They do a fantastic job every time I go. Awesome customer service, and thank you to Bob for reimbursing the ZipCar rental I had to take to drive back and replace a water key cork they forgot to replace.

This place does amazing and quick work. They serviced my modified Bach 42 and it left the shop working and looking better then when I first purchased the horn. They realigned my slide, fixed several large dents, and relacquered my bell. I have posted the fixed horn bellow (Sorry, no before pictures).

Many thanks to Tim Cote at Osmun Music! I had a Precision Valve Alignment (PVA) and Chemical Cleaning/Ultrasonic Cleaning done on my 2005 Vincent Bach Stradivarius 180S37, and Im absolutely thrilled with the results. Ive always taken very good care of my horns, but the work completed at Osmun Music produced results I never could have achieved on my own. In addition to completing the PVA and professional cleaning, Tim removed a few dents in my leadpipe and bell. I havent seen this horn in such great condition since I brought it home for the first time. Id absolutely recommend Osmun Music to my friends and family!

Took a 1970’s Bach Strad 37 that I recently picked up on EBay in for a pinhole leak in third valve knuckle. It also had a pretty good dent and bend in the back bell tube which the tech recommended repairing. When I opened the case at pick up I was amazed how great it looked. If you hadn’t seen it before you would hardly know that trumpet had been worked on. Absolutely superb workmanship. Thanks guys!

The staff helped me select a fabulous horn to trade up to and offered me a very fair trade-in for my previous horn. I have enjoyed shopping at Osmun since 2010. Their selection of accessories, instruments and mutes is tops in New England. Their knowledge and efficiency is unrivalled as well. I am amazed that I can have a chemical horn cleaning performed the same day I drop off the instrument.Just waiting for Osmun to make patches so I can advertise for them on cases, bags or hats....

I sent my Bach Stradivarius with a 72 bell in to Osmun music for a cleaning and blueprinting service, and after I got my trumpet back through the mail I was a bit disappointed. After reading plenty of great reviews about Jim Becker and the work that is done at Osmun, I expected my horn to come back with super smooth valves and slides and also to be a much more in tune and efficient player. The third valve slide is definitely better than it was, but it still is not as smooth as two trumpets that I own, as well as many other trumpets that I have played. The valves are also less than stellar, since they tend to hesitate on their way back up, especially after being held down and for a few seconds. An example of this would be if I were playing an E Major scale slowly; I can often feel resistance and notice a small amount of hesitation when the second valve comes back up in order to play the fourth space E.I was also surprised that they charged me an extra $40 to adjust the receiver of my instrument. I would have thought that it would have been a part of the $339 charge for the blueprinting service.I was in touch with Tim Cote about these issues, but he has not yet responded to the email I sent 10 days ago. He also has not responded to questions that I asked in an email sent 11 days ago. These are some of my questions and comments that I would like a reply to:You mentioned in your last email that my 72 has 30 years of wear on it and therefore wont work as well mechanically, but you also told me in an earlier email that its quite a nice horn for its age, the odometer on this horn is very low, and youre going to have a fantastic instrument when Jims done. The person who sold me this horn said that the original owner played it for less than a year before putting it in the case and forgetting about it, so it should not be worn out. When Jim play-tested the horn, did he have any issues with the valves or the third valve slide? Do most of the valves and slides of horns that Jim works on take a few miles of playing to settle in, like you said? If the valves and slides worked as good as any other horn Jim played on after he was done with all of the work, then maybe the horn was banged around a bit in the mail? Was it shipped with insurance?I would like to say that the horn did come back in the mail very well packed, and it looked basically brand new inside and out. I do think it plays a bit better than it did as well, but it is hard to focus on how it plays since the valves and third valve slide are not as good as other horns I own.If someone is considering shipping Osmun their instrument for service, I highly suggest being extremely clear on the standards you expect from the finished work. If I were there at the shop, I would not have taken this instrument back from them until the valves and slides were further smoothed out. If at all possible, I would suggest being there in person to pick up the horn and play test it for a while yourself before paying for the service.

Very friendly service. My sons trumpet was damaged and Tim was able to fix it while we were waiting. We were also looking for new trumpet as well and Tim gave us very professional recommendations. I am pretty sure we will visit again. I am so glad we found a local shop we can depend on.

Very well-run business. We had one Yamaha clarinet repaired and cleaned. The transaction was excellent. On the phone we were told to bring the instrument in and consult with the clarinet specialist. He was informative and was able to give a rough estimate of the work and cost. I was surprised how quickly amd well the work was finished. Very satisfied. Will bring in a brass trombone soon. Also purchased a p-bone here.

Great experience, sent my trombone in for slide and valve conditioning as part of the same-day service offering. The work was finished within four hours, and both parts are in better condition than even when they were new 25 years ago. They also removed some minor dings from the bell section that have made the entire horn look better than ever. Its a real joy to play an instrument with flawless action. They hardly need my endorsement, but they treated my equipment like I was a member of the Boston Symphony, and I will bring my horns to them anytime they require servicing.

I was referred to Osmun Music by musicians in the Boston area. Its pretty far outside the city, but the drive is pleasant and the service is worth it!I own a pretty rare vintage trombone that had been in storage for a long time. I wanted to give it a decent cleaning, slide alignment if needed, and any other services that Jim (the trombone tech) deemed necessary. My trombone was evaluated by both Jim and the gentleman at the front desk. They quoted me a price for a basic setup, which I agreed to. Im on tour and so this was kind of a rush job, but they generously offered to fit me into their VERY busy service schedule.I expected the work to be finished at the end of five days, but was surprised to receive a call within 24 hours that trombone was ready! This was extremely convenient for me. When I got the horn back I took the slide out right there in the shop to see how it felt. AMAZING! Significantly better than when Id brought it in. Jim did an absolutely fantastic job. Plus the horn is nice and clean and ready to play. Im very happy with the service I received here, and would recommend Osmun Musics repair and cleaning services to both professional and amateur musicians.Sidenote: although Osmun Musics main business seems to be repairing instruments, they also sell cleaning accessories, mutes, instruments, and mouthpieces made by Bob Osmun himself.

OVERPROMISED. First time customer. Brought in 2 brass instruments for a tune up. Was told work would take 10-14 days. Work finally completed 5+ weeks later. No explanation given. (No parts needed) When given my estimate, the shop person told me that an area of lacquer wear would be almost gone with the cleaning and also offered to remove small dents, along with the usual cleaning inside the instrument. When I opened the instrument cases prior to leaving, I noticed the dents and lacquer appeared untouched. I prompted the same desk person from my first visit as to why they appeared untouched. He told me that the lacquer wear would be another new separate service (and presumably not for free). He offered to have the repair person try to fix the small dents while I waited. I unfortunately had a tight schedule that day after driving 1+ hrs to get there, I was not able to wait around for the repair. Based on other reviews, I clearly did not get the VIP service that the some reviewers have received (see second reviewer). Disappointing. I cannot understand why they would be unapologetic with such service.Addendum. I neglected to mention that the desk person was helpful with answering my questions about the condition and value of my instruments.
