MANAGEMENT: This store is disgusting. I can’t even fit all of it in photos, bugs and spills, trash and merchandise everywhere. More than enough employees just wandering around who should be fixing this.

Staff helpful and took me to the area I wanted to go. Door greeter very nice and said hello and welcome to Academy some people never hello back. Sad for people who have no courtesy towards others.

We were able to quickly find the black shoes my son needed for his soccer referee uniform. It was not crowded on Sat morning before 9 am, so that was great. We were able to get the help we needed and get him to his first game! (No break in period on the shoes either- he said his feet were comfortable after being in them all day/4 games!)

Recently bought a smoker from there and Gene sorry dont know last name but helped us from beginning. His customer service was A+++. Super nice and very helpful. Great store too.

Since I had surgery, not ableto shop all day for shoes. I found some online at the Abilene store. IN STOCK. Paid and forpick up same day. Emails of order number. Paid and confirmationforpickup. Hours later. Email “sorry out of stock, money returned in 7 business days” nothing else. Just that. I recommend not assuming you will get what is said, and prepare to pay and not see a return forawhile.

What a pig sty! I normally love shopping here. Clothing is just piled on tables. Check out line is 15 minutes or more.....

Who doesnt love Academy Sports and Outdoor whether youre athletic or an outdoorsy or indoor person youll find yourself coming to this store at least a few times in your life. I was so friendly staff they have a greeter up front when you walk in. You can also check out their shoes in the very back they clearance them to very low prices and you can buy brand names at very low prices they also do athletic wear and the end of the season clothing goes on clearance so just watch out for that and you can get really good things at a cheaper price. We buy our bench presses from here are athletic wear and my husband loves to come here when hes shopping for guns and any accessories. Theres a little bit for everyone in the family whether you need new shoes new clothes camping gear or for the little ones baseball basketball football stuff highly recommend youll never regret shopping here!

Went looking for a brand of socks they used to carry that were for diabetics. They no longer carry them. Got some Adidas socks instead and they seem to work. Thanks to the young man for helping.

Went in for 1 thing and the line was wrapped around the store. They had 2 cashiers and 2 service desk people. Customers were frustrated and walking out and some saying they didnt need items they came in for that bad to wait in such a long line. Other customers were cutting in line at the service desk because they didnt want to wait in the long line that was wrapped around to past the gun department. The man who helped us in the fitness department was super nice and sweet. Short staffed on one of the busiest weekends.

When my friend had a broken leg the security guard at the front tried to take her crutches. Even though she told him not to, he touched them and tried to pull them out of her cart. (She was in one of those scooters with a cart. She wanted to be able to stand up using the crutches if she needed. This man didnt care, didnt treat us with any respect, just simply ignored us and tried to take her crutches anyway. 0/10: Id rather drive to another city than go to this academy again.

Nice place it would have been even nicer if what they said they had online was really in the store.Went because my son wanted a lightweight fishing shirt and since I was going there I checked out their ammo online. Said it has 12ga skeet rounds in stock but when I arrived the shelves were empty. Asked someone who worked there and they said they did not know why it said they had it in stock.

Lines are consistently long here. Always......ALWAYS.Worse than HEB.But thats my only complaint. Everything else is peachy.

Typically have a pleasant experience. Recently purchased a large speaker with radio online for pickup, going to the drive in that night. When I got to the store, the staff couldnt find it. Took almost an hour... When they finally did, I took it out to my car, opened it, and there it was... A large bloody bandage stuck to the top of it. Took it right back inside, got a refund, and watched em tape that bad boy back up. Not saying they put it back on the shelf but, they didnt seem as concerned about it as I was. That was also the only speaker, movie night was a wash. Not the place for speakers, or cleanliness.

Always a great place to go and shop. Found what went after. Was in and out.

Always has new items I need or want . Friendly and helpful staff when u can find someone . We do alot of outdoors activities and seems to be only place in this town with what we need at a good price

Ive been going to the old location for years. I like the new one just as well, if not better. The curbside was quick and easy.

The store was clean and well organized with a great selection of mechandise. A lot of stores have shrunk their inventories during COVID but this Academy still has a great selection of items to choose from. The staff was very friendly and quite helpful as well. Great store.

The store overall has a lot of variety in products. My main reason for visiting was to look at a specific kind of ammo and at this time the selection is limited and a bit more expensive. Clean isles and not any empty areas. Pretty fun place to walk around.

The store over all is Great! However, My son and I were here recently and knew they were closing. It literally had just touched 10 and we were walking towards the check out lanes. As we passed basket of bats, my son stopped to look at 1 bat ($300 bat) and an older grey headed lady came up to us. Her: May I help you with anything? Us: No thank you. Me: We just stopped to look at this bat. Her: Oh Well then please make your last item purchase so I can close this store.And shes walked off. Ummm with excuse me? We have Never been treated like that in any department store. We own a business here and we never would kick you out. Money is Money! No we didnt purchase the $300 bat because I will order him one off line since that woman wouldnt let us look and decide on it.Not sure we will be back! There is too many online options for ordering sports equipment. Wish Abilene would get a Dicks sporting goods or anyone for that matter to give Academy a run for their money. They need a push!!

