We had the opportunity to visit Urban Aftermath Books and I couldnt be more pleased with our visit. We were greeted by the shop owner Hassan and he shared the story of the business which includes the storefront, a warehouse and online operation. The storefront is Hassans curated space and what a space it is! Surrounded by gorgeous books there is also an eclectic mix of toys, office supplies ie old staplers, and vintage vinyl.Hassan had also been building a poetry reading series that unfortunately Covid has ruined for the time being but hopefully he can start it back up later this year.I found it such a great place and Hassan is a wealth of knowledge, able to recommend a new author or book. I highly recommend stopping in and we will definitely be back!
Instant favorite place for books and other doodads like pins, records, and really cool old stuff. Hassan is very nice, inadvertently found exactly what I was looking for! What a skill to have :) the prices are the best and literally everything is in the store when it comes to good literature.Beautiful collections of hard cover Shakespeare and other classics. The back room and entrance is a heaven of back pocket sized, soft cover books of classics, my go to spots. It’s only open on Saturday at the moment but the online store is always open. That being said, if you need incentive to go into the city for a bit, this is a must stop, I know I’ll be in as much as possible:)
Tons of neat things to find in this quaint, Albany bookstore, just walk in and explore! It’s located on Hamilton Street below the old Treasure Chest thrift store. Not sure about hours so I’d call to find out. If you are looking for a unique, maybe “antique” gift, say a record, toy, painting or book, this place is for you.Unlike other thrift shops the items in this store are specially picked by the owner a smart young man, who was very knowledgeable about every item I asked about. Their specialties are books and rare collectibles mostly sold on Amazon through their warehouse, however their entire collection of items are available in the store as well. There are over 30,000 books to choose from amongst other great gift ideas for adults or kids like action figures, board games, dolls etc. They sell furniture, sculpture, local art, always a nice variety.I believe they operate Urban Aftermath more as the face of their online business which is also in Albany. This Hamilton Street location near the Capital is more of a community spot where they host poetry readings and have art displays. So if you’re doing gift shopping in the downtown Albany area visit Urban Aftermath and support small local businesses!
A gem in Center Square, this quirky and delightful bookstore and art space is a must for lovers of literature and culture.
Fantastic atmosphere.. what a fine gentlemen has’san is
Pretty much had every classic book you could think of, except the one I was looking for, of course 🙂 (Democracy in America by de Tocqueville). Pleasant, small, and, well, its small, so not a huge assortment by any means. They also had a good number of vinyl records, with a few gems here and there.
Funky little bookstore nestled in the Robinson Square neighborhood abutting the Empire State Plaza. Packed with books, vintage toys and ephemera; you never know what youre going to find and inventory is always evolving. Worth a special trip on Saturday.
What a hidden gem. My kids love this place as there are always new and unique gifts, trinkets, toys and books to choose from. They also have a nice selection of old school records ! Located next to the Corning Towers and cheesecakemachismo, excellent little spot
A beautiful book shop owned by a wonderful man. It smells like books and being in there is so nostálgic. Next time Im in Albany, I will definitely visit.
This place is an absolutely treasure chest, eclectic, mysterious hidden gems everywhere you turn. The owner is a gem as welll, very informative and charming.
Hasan has something for every one, especially Gen Xers, retro fetish millennials and our children. Books. Art. Old radios. 16 bit video games. And lots of toys. Barrels and barrels of once loved characters, and their vehicles and dream houses.
Awesome store. Has a wide variety of books and collectable items from different times. Good place to stop on a walk in center square neighborhood.
Variety is the spice of life, And this place is spicy.
I love this place! Its everything I ever dreamed of.
Guy lied to me about an order that was supposed to shipped out already. When he sent me the tracking number. He had shipped it out after I questioned him as to where the package was. Bad business person. Bad business. Dont lie to your customers. I gave them 1 star because it wont let me give him zero. Dont lie to your customers... your going to respond 3 months later. Bad service. Les to customers. I dont presume to understand 500+ books a month. But I do understand customer service since that is what I do. LIERS.
