Our car shopping journey began with a visit to the Fred Martin Superstore on Barber Rd, Barberton/Norton. We were taken around the entire inventory of used cars by David Chaboudy. He was so accommodating with guiding us to what we were looking for. When we didnt find anything he directed us to Terry Ogden at the Budget Car Mart located on Arlington St in Akron. David even called Terry alerting him that we were enroute, gave Terry an idea of what we were looking for and Terry had a vehicle waiting for us in the short 15 minute drive from Barber Rd. to Arlington St. While we still didnt find anything that day we did receive a text the very next alerting us to a possible fit. We went for a look, put a deposit down and completed the purchase of our daughters first car a day later. Yes, its a buy here, pay here place, and yes the vehicles are older with a few miles. I actually paid for my car with cash that day in full. This place happened to be the lowest price (by a long shot) on the vehicle I was looking for. They made a cash purchase super quick and painless. No upsales, with no promise. AS IS - WHERE IS is the name of the game, and thats not a bad thing. What they save on repairs (and probably inspections) they are passing on to the consumer. For someone like me, thats great. I will fix it, as long as it its worth it. Yes the vehicle I purchased needed some work, it is what it is with a place like this. Anything on a car can be fixed, and if you accept the fact its not a $30K car thats brand new under some fictitious warranty that you overpay for, then you will be happy with the purchase.The salesman was great, wasnt push and actually let me take the car out by myself for an extended time to really look it over (Im sorry I forget my sales mans name, but he was great)! For being a budget dealership it sure was a nice place, very nice showroom, and the lot was clean. Everyone was friendly and knew what to do so I could make my decision and get on with life.Seriously, bring you expectations down to a reasonable level for the vehicle you are actually buying, as far as the dealership and service in general, these guys are great and would recommend it.

I had nothing but good things to say about the service I received when I bought my vehicle. But, day one the problems started. I bought this vehicle for my daughter. She was stranded the first day she drove it. Its been downhill from there. I already have almost $3,000 in repairs, and now I have to replace the engine. The repairs will total just about what I paid for the vehicle. I get it, its an as is sale. I was told that twice. My advice, dont buy from the budget lot.

****Sadly I have an update, I will leave this original review because at the lot location, we had an awesome experience. The guys there are VERY wonderful, and helped us into a great car. The issue lies with the financing company they use here, I will update at the bottom of the review****I will be the first to admit, when we walked into Trusty Cars and credit last week, I didnt believe they would be able to help us? We are probably about the worst customers a car lot could hope for? Our credit isnt the best, and because of some recent misfortunes in life, we are a sales nightmare! But, we REALLY needed a car, our old one was threatening to kill us everywhere we drove, and was just too old, and had too much wrong with it to even think about repairs. So, despite my misgivings over past experiences with car dealerships, we decided to look around. After checking out a few other lots/cars, I contacted these guys through Facebook about a car they had up for sale. Terry there took us in, and helped us get into a new used car, with VERY good terms we could deal with! At first he showed us a Ford Focus, but Im not too keen on focuses, nothing wrong with the car he showed us probably, but I just dont like them. After Aaron the manager saw the look on my face about the Focus, he found THIS beautiful baby for us instead! It was love at first sight!! 😁😁 Once we decided on this one, they got us all set, and we drove off with her last friday! The process was easy, and Terry had broken down our paperwork and process into two days, to work around our work schedules, and now we drive this beautiful car, and dont fear for our lives everyday! Thank you SO much Trusty cars!! You guys are literally the BEST used car dealership weve ever seen! And no one can beat your terms and perks that you offer!! Thank you so much! We love our new car!*While the lot itself is amazing, we ran into HUGE problems with the financing company as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our life was RIPPED apart financially because of the lockdown, and instead of having compassion and trying to work with us, they removed our only hope to survive by repossessing our car. We learned the hard way that even if you are just a few days late you start getting harassed DAILY by phone calls from their company. They tell you there is pandemic assistance available but you have to run down some kind of paperwork to prove youre out of a job because of the pandemic. In our situation we were not able to get paperwork, because I was high risk, and decided on my own to try to protect myself by staying home from a VERY high traffic retail store where I was constantly exposed hundreds of other people. My job wanted a positive test result for an excuse, and since I could not provide one, as my doctor didnt even have tests at the time, and I was self isolating out of precaution, I could get no paper. My husband had just started a job with Amazon, and only made it to his first day, before all this happened, and with them believing him exposed because of me, he was told to stay home until further notice, so no paper for him either. So since we were unable to obtain paperwork, they proceeded to harass us on a daily basis, calling sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Then they eventually shut our car off in our driveway, and then came to repossess it. We were only a month behind on payment when they took it, and had faithfully made payment on time and in full up to this moment. They took the car in the middle of this crisis, leaving us with no way to get anywhere in the case of emergency, or to get to a grocery store to sustain us. Now that everything is reopening, we do not have a way to get out to find jobs, or get back and forth to work if we did find one.So I want to Thank you Trusty Cars and credit, you have personally destroyed us, weve been without food, without a means to get medical help, and now since we cant get to jobs, you are responsible for us going homeless next month when the rent is due and we cant pay it because we cant get to work. Thank you for desroying us

