Starting with Jennifer who helped me get my questions and concerns answered right away, with the help from the frontline guys who actually do the work.My 2004 Honda Pilot had over 345,000 miles before the transmission started to fail. These guys are top-notch. I brought them my car a few weeks ago and told me that there were more than a few things wrong with my transmission. They didnt perform any work on it in the end, but told me to look into recall campaigns and ask for warranty to cover repairs. Took a bit of work and a few phone calls, but I managed to get the dealership to take care of the repairs, and it saved me 750 USD in out-of-pocket expenses. Oil ended up being put in my transmission and I had no idea what I was in for...I called Waterloo Transmissions and didnt know what to expect. I was greeted very friendly and professional. Jessica was surprised that my van was still driving okay and reassured me that she would be able to get me in as soon as I can drop the van off. She answered all of my questions and even calmed me down because I was worried of my transmission going out. The next day I dropped the van off and I was greeted when I walked in but Jessica with a big friendly smile and so sweet. Anything I had questions about she answered. The inlet on the bottom of my radiator rotted causing transmission fluid and coolant to mix. I am pretty handy and replaced the radiator and drained all of the fluid I could as promptly as I could, but was unsure what was next. Did I need a full service? a flush? to give up on my car? Wasnt sure. I called Waterloo transmission expecting to have to have my car flat-bedded in for a consultation at minimum. Nope, Tom called me back and let me know exactly what I needed to do and seemed genuinely vested in the outcome of the fixes Id already made and the advice we gave me. They could have very easily gotten diagnostic fees out of me, but instead, were genuinely honest and good people, and if I EVER need any transmission work in the future, or know anyone who does, I will 150% recommend Waterloo. Having a recent transmission issue in my vehicle that I use for work. I called and spoke with somebody who very promptly got me in touch with the owner. So after going to Waterloo transmission for a second opinion it did appear that I got the same answers as the first place I went to however upon a little bit longer discussion Jim is willing to look into it a bit further and hopefully come up with a better solution than a full transmission replacement. The car still drivable so Im able to take it home and get to work tomorrow. That being said the story is to be continued as I await Jims findings. He was able to go into a better detail as to what they did find and per a little few more findings from me this may not be the end of the story. Thank you for giving your second opinion and looking into this further and looking forward to doing future business and hopefully a good outcome when this is all said and done. If I do have to go with a transmission replacement I know my vehicle will be in good hands.UPDATE: Well after going back a second time and getting my transmission computer checked and program it did not here to fix the problem I was having so unfortunately that sounds like its going to be a transmission replacement or rebuild. Although it took sometime to get the answers I was needing and money spent that did not fix the problem I was at least satisfied knowing the real issue. Now is the question of whether I want to spend the money on an 8 yr old vehicle

I have had the worse service with them, my truck has been in the shop there for over six months, they installed a transmission, then had to replace that transmission then engine light came on I had to take it back now they need to pull the transmission again to see what’s wrong. I’ve been calling weekly about my truck they don’t return phone calls but say they will, it’s been six months and it’s been an awful experience, bad communication and bad costumer service. Before my truck was there my car was there getting service and it was there for 7 months until they finally fixed what was wrong. In the course of fixing it I encountered other problems with my car, that they had to fix. I have never experienced anything like this and I’m truly disappointed and upset. Poor customer service and extremely poor communication.

Was told truck would be completed by Friday it wasnt, but I understand things happen they dont work weekends so waited till Monday. Still no truck then Tuesday they call and tried giving another excuse saying not till Wednesday because waiting on part from dealer only for me to say Ill pick part up and bring it to them. Owner went and got it but that is what should have been done on Friday. In my job I have deadlines and Im expected to do what has to be done to meet those but not here they could care less how long you wait.

Although I was unable to get the work done that was required, I have to give thanks to Tom for taking the time out to explain the issues that I was having with my car and breaking down the cost of repair and providing me with pertinent information to make he best decision. Thank you again for being honest and taking the time to educate me on the processes.

Called on a Monday to get a estimate, the lady that answered, claimed Tom will call you shortly. On Tuesday went online to get a estimate. Would receive a estimate within 24 hrs. Did this every day 4 a week and a half. Called 4 a appointment. Explained not from area. Hoping the could help. 3 locations, 50 yrs. In business.their own warehouse & repairs on property. This why I called. But still waiting for for estimate. Could call me, TEXT me, e-mail me, but still after 2 weeks. No response.

They were very informative, gave me upfront cost and asked for the ok to do the service before doing anything on my vehicle. Tom was very kind and honest. Unbelievably low price, went above and beyond for diagnosing.Took my truck in for some signs of transmission problems. Not only did Tom diagnose no apparent issues with my transmission, he went above and beyond to monitor engine faults and various other codes unrelated to the transmission which explained some of my symptoms I was experiencing. He took the extra time and effort to make sure I was satisfied with the cause of my issues. This included taking my vehicle overnight and driving it to establish a cause that was too intermittent to throw a hard engine code.All of this was done for less than it would cost to walk in the door at most other shops. My father and I have gone to Waterloo Transmission throughout the years and will continue to come back for excellent work without being taken advantage of. Thank you for all the help and guidance.

