I went in for an oil change and the service was great. The technician was very informative of what other issues I had with my vehicle. Service was awesome!!!

Our alternator went out three hours from home. They were able to get us in the same day, and even recommended that I go and pick up a part myself in order to avoid the markups that come with getting the parts through them. This alone probably saved us about $200

Zero stars! Job requested was not performed but I was charged $108 for the displeasure of visiting the Abilene, TX Pep Boys. Never again! I do not plan to send anyone there, not even any enemies.We wanted the vehicle serviced for an upcoming road trip to Phoenix, AZ. Talon, the manager, said a 120 point assessment, fluid levels, and tires would be checked. --- Upon leaving car alert 23% oil life remaining Talon said oil change wasnt on work order so not done. He wanted to do $500 brake job.--- July 20, 2021 I have proof brakes have 80% life remaining with no work done and oil change performed by Lithia. Go to Lithia not Pep Boys!

I went in to get a tire fixed and the clerk in the front named Carlos started to talk down to customers. When it came to me he tried to have the guys install a new tire and struts without clearing it with me first but I stopped him and he became hostile. Rude employees lose business and this individual has obviously cost a lot of return customers

Here on a sunday its 9 am. The workers are outside waiting on the boss to open the door. An they open at 9am on Sunday. So im waiting also maybe they should open at 10am on sundays since no one is here that can open

I was headed from Lubbock to Austin on July 3rd and had a blowout right outside of Sweetwater. It was just before 5pm and had called 2 other tire stores and was told they couldnt help me. The first said there was no way I would make it before they closed, (I would have made it 30 minutes prior to them closing.) The 2nd said they didnt have the tire size I needed, but recommended I call Pep Boys. When I called Pep Boys they had my tire in stock and agreed to stay open later and help us. They checked the rest of my tires to make sure I wouldnt have any more problems and were very helpful. Customer service was great, and they salvaged my 4th of July plans.

I wish i could give zero stars. Took them 5 hours to do my brakes. I had a 9 oclock appointment and my car was on the lift for 4.5 hours...9:30am-2pm.

Went in for a 4 wheel aliment they said it would be a week before they could do it went to Toms Tire Pros got it done the same day. I know they are not that busy. Go somewhere where else.

This is the worst possible place ever. I cannot believe my mind. They come up with all sorts of excuses not to have what you paid for done and on time. Ridiculous. No stars.

I brought my car to PEP boys in Abilene on 1-9-21 turn the terrible rotors from China not from PEP that were warping after 9,000 miles. They did the work and told me I needed a bunch more work done that was just done last February that didnt need to be done and should have been shown to instead of told over the phone so I could see it. After I get home I look at the bill and I notice they charged me $27.50 extended warranty never told about, for the work just done and $34.75 shop fee for using there lift and tools is what I was told. So $62.00 rip off for nothing. If you look at other reviews I am not the only one complaining about this. Shame on you Pep boys and dont give me the standard send in the form BULL. Thanks

Friendly, however they are no longer a parts store. They are only a service and tire center. They got bought out or something. Kinda strange to see what used to the store portion to be blocked off by walls.

They tried to tell me my cab filter was over 45.00 I dont like them any more you cant buy anything you have to let them install, so they can charge you to much !!! Use to enjoy giving my business not anymore !!!!

Horrible service. Everything that was wrong with my car that led me to taking it to the shop is STILL THERE. Nothing is running better. Charged me $440 to literally give me my car back in the same shape it was in when I took it to them. Will never go back and will never recommend them to anyone.

Set up a time yesterday online, got there they couldnt do tiresat the time, said come back in the morning. Came back in the morning. They have had the car since 10am, said they started working on it at 1pm. It is now 430pm and they still dont know how long itll take to finish replacing 2 tires..

I was driving a restored car from New Mexico to Mississippi on a Sunday when the tires began separating. I panicked as I googled a tire tire that was open. I found a Pep Boys that was open in Abilene, about 100 miles away. This was my first experience with Pep Boys and I did not know what to expect. I started calling when i was 80 miles away and from my first conversation with Mike, I felt assured. It took me over 3 hours and 2 used tires to go the 80 miles to Abilene, and when I arrived I was greeted with nothing but respect.The tires ( an uncommon white letter 15 in) were in stock and waiting . The service was exceptional and I was back on the road in record time. I had to drive through a 5 hour rainstorm to get home but the car never drove better. I only wish there was a Pep Boys in my town.