The place to get your outdoor goods. They have nice selection of shoes, everything except dress shoes. Hunters know this is the place to go for their needs. Athletic goods too.

You should be ashamed of yourselves for what you are doing with fishing license sales. Why did you not offer me the year to date for 17 dollars more vs paying 30 dollars for 3 months and have to renew. You also sold my bud a year to date and still tried to get him by putting 8/31 on it and he caught it before leaving. Ill be letting everyone i fish with know about your schemes and we wont be spending our money here anymore. We will drive across town and use the local bait shop from now on thanks for the boost to do it. Thieves.

Firearm selection has gone way down. Ammunition was almost non-existent. There were like five boxes of 308 and thats it. Knife selection has gone down. Not a single camp axe or hatchet. Just the tacticool stuff. Tent selection is low. Dont even get me started on the clothing prices. 30 dollars for 1 t-shirt $25 for a pair of workout shorts. This used to be my end all be all for sports and outdoors shopping but its gotten really bad.

Been to this academy twice for major purchases and walked out empty handed. They never have enough staff on duty and checkout lines are extremely long wait times. Today there were atleast 75 ppl waiting to check out and only 2 registers open.

Academy is always fast and friendly with good customer care...

Under no circumstances will I ever shop at this location again. I dont like the selection of some items and several people give me the creeps.

The staff is awesome the store needs severely stocked. I went for fishing gear and they were sold out of a ton of tackle.

They quit carrying a assortment of Reeboks. They only had Reebok work shoes.

The day I went in I was looking for someone in the womens section to come help. Noone was available. A few of the staff looked right through me as if I didnt matter. The womens section was severely unorganized with clothes scattered every where. Im not sure if they were just short handed or what but Academy needs to do a better job at maintaining cleanliness and customer service.

Outdoor sports area employees very rude not helpful or attentive. Wasnt greeted wasnt, asked if I needed help. And then at one point just walked off. Had a bad attitude like he didnt wanna be there. Most of the other departments were polite and asked if I needed anything. But mainly the outdoor sports area where the guns are, were not very professional.

Very good on the grills didnt find pants or short that was what I like and not so high in price

Its ok forgot how expensive it is though but they have good stuff

Great selection of sporting and outdoors equipment at a reasonable price. The private brands, Magellan and BCG, are solid, and Magellan offers many products comparable to those of Columbia.Ive always received good service at this location, and the store always seems to be clean and organized.

Our local academy is very unorganized, always out of stock on products, and once they sell out, they never refill. Usually 1-2 backed up checkers that have crazy long lines. Not satisfied.

Well so I went in looking for just nice thick winter jackets I was sad to say they did not have any of what I was looking for but it wont stop me from going there in the future to shop for what ever I need in sporting goods but I did find stuff to get for camping and Ill be spending some good money there and its all good products love there store

Its usually a bit grungy/dirty and the womens clothing section is a wreck, but they have products and prices found nowhere else in town.

This store was good, kind, and great services. Unitl they change my mind when my little brother bought a helmet from there and accidently left his hat while teying on different helmets.We live a few hours away from Abilene, we called them on the same day to tell them we loss a hat their but nobody answered to our call. We went back to retrieve my little brothers hat and they said We found the hat but we dont know where it is, I mean how can you not know where it is, when you said you found it. This shows how they didnt care about peoples personal items, if they were left behind.

Got my daughters skateboard here and she loves it. Good place to shop for sports equipment, hunting, etc

Shelves a mess and everything hard to find. The young man that waited on us at customer service desk was very friendly and made the experience worth the trouble. The older gentleman in the softball section was a scrooge and walked off when we asked for help.

Sleeping bags are awesome. But they didnt have the cooler and had to do a refund.

I waited in 2 lines for what seemed like forever because there were no price tags on the actual products. Myself and the customer before me had to go online to find the sku for the items we wanted to purchase.

Went there for shoes for my 10 year old and their shoe shelves were mostly empty forcing us to go somewhere else. No staff was available in the crowded shoe dept to help

25 people in line, 4 checkers. I waited in a 30 minute line with 3 little kids and aching feet. I saw employees walking around empty handed and basically doing nothing. I asked if they could open more registers, they said no. So, we wont be back. I can find everything they sell on line. Academy used to be good.

Just like any other Academy except they were out of the two items I went in for in my size.

Needed help in boot section, the kid they had there didnt know anything about where the over stock was. Rest of the store was ok...except ammo but thats almost everywhere.