The staff here is very customer oriented, very professional and very attentive to your own individual issue. My son’s car was out of commission and I had it towed to the Arlington location. The transmission went out of my Nissan Murano. After over $300.00 in towing, it was finally at the place where I thought I was going to have it repaired at. Something fell through with that and it seemed like all hope was lost and back to square one. A friend from college told me about Waterloo and so my father reached out to them and got ahold of Jim. Jim was awesome to deal with. I had my car towed to the Akron location on a Monday and by Thursday of that same week, I got it back. I got my car back exactly four weeks to the day I broke down. I wouldn’t of been without my car for so long if I would’ve known about Waterloo Transmission before. I have had my car back a week now and it runs greats. My 19-year-old car Was slipping we took it in they figured out we needed a Ford transmission and in the process an engine mount a CV axle and also an idol or pulley they warrantee it out the CV axle on our behalf thru Advanced auto they then had it all done in a matter of three days with a three-year warranty on the transmission my 19-year-old son notices a difference so much and it’s ecstatic the owner is so calm and understanding and it was a pleasure to deal with a small local business

Had an intermittent issue causing the check engine light to come on and the vehicle to go into limp mode... This happened a couple times and I didnt get it checked out. But then a couple months later it happened twice in a week... They took it right in. Asked if they could drive it a few days to get it to happen for them with the tester attached. Long story short... transmission replaced, 100k warranty and No added charges for extra work or parts. Running Great. Having an Issue, give them a call theyre not going to gouge you. Not paid for this recommendation.

They did what the Subaru dealer could not, they had my car for 2 days and no communication. Could not even get a return call from the dealer. Waterloo Transmission were very sympathetic to our situation and worked our vehicle into their already busy schedule. I called at 8 am. The estimated time of service was pick up by 3 pm. It was ready at 12::30. Fantastic customer service, Karen stayed in contact with me through the whole process. I can’t recommend them enough! And family owned!

Brought my car in for a fluid change, it turned out that I had an extended warranty and a recall that I didn’t know about! They were really helpful explaining things to me and even still checked my car for no extra charge. They made me comfortable and it was a pleasant experience.

I purchased my vehicle form a local Ford Dealership with 53,000 miles on it and 15,000 miles later the entire transmission need replace at my cost of $4,200. With no help for the Ford Dealership, I called Waterloo Transmission, where I had the best experience, and better pricing I was told by Jim out the door it would be $3,700, $500 cheaper for the same parts and time than the Ford Dealership. Even though they were cheaper, that was still to much for me to afford but I was able to find a donor transmission which they were more than happy to put in for me. With all this I saved $2,200 by taking to these awesome group of people. And would highly recommend them to anyone.

Scheduled routine transmission flush and fill, was quoted a price, made an appointment. Dropped off car, was informed they were a little short-handed due to a call-off. They serviced the car in under the quoted time despite the call-off, and the bill came in under the quoted estimate. That never happens! Wouldn’t go anywhere else.

Very nice please to have work done on your vehicle

I had a valet parking attendant somehow break my shifter so my car wouldnt go into reverse. I took the car to Waterloo Transmissions and they fixed it quickly and without any issues. The were knowledgable and service was as expected. If I had major transmission repair I wouldnt hesitate for them to work on it.

Had Waterloo diagnose my transmission and they quoted me over $3,000 to rebuild it which they said needed to be done. On a hunch I took my vehicle for another opinion at Jim and Sons and they thoroughly inspected the transmission only to find that it didnt need rebuilt or replaced, it just needed a new part for $750. Not sure how Waterloo didnt see this, but Im thankful for Jims saving me thousands of dollars. Everyone keep this in mind when youre dealing with transmission work.

Really a great group of people who are very knowledgeable. They converted my 66 mustang from an automatic to a manual transmission and they worked their butts off to make sure that when I recieved the car back that it was perfect can say enough about them.

I purchased a remanufactured transmission from here around 12 months ago along with additional work/labor totaling around 2800 dollars. At first I was skeptical and hesitant to spend this much money for my vehicle but after speaking to the staff here I felt comfortable about my decision. Fast forward about a month and a half ago my vehicle started to act up and had issues accelerating so I assumed it couldnt be related to my transmission. After taking it to a local mechanic, they informed me that whoever did the transmission work failed to properly secure the motor mount and it ended up shorting a few wires which caused the issues with accelerating etc. I then took it back to Waterloo trans and they did apologize and fixed the issue with no charge of course. I then started to feel great again about my decision. However last week after putting almost 50k miles(mainly highway) on my remanufactured transmission, it has now failed and is no longer working. It is also out of warranty (2year 24k miles-whichever first). When I purchased the transmission I did agree to the warranty 1. Because it wouldve costed me atleast an additional 500 dollars and 2. Because I asked the staff repeatedly if I could rely on the transmission. I didnt expect another couple hundred thousand miles but I did expect atleast another 100. I am very disappointed and S.O.L. Take this as a lesson learned.

Ive had nothing but excellent service from Jim and the gang. In my many years of driving, I think I must have ruined (or atleast thought that I ruined) four or five vehicals, but every time Waterloo came through! And not once was the bill higher than I guesstimated.... Thanks guys!!!

Waste of time.

Stay away, theyre a bunch of scammers, my car had a problem with a connector between the transmission and computer system. They told me it was the transmission, so I replaced it, few days later the problem came back and they charged me for another diagnoses, told me to take it back to the dealership, took it back to the dealership and the problem they suggested wasnt the actual issue. So i took back to them and they charged me for another diagnoses and surprisingly they found out what the problem was. The manager Jim kept on lying about the information he gave me. I also had a dashcam, they barely worked 2 hours on the car. It took them a whole week just for the diagnosis. Please take your car elsewhere for better results and honesty.

TheyKnew exactly what was wrong with my transmission.Jim was very helpful even got me a ride home with one of his guys. Fixed my car within a couple days.