They lie about the oil change price, on their web site it says $79.99 for Mobil 1 synthetic oil.Guess how much they wanted to charge me for it.$109!!!!!!The guy’s name who wanted to overcharge me is Robert by the way.I’m not going to take my car to Pep Boys stores anymore, their lies are unacceptable.I advise you not to use their services.

They guy working the front sold me warranty that he didnt tell me was optional already had it on the invoice and on top of that he told me my shocks and struts were bad.. I had some other shop give me a second option and they are good.. if you shop there I suggest you look into everything before you waste your money

Ordered tires on and installation on Amazon for great price on Prime Days. Installed quickly and gave a very good examination of the car. The service manager at this location top notch. Usually never use Pep Boys but this guy was good.

Ive been in their tire and service shop many times over the years and always had great service and been amazed how patient and accommodating the staff is. Theyve always been honest with me and gave me all the info and options up front before doing any work. Ive observed them working through some very busy times while I waited on occasion and been impressed by the way theyve treated other customers too. Are they perfect? None of us are. Do they do a much better job than I could? Absolutely!

Fantastic service. I was needing a set of tires replaced and I was in a bind. The staff at the service department spent time and found me a set of tires within my price range and they were extremely professional and polite. They managed to squeeze me In on there busy schedule and had me taken care of In a reasonable amount of time. I will definitely use them in the future

Stopped by to get a flat fixed on a road trip. The service manager took great care of us while there. He didnt charge to fix the nail hole even though we didnt purchase the tires there and got us back on the road.Edit: my patch didnt hold and my tire was flat the next day. Took it to the the shop and it was leaking through the patch on the inside. Had to replace all four tires due to the car being awd.

I needed an oil change on my mini cooper. I had purchased a filter and oil from an national known auto parts company. When I arrived at Pep boys they informed me that I had the wrong filter. They called another auto parts company and gave me a ride to them so I could get the correct filter. outstanding service!

Service manager at this location is excellent. Went above and beyond when it came to helping me out. Found lug nuts that were special order everywhere else. I even spoke with two other employees before they sent me to him, the others had no clue what they were speaking about. John Jay Price is the name on the card he gave me. Dedicated customer of this location since 1995.This trip was originally for tires, warranty work for shocks and new brakes. Work was prompt and prices were better than anywhere else local.During this visit the mechanic also discovered leaking valve cover gaskets. I was contacted on the problem and I authorized the repair.Following this repair my truck would not idle and would die when I stopped. I returned to Pep boys to see if something was missed during reassembly of the valve covers. This time the mechanic discovers a bad valve that required a valve job. Further inspection by Pep Boys contracted machine shop showed there were no problems with the valves and the heads were returned to re install on my truck at no cost.During reassembly of the camshafts one of them broke in half and a new part was not available so the management elected to install a COMPLETE NEW ENGINE in my truck at no cost.BOTTOM LINE...This was a series of unfortunate events that Mike, Jay and Rowdy did back flips to make right for me to include offering to pay for a rental while they sorted out the situation. Pep boys admitted their mistakes and made it more than right. Great store-great people. I will continue to take my business to them.

Just wanted to give a shout out to Jay and his team. We were traveling through Abilene mid-afternoon on Sat Aug. 17th moving my son up to Texas Tech in Lubbock. We ran into what turned out to be a power steering issue in his truck and got recommended to Jays Pep Boys. Jay diagnosed the issue and scoured Abilene to get the parts for us even checking Lowes and Home Depot for a final bolt that didnt come with the power steering pump. Jay thanks for your help and the excellent customer service!! You helped make a tough situation work for us! Your recommendation of Abeulos worked out too.

