we asked how much longer The server just dropped the food off no apology or anything and was rude and dismissive for the rest of our meal. The food was good which is why I gave 2 stars.

Great down-toearth comfort food, sausage was good, eggs perfectly cooked to order. Slight misunderstanding of the order but great food none-the-less. Not fancy but food was hot and came out fast. Just too bad they arent open for dinner, justy basically breakfast, brunch and lunch.

The food was decent nothing all to amazing. The specials where underwhelming and no prices where listed. The real detractor was the staff. They where very impersonal without a single hello how are you received our check before our meal was even halfway finished and had to flag the waitress down to get a refill or water after recieving the check. So overall decent unimpressive staff.