Beware, my check engine light came on in 30 miles. The mechanic said it had been reset. They registered this KIA as a Hundai which I found out at the gas station and couldnt get the gas door open and the police were called on me. Then the full tank of gas just leaked out because it has a severe gas leak and it all needs replaced. You are PREDATORS but rest assured KARMA will not forget when something befalls you, just remember your dirt

Friendly people, but I dont think I’d buy from here again. We bought a clean, nice-looking car that weve since had to put in at least $4K of repairs since purchasing. So yeah, for how expensive this area is, youll get a “budget” car, but dont expect it to be perfect and without need of repair once you buy.

I purchased a van on 11/27 and on 12/3, 6 days after the purchase, I was travelling home from work on an interstate and the rear subframe axle connecting the back tires broke in half leaving me in a dangerous situation on the shoulder of the highway.When I told Budget Car Mart about the situation regarding the vehicle they had sold me less than a week prior and of which I havent even received the title for yet, their response boiled down to if you buy a car from us and drive it off the lot and it breaks in half, you own two halves.The mechanic currently looking to salvage my vehicle informed me that the axle was infested with rust and had been previously welded and clamped to keep it in place. From my perspective, Budget Car Mart does not appear to care what vehicles they have on their lot. By their claim in my phone call to them afterward, their vehicles arent inspected and by my own experience, they dont seem to even be at a baseline of assurance that they are safe to put on the road before they are sold.In good conscience, I would go beyond not recommending this dealer to the point that I would highly advise any budget strapped buyers from going nearly anywhere else.If you do, I urge anyone to first have it inspected at a proper facility before you consider a purchase. This is something that, at least in my case, is not advertised or informed in any capacity by anyone working at Budget Car Mart but is buried in paperwork that they hastily want you to sign at purchase that leaves no time at that point to have the vehicle checked. Please be very careful and be safe.

Bought a car less from them less than a week ago. Already does not run, needs over 3000 worth of work done to it. Never once suggested to take it to a mechanic. When we called back to talk to them they were very rude about the whole situation. They should not be allowed to be in business. Especially when they dont do inspections on any vehicle they sell. Worst possible place to go buy a car.

The worst car lot I have ever dealt with. Been having problems since day one. Have a warranty that covers nothing on it. Have to have the car towed home every 3 days. Absolutely horrible. I have called and was told I had to pay to have it looked at. And was told it would be $2000 to have it fixed. So I didnt refuse to bring it in. Im on a fixed income.

Typical used car lot. Lies about vehicle, says it only needed $100 in repairs, but reality cost close to $800. I dont recommend this place at all. Called to inform salesman....was totally ignored.. stay away from this place....thanks for screwing over someone who is on disability. That was the DIY price....$160 for rotors and pads $300 for 2 calipers. Now the service traction control light keeps coming on.. I should have turned around when I was told you were owned by Fred Martin, worst car lot on the planet.

I had a horrible experience here, bought a car which I was told was unsafe to drive by a mechanic. The manager told me he would see what he could do, I left my car there until the following day and was told there was NOTHING he could do and I was treated as if I had threatened him and his staff, I say this he because brought out of the back, which look like to me the entire staff to watch him hand the car keys to the original salesman, instead of him doing it himself as if he expected something to happen with a smirk on his face. I am saddened and deeply disappointed at the treatment I received. I do realize that I bought the car as is, but you would think that in business you would want a good reputation! Im praying for you Ed because you seem pretty decent and I hope you find a better set of people to work for. ( One star is to many) but I had to rate this place

My wife and live in Columbus, Ohio we were looking to purchase a Chrysler Town and Country. We worked with Troy who was very helpful and served us well with out being shady or pushy. The van was much cleaner and in better condidtion than many of the big chain dealers vans. We were able to negotiate a great deal. We drove from Columbus to the Akron location. When we arrived the van was clean and ready. We noticed a crack on the window which was not a deal breaker but, I offered to go half on the price to repair it. Aaron the Sales Manager decided to take care of the issue for us since it was not explained to us that there was cracked windshield. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??