Nothing but straight talk on how it is with your car. If your car is about to be DOA, the staff will tell you. If they can find a budget work around, they will also tell you. The three desk clerks/service writers I have repeatedly dealt with are top notch, hands down. Ex-Army female...and 2 men.... All know their stuff. The retail manager and speed shop guy also great retailers and know their trade.

The employees at the general merchandise and parts Dept treat you like family and are genuinely wanting to help with all sorts of solutions and general questions—hats off to a culture that places the care of its customers first. Oh, and the specials on oil and the military discounts are awesome/appreciated. Thanks for taking care of me and my family’s needs for over 15 years!

I moved to Abilene end the end of September 2018. During the move I had tire problems. Went in for the repair worried a f stressed over the issue in with the tire . The Manager Jay was understanding kind and helpful. Things worked out better than I thought. Ive since gone back there for all our family vehicle needs. I quite like the auto shop here. The guys have always been straight with me. Theyve taken it upon themselves to check any recalls for my car, which saved me over $800. They found issues that I knew were there that the dealership couldnt. Theyve always been quick and reasonably priced. Ill be returning several times in the future.

Excellent service! I was in Abilene for work and my alternator started failing. I spoke with Mike in the service department about my situation and he took care of my car. They were full for the day and they squeeze my car in. Everybody there is so wonderful and dedicated.

J did an excellent job making sure my tire replacement was done quickly and correctly. He was very knowledgeable and let me know exactly what was going on with my tire and gave me information at every step. Highly recommend!

Just got new tires for under 5 bills for my 15 yr old Jeep. Drives like off the showroom floor. They said I also needed an alignment (no surprise) but because of minor mechanical issues, they couldnt get it perfect so they got it as close as they could..for free! Excellent service and product at a great price.

Good selection in the store, there must be some sort of interface problem with the website though. Used website to book a service appointment 3 or 4 days out. Got there about 10 minutes early and the service advisor said my appointment was double booked and that he tried to reschedule my appointment for five hours later. I had never gotten a call, text, or email about it. They said they may be able to see me an hour and a half after my original appointment. I said forget it and left. The guy apologized when I was leaving. I ended up just doing the work myself. The whole experience was inconvenient.

Three stars is for Terry and the lady they were helpful and kind and sympathetic to my issues. There was another man there who literally just stared at me and this was while I was waiting for Terry to come back so I was standing there patiently waiting and he just stood there and stared at me for a good 10 seconds so finally I got tired and asked if he was doing ok. Keep in mind the man works there he should have greeted me and asked me if I was ok or needed help etc. I then had to ask Terry if the man was mentally slow or something as he kept staring at me with no greeting which anyone would interpret as aggression so someone needs to teach friendly customer service to the man. Terry knows who it is because I asked if the man was mentally challenged as he wouldnt stop staring at Me with no words. Maybe he had a problem with me because of my ethnicity or the way I was dressed or something I dont know but the young lady that accompanied me asked me why Is that guy staring at you like that.

I had a popping sound in my front right tire. They told me they couldnt identify the source of the problem, so I took it someplace that could. Really what they were doing was trying to get me to bite on their upsell, so it was in their favor to not mention what the problem was. They recommended I spend 2000 dollars in repairs instead, on a junker I use for work that aint worth 500 dollars. All they wouldve had to do was drive the car in a circle in the parking lot to hear the noise I described, but again, they had to have known what the problem was. Its just too much for me to imagine that they couldnt identify such a common automotive problem.

Great customer service, and they have charges for all different types of phones and games for the kids while you wait.

Manager bent over backwards to help us out of a tight spot. We are from out of town, and he kept the place open late to get us back on the road. Had two blow outs. The manager personally took care of us, so he didnt have to make employees stay late. Incredible service.

The staff was very helpful and friendly to everyone. They have a larger store than most and many items are in stock that takes a day to get at other parts stores. Time is money so I will be shopping first here while I am in Abilene.

I blew out a tire on a road trip, and made it in to here. Found out that my last tires didnt have the proper load rating, so ended up replacing all 4. Unexpected expense, but better than another blowout on my trip. Mike and Carlos were very friendly, and Mike patiently explained all the different dimensions for tires, and what each number meant, so I understood what I was getting. The service was fast and I was back on the road without muxh time lost.

Wow, these guys really saved me! Visiting from the Dallas area. Broke down on a Saturday night after a wedding, which required a tow the next day. The tow was surprisingly reasonable, set up via Pep Boys, and although they were very busy in the service department, they worked my car in and got it up and running in record time. The repair required a new starter, which (miraculously) they had in stock. The staff I dealt with went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. I was home in reasonable time, and all of this service was done on a Sunday! Rare, indeed.5 Stars, and I would do business again any time. Thanks!

I had a good experience here. No problems at all. The store is nice and stocked with good deals and a wide variety of products. I wanted to counter some of these negative reviews, because my experience was nothing like any of these.

Be careful. Went in for oil change and tire rotation. I noticed later that they didnt rotate my tires even though I was told that they did. Talked to manager and he reviewed the recording and confirmed that tires were not rotated. He gave me a free oil change for next time but kind of worries me. 2 stars because manager was honest about it. Appreciate manager but hassle returning to get work done that should have been done initially.

I can tell you this place is amazing from the desk Jay, Mike, Heather, Carlos to the gentleman and ladies in the front these people make getting your car worked on this is the place to go. Abilene PepBoys are the greatest 5 stars do not do them justice they need a 10 + in my book

GREAT experience with Pep Boys in Abilene. Mike the Service Advisor and Damon the master tech treated us so well. We were traveling through with car trouble and they helped us fix what we needed to and back on the road in no time.

The service manager Rowdy was super good to a customer I towed to this location with a hour till closing. But yet he jumped on it to see I see if he could get the customer on the road. Hands down the best management I have seen at Pepboys in a ling time

Not gonna lie they can run slow sometimes but every time I go there they are honest, upfront and friendly never doing any work until I approve. On top of this when they found I had a bad wheel bearing and needed to take a long drive and may not have the time to replace it before hand they called the branch where I was heading to schedule a maintenance check for FREE to make sure that it was still safe for me to drive back. Will always come back here

Every time I come here I get totally taken advantage of. I spent over a 1,000 on repairs and I come in to get an oil change the following month and I need more emergency repairs. How convenient that they just noticed this but didnt notice the month before!!!

The service managerMike was super helpful and really nice, made sure that we got in very quickly and got our service done. The reason I am giving a 3 though is because the service tech, Robert, couldnt have been more awful if he tried. He was rude, rolled his eyes, had a horrible attitude, and acted like he didnt want to help us at all. He even started an argument with his Co workers in front of us over not wanting to work. Mike and Richey were the only reason our experience was tolerable.

I sent my daughter, who is away at college, into Pep Boys due to her check engine light coming on. I have used Pep Boys in the past and was very satisfied. That was not the case with this Abilene store. They treated her horribly and were very rude. All this before they told her they could not help her that day due to a technician not being in the store. This was a Saturday at 2:00. I called to let the manager of the store know what had happened just so he would be aware. He did not seem to care much at all. I would NOT recommend this location for service of any kind.

I have had several dealing with this Pep Boys location in the past and havent been impressed by any visit.My most recent visit was after I had made an appointment for a diagnostics the night before. I told Jay over the phone thatall I needed was an alignment and not a diagnostics.Jay said good about not needing the diagnostics because he didnt have anytime for it. So we scheduled to have the alignment done at 9 a.m..I was also advised that there were 3 other folks scheduled at9 a.m. so it would be much later in the day before my vehicle was checked out. On one of my previous visits was told I needed to arrivebefore the store opened, like a first come first serve and asked aboutcoming in earlier. Jay told me he had to have the car in before he would give me a time so we did just that.I arrived shortly after they opened and after finishing up on two other carsit was time for my vehicle to get checked out.After about 15 minutes I was advised against doing an alignmentuntil I had work done on ball joints and other items all for the low price of 1500.00. This did not include the tax and other parts the vehicle might need which I could understand but I could not understand the price was for only 1 ball joint instead of two. Most vehicles need a right and a leftand some parts estimated only had one. After adding up what he had noted it came up to 1700. and with addition parts and tax would make thetotal closer to 2000. Plus, I did not have the 8 hours he said it would take to get the job done.So I went down to Midas and got the job done for around 1500. That included all the parts, labor, tax warranties minus the belly aching about how short staffed they were like Jay did at Pep Boys. I could not believe how efficient Midas seemed to be completely opposite of what I had just observed at Pep Boys where at least four customers were turned away for oil changes and small other small jobs.After witnessing what a finely oiled working machine Midas is I dont think that I could take my vehicle anywhere else to get it fixed.

Dislike their Korean tire selection, they advertise they go 60K miles, but are lucky to hit 37K-44K without falling to pieces.They tried to charge me $89.00 to look over my car, plus $49.00 for belt, plus man hours total around $220+ when i asked them to replace my alternator belt.It was flat out cheaper to go to the dealer!I dont know why they dont carry better tires. They should have a better selection Cooper tires, General tire (owned by Continental, Michelin something worth a crap.They need to have employees who care, not sell stuff for a quick buck.

Asked them to take a look at the connections on my battery because I had trouble starting my car. Didnt even look, just ran a code and assumed that was my problem. Tried to sell me tires too when my car wasnt even starting (when really all I needed was a rotation). Told me it was a $500 job, got it fixed for free somewhere else. Really disappointed in my experience lately, wasnt like this before.

Parts in store reasonably priced,,,but,,,repair shop is complete dishonest scam. They told me i needed over a thousand dollars in repair to my brakes, told me i needed new rotors,pads,seals,and a few more things. Come to find out my rotors were already like new,,,the young mechanic working at rotating my tires told me as i was leaving my pads had a lot of life left. I shared with my brother what happened and he concurred it happened to him too. Its to bad we cant trust our local buisnesses.

My boyfriend needed some minor things done to his car, stuff he could have done himself but wanted to have someone do because he wasnt sure how.We made an appointment and they decided to fit a friend of the head mechanic ahead of us, we had to wait 3 hours before they even touched our car.Then, They quoted him $3000 for parts that were only $150 in store. It was insane to me.Poor customer service. The head mechanic said multiple profanities to our face and looked mad when we said that price was no good.

We took our car there for an emergency stop. The gentlemen in the service department were so sweet and kind. Even though they couldnt help us with our problem(hybrid cars can be a nightmare!), they told us some other options we could look into. They took a really tough situation for us and tried to make it positive. A shout out to Rowdy for making me laugh when I wanted to cry!

Would rate a zero if possible. On the way to Abilene from Fort Worth for high school volleyball regionals my trucks brake line broke. I made it all the way to Abilene with only an emergency brake to stop. Pep Boys was the only place open at 7 that would see my vehicle so I pulled in and explained my situation. They put my truck up on the lift, and it only took about 15 minutes for them to diagnose the problem, they said I needed to have my break line replaced, but they couldnt do it until morning. So I asked if I left my truck how much it would cost to have it fixed. They said it was going to cost $5,000 to replace a brake line, and no that is not a typo, $5,000. A typical auto shop trying to take advantage of somebody stuck in a tight situation. Told him he was crazy and to put my tires back on, and to take my truck off the lift. Went to my high schools voleyball game and then drove home 2 hours, once again with only an emergency brake to stop. Took it to my local auto shop, and he replaced both my lines for $300. This Pep Boys ought to be ashamed of itself and I will definitely be filling a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and one with their regional offices as well.

Their online appointment scheduler does not work! You will make an appt and re-arrange your day, only to find out there are multiple appts scheduled for that time and it will take far longer. Save yourself a headache and go elsewhere.

This has to be the worst service offered in Abiliene. The service advisor in the service area, whom had earrings on, lacked professionalism and customer service skills. He carried on personal conversations with another employee despite customers at the desk. They advised us that there would be an hour wait due to employees being out for lunch, however there were several others sitting around doing nothing. The wait time was over one hour. I believe the 3.4 rating I saw on the site is being too kind or reviews are being filled out by employees. On top of the long waits and poor service, the restroom was out of service and had water overflowing everywhere. I suggest some better training and supervision of your stores Pep Boys!!
